Big rig-friendly
Spacious, level camping well-suited for travel trailers over 40 ft long.
We live on site on 17 acres that is surrounded by large tracts of undeveloped land with the Oconee National Forest within 1/4 mile and the Ocmulgee river within 1 mile. The name Seven Islands comes from the rich history of this area and the nearby trading site between Native Americans and settlers in the 1800s on the seven islands of the Ocmulgee River. For Equestrian campers, we have an electric hook-up near the house and a round-pen size paddock for horses (or can make panels into stalls) +$7/horse/night. (Note: We reserve the right to refuse lodging to horses with runny noses/runny eyes or otherwise sick). *Cabin being remodeled. To be open some time in 2025* We are happy to ride with you when available if desired - or we recommend using the Outdoor Active or Gaia app. Our tent camping area is a peaceful, shady area overlooking meandering Kinnard Creek. The dirt road is within view, but it is a country road rarely travelled by anyone other than kayakers and other recreationists. You may hear the friendly nicker or see our 3 horses coming to check you out, but their pasture area does not intrude on the camping area. Hike or ride your horses on the nearby trails. The Fried Green Tomatoes cafe and Sac-O-Suds (famous from the movie "My Cousin Vinny") [Edit: Sac-O-Suds store is currently closed. But still a scenic drive-by] are an easy drive as well as Covington GA where you can see The Vampire Diary clock tower (or take a tour of other filming locations). There are many quaint shops in town, a 10 minute drive, or in nearby Madison GA. This is a great country getaway to reconnect with nature and peace. We are just far enough away not to be intrusive, but near enough if you need assistance.

Seven Islands Creekside

"Into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul" - John Muir. If these words resonate with you, this may be the perfect spot. This isn't for those who want to hike on manicured bridle paths or camp in a cultivated tent/RV city. This is a place to slow down and commune with your own spirit. Tent camp in the lush greenery of middle Georgia 1/4 mile from the Oconee National Forest and 1 mile from the Ocmulgee river. Our camping area is a peaceful, shady, primitive tent camping area overlooking meandering Kinnard Creek. There is a small shelter with a picnic table for use. It is a great place to find wildlife tracks or possibly even see deer, armadillos, turkeys and more. You may hear a friendly nicker or see our horses nearby. Read a book with your feet in the cool creek, hike or ride your horses on the 30+ miles of nearby trails (we suggest downloading and using Gaia). Bring your kayaks and take a 2-6 hour river trip or just enjoy a refreshing cool off in the river. Day trips include a short drive to the Fried Green Tomatoes cafe (yes, the secret is in the sauce!) or Sac-O-Suds (famous from the movie "My Cousin Vinny" Edit: currently closed). Vampire Diary fans will enjoy an easy drive to Covington GA where you can see The Vampire Diary clock tower (or reserve a tour of other filming locations). There are many quaint shops in town, 10 min drive, or in nearby Madison GA. This is a great country getaway to reconnect with nature and peace. Our home is on the property- far enough away not to be intrusive, but near enough if you need assistance.

Near the house. (do not use map pin for reference). Horses can be in round-pen size paddock or we can set up 4-panel outdoor stalls for you. (We reserve the right to refuse lodging to any horses with snotty noses/runny eyes or otherwise appear sick. Please deworm 3 days before coming if not on a regular deworming program). We have a nice nearby fire pit for use. Public trails are roughly 1/4 mile in one direction and 1/2 mile in the other direction on a dirt/gravel road. The National Forest requires a $5/daily fee to ride - on your honor system. Over 30 miles of trails with a variety of terrain and can be rough - including hills, creeks, logs - and are not well marked. We recommend using Outdoor Active or Gaia apps.
