Gornto Springs, also known as Guaranto Springs, stands out as a serene and picturesque destination owned by Dixie County, making it an ideal spot for a delightful picnic. This charming 2nd-magnitude spring features a man-made berm and culvert that create an oblong pool, measuring 30-40 feet wide and 125 feet long, which gracefully drains into the Suwannee River. Visitors can easily access the spring via steps on both sides, with a viewing platform on the south side that offers a stunning perspective of the spring vent. The water is remarkably clear and exhibits a beautiful blue hue above the vent, reaching depths of up to 10 feet. For convenience, there is a parking area located on the south side of the spring, while a picnic shelter is available on the north side, perfect for enjoying a meal amidst nature. To reach Gornto Springs, take CR 349 north from Old Town, then turn right onto Rock Sink Church Road (CR 353) and follow it to the end. This tranquil location not only provides a refreshing swimming experience but also serves as a gateway to nearby outdoor activities and natural attractions, making it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and families alike.
