Earthsong Hawai’i is an eco-retreat and organic food forest spread across three acres that has maintained its wild tropical nature. Arriving into the land feels like entering into the forest. We are surrounded by macadamia nut orchards lined with giant pine trees. The rear of the property, which faces southeast, opens to pasture lands with unobstructed views of the Pacific ocean. Located in the magnificently biodiverse Ka’u, this is the largest and least populated district of Hawaii county, located on the island of Hawai’i otherwise known as the Big Island. Home to some of the island's most sought after destinations; The Green Sands Beach, Black Sands Beach, and Volcano National Park. Want to travel to Hawai’i affordably and leave a positive impact on the environment and local community? Are you seeking nature therapy? A peaceful place to pen your novel or practice your art? The Earthsong Foundation is a 3 acre eco retreat with private hales weaved into old growth forest and in the back of the property there is a multi room retreat, healing temple with ocean view, fire circle, and multiple gardens through out. Guests who stay in one of our hales are welcome to participate in our weekly yoga classes, garden with us, book a massage/holistic healing session with us, talk story when we are available, or keep to themselves and enjoy their solitude in the peaceful sanctuary. 15 minutes drive to South Point cliffs/Green Sands Beach, Na'alehu town, 25 minutes to Black Sands Beach, 45 minutes to Volcano National Park...and that's just the tourist spots, there are many more things to explore in Ka'u we can share with you. Hale Mandala is a quaint 10-sided, decagon shaped one bedroom cabin featuring a built-in king sized bed, with attached lanai, outdoor hot shower, and outdoor covered 2 piece bathroom with cesspool flush toilet. The cabin has a two burner propane cooktop and a medium sized efficiency fridge with freezer. The open living room shares the kitchen space and features a two-person table and chairs, full futon pullout couch. Nestled into a fragrant plumeria forest and surrounded by fruit trees (Rollinia, Avocado, Papaya, Lilikoi), this cabin has been a guest favorite for privacy and comfort. Up to 3 guests. *This cabin is solar powered so we ask all guests to be mindful with energy use, and in an effort to minimize the impact of EMFs (electro-magnetic frequencies) on humans, bees, and the environment here there is no Wi-Fi but phone data/hot spot works fine. We suggest unplugging and enjoying the peaceful nature all around you, but if you really need to there is free Wi-Fi at the coffee farm down the road and in a few cafes in the quaint town of Na'alehu 10 minutes driving away. If you plan on coming for a longer term stay you can bring a hot-spot dongle or set it up on your phone ahead of time to connect other devices. * Must love cats! There are 3 farm cats that like to hang out around this hale sometimes. They are very friendly, bordering on annoying at times so feel free to shoo them away or give them as much love as you'd like - they'll happily take all the love or bugger off when told to. Their names are Cheshire, Snickerdoodle, and Leon.

This structure is a rustic cabin elevated above the ground on Ohia posts and surrounded by Iron Wood trees, Lemon Eucalyptus trees, and a Macadamia Nut Tree orchard. It is not literally a treehouse, but it has the feel of one. It is situated in the very back of the 3 acre property with expansive views of the Ocean. On the ground floor there is a deck lounge with a simple outdoor shower with hot water. Up the stairs on the 2nd level there is a wrap around deck. Inside the door there is a basic kitchenette with a sink, 2 burner camp stove, and mini fridge, with large windows to enjoy the ocean view while you prepare your meal. Inside there is a small living space with a convertible foldout bed and shelf. Separated by a curtain there is a twin bed and writing desk with stairs to the loft where there is another twin bed. For a total of 3 twin sized sleeping options. A short walk around the corner from the cabin is a compost lua (toilet). The Treehouse is directly next to the Temple where you'll find everything you need for meditation, yoga, and zen including yoga hammocks, singing bowls, and peaceful vibes. This is a very special place intended for those who want to find harmony living close to nature. You will be exposed to nature's glory and feel like you're living in a treehouse with the wind blowing, rain falling, and frogs singing at night. This is not a place for those who are sensitive to these things. Bring earplugs and a headlamp to walk the couple hundred feet from where you can park and where your cabin is located. There's little false light in the off-grid retreat so on clear nights you can enjoy the stars and visible milky way. Minutes from world famous Green and Black Sand Beaches and under an hour to Volcanoes Nat. Park. Half way between Hilo and Kona - great place for exploring the southern half of the island. Hale Jungle is one hale at the Earthsong eco-retreat in mystical South Point, Hawaii -- a hidden off-grid gem, off-the-beaten path. This hale is a great place for a family vacation featuring 2 bedrooms with 3 queen size beds, an open concept living area with twin size futon couch, full size kitchen, and an indoor bathroom. Unique artistic touches can be found throughout the hale, but of course the main attraction is outside! Your lanai is a great place to hang out and enjoy the scenery and sounds of the jungle(mosquitos can be hit or miss depending on the rains and time of year, so bring bug spray just in case!). The rooms: The Jungle Gym: This playful room features a "bunk bed" built out of Ohia wood sustainably sourced here on island. The raised ceiling makes room for big windows that pour in light and give the feel of being in a treehouse. Both beds are size queen. There's also a table and chairs to be used for board games or can be easily moved/opened for meals. This is a great room for kids! The Womb Cave: This cozy room has a warm cave like feeling. Perfect for getting deep rest after long days spent in the sun! It has 1 queen size bed and a closet. During your stay we can leave you to enjoy the land in solitude or you are welcome to practice yoga, garden, and talk story with us when we are available. We can also customize a private retreat for you, if you are seeking a personalized stay that includes a program of activities and offerings. We are located on the remote and breathtaking South Point Road in Ka'u, one of Hawaii's most magical areas. Drive down the road to access Ka'Lae cliff jump (southernmost point in the USA). Many other surprises and sacred sites to explore in and around Ka'u! You are also encouraged to simply be on the land to listen to the earth's song. Excerpt from Hawai'i Vortex Field Guide: "Besides being the landing place of the first Hawaiians, and home to a remarkable green sand beach, South Point, known locally as Ka lae, is said by the local residents to be like a rift in time. UFO sightings and intense energies are things you may hear about taking place there. Quiet hale off South Point Rd

Lovely

Hale Mandala

Two of us stayed at Hale Mandala for three nights. Lovely and restful spot, as described. They invited us for yoga and a lunar new year gathering they were hosting. Friendly hosts, loved the cats at the property. Had no issues direction wise or anything. Had a few gecko friends hang out with us. Relaxing space to unwind after exploring volcano

Hale Mandala

My husband and I stayed here for about 6 days and loved every minute. We saw the friendly cats, fell asleep to the frogs and woke up to the cows mooing. An extremely peaceful trip connecting to nature. We loved the outdoor shower and felt it was so grounding to be outdoors most of the time. We can not wait to come back!!!

Treehouse with an Ocean View

Took my 13yo old son to hawaii for his milestone birthday. It was a fantastic trip and we stayed in the treehouse. It was an amazing experience, with great welcoming hosts. Would totally stay again.

Peaceful Jungle Yurt

Hale Mandala

A lovely yurt in a very peaceful jungle setting. Glamping at its best. Nice indoor kitchen set-up and electricity. It is jungle so there are some mosquitoes and frog noises at night, but it is well screened and bugs were not a problem. Fun bathroom set-up. Very comfortable king bed in a separate room. We slept very well. Great helpful hosts. Incredible South Point sunsets are nearby and the local coffee farm tour was a favorite.

Glamping at the Hale Mandala

We enjoyed our time “glamping” at the Hale Mandala. There was plenty of hot water in the outdoor shower and the outside toilet is tucked away out of sight but close enough for trips during the night. Our favorite part of the hale was the porch. We spent a good bit of time there listening to the birds and Coqui Frogs and watching it rain. It was very relaxing. We did bring two small battery operated fans we used in the bedroom at night, but we did get chilly, so I’m not sure we really needed them. There are two cats who spend a lot of time at the hale and are very (too?) friendly. The location is good. The South Point Park at Ka Lae is maybe 15 minutes down the road. It is the southernmost point in Hawaii and the U.S. and also has the Green Sand Beach, one of only four in the world. It is 40 miles to the National Park in one direction and 50 miles to Kona in the other. Na’alehu has a gas station and bakery/sandwich shop and a small farmers market on Wednesday mornings. Ocean View (13 miles going towards Kona) has a gas station, grocery store (pricy) and bakery/pizza shop. We look forward to our next visit to Hale Mandala to finish up our exploration of the area.

Authentic Jungle Yurt

Hale Mandala

It was a wonderful authentic Jungle Yurt with a comfy bed surrounded by lush flowers and plants. The sounds of frogs at night put us to sleep. We were greeted by the host and a sweet kitty we fell in love with. It had a wonderful patio deck that we enjoyed morning coffee on. The host offers massages, yoga, breathwork among other wellness options if you inquire. Unfortunately, we weren't able to take advantage of these lovely offerings. This lovely Yurt offers comforts of electricity, wifi, cell service - I had t-mobile, a fridge, a comfy bed and a relaxing experience. Still be sure to bring a flashlight for a short walk to the bathroom about 20 feet from the Yurt and insect repellent for mosquitoes. The short road in was manageable with our low clearance convertible vehicle, but in retrospect we should have opted for a SUV with better ground clearance. Its location somewhat between Kona and the vocano. We heard there's a green beach a few minutes away that we didn't have time to check out. We also noticed a coffee farm and bee farm walking distance. There's a small town with gas and a small market for basics. Be sure to stop for coffee, filtered water and breakfast items on the way in. It was a refreshing- once in a lifetime experience that we won't soon forget. Mahalo for your hospitality!

Jungle Love

Hale Mandala

The property was absolutely beautiful. The yurt was cozy and showering outside in the jungle was a dream. Elena was the sweetest, she came to greet us when we arrived and showed us around which was very helpful. Although we could not attend she was offering an art class and a yoga class while we were there. I wish we could have stayed longer than one night and would absolutely recommend this experience!

Rustic and Magical Jungle Hale

I had a lovely stay on the Earthsong aina. Upon arriving I was greeted by two friendly kitties and I made my way through the forested path to the cute and quaint hale. The creatively constructed bungalow has limited amenities but has what you need for a short stay or a long weekend. The bed was comfy and the lanai was wonderful for yoga or just to sit and listen to the sounds of the jungle. The outdoor shower was nice to cool off and the toilet is in a separate structure nestled in the thick and beautiful jungle. Elena and others on the property were kind and inclusive of their offerings, and I joined them for a yoga class. The rural property invites exploration through their many fruit trees and tropical plants and flowers. Up the road is Paradise Meadows and Farm, which offers farm tours, delicious coffee as well as many samples to try and buy. Farther down the road is South Point and Green Sand Beach, which is worth the journey. This jungle retreat is close enough to activities and amenities, but far enough away that you can feel at peace in nature.

Tranquil rainforest cabin

Though not a traditional camping spot, anyone taking the chance to stay at Ryan and Elena's cabin is very unlikely to leave wanting. My three night stay was a wonderfully tranquil experience. The stay was in a fairly large cabin with a covered porch, an outdoor bathroom and shower, an indoor kitchen with two propane burners, a large fridge, a table, couch, comfortable bed, and wireless Internet until about 10 pm. The cabin is surrounded by dense foliage lined with fruit trees and tropical flowers. As a guest, you are welcomed to wander the whole property, which includes a fire pit, gardens, a yoga studio, and many other fun surprises. Ryan and Elena were extremely welcoming and attentive hosts, while also being very respectful of personal space. Beyond a peaceful stay in their cabin, Ryan and Elena shared their yoga practice and their avocados with me, both of which were very welcome and nourishing. The surrounding area is also a joy, with plenty of fun outdoor things to do. While I was yearning for a simple camping experience when I stumbled on their place, I am glad to have found this experience instead.
