Espri and Darren began Brambleberry Permaculture Farm in the fall of 2003 in the beautiful hills of southern Indiana. We are primarily a plant nursery, but also offer permaculture landscaping and farm consultations. We usually have cows, chickens and rabbits, but are currently taking a break from cattle to build better fences lol. We occasionally have peacocks, ducks, pigs or other livestock as well.

Tent add-on for Brambleberry Cabin

100%
(1)
Tent site · Sleeps 8
This listing is only available if you also book the Brambleberry Farm Off-Grid Cabin because you will be using the cabin facilities. We sometimes get requests for extra cabin guests, but there is barely enough floor space to accommodate one sleeping bag, two if they are kids. I don't want to misrepresent the cabin as really having space for more than two people, so I'm making a separate listing for those who want to set up a tent outside or squeeze in on the floor. You are welcome to pitch your tent anywhere in the general vicinity of the cabin, including in the field uphill from the cabin where you may find a flatter spot. Keep in mind that the composting toilet in the cabin is not super private (it does have a door, but it's not floor-to-ceiling, see pictures), and the shower area has a shower curtain but not private changing area. The composting bucket toilet also fills up faster with more than 2 people. We are happy to come change out the buckets for you as often as once a day at our convenience. The price for this listing reflects that extra labor. You may want to bring paper plates, etc., to supplement the dishes provided in the cabin. If I haven't talked you out of it yet then this listing is for you!

Brambleberry Farm Off-Grid Cabin

(13)
Cabin · Sleeps 2 · 1 bedroom · 1 bed · 1 toilet
Our non-electric cabin in the woods is the perfect glamping opportunity. This rustic retreat lets you truly immerse yourself in nature. It is a 5-8 minute walk from our house and parking lot. The 270 square foot tiny house has a queen mattress in the loft, a wood stove, propane stove top and gravity fed rain water (non-potable). Large windows look out over a beautiful southern Indiana holler. Camp shower & composting toilet. A small propane wall furnace and wood stove keep it warm in the winter, and a small battery powered fan is supplied to hang above the bed in the summer. Experience comfortable, tent - free camping! Our farm is a permaculture homestead and plant nursery, and we also offer educational tours ($35/hr). We are a working farm (read: a little messy) and we minimize mowing whenever possible, but we do mow a path down to the cabin. You'll pass through our sylvopasture orchard on your way down to the cabin, with lots of unique and unusual fruits. The cabin is about 100 yards into the woods, looking out over a wooded holler. Neighbors' houses are only barely visible in winter when the leaves are off the trees. We have a very rich variety of wildlife on the property, including a large diversity of song birds, deer, wild turkeys, possums, foxes, frogs, insects (including ticks and mosquitoes), non-venomous snakes (the only venomous snakes in our area are copperheads but we've only seen one on the entire farm in 20 years), salamanders and lizards. We even found bobcat tracks last winter. There have been very occasional sightings of mountain lions in our area, but we've not seen them here. We do hear coyotes down in the holler sometimes. The cabin is in the woods where there are deer mice who sometimes find their way in despite our best efforts, but we generally manage to keep them at bay. There is a fire pit in front of the cabin surrounded by edible landscaping, a propane grill, small charcoal grill, a tree swing, and in season there are hammocks available to hang in the woods below the cabin. Guests are welcome to scavenge dead wood for camp fires (please save the split firewood for the wood stove). We have 20+ acres of woods to explore with sinkholes and a spring, and you are also welcome to wander around the farm and gardens.
