Glamping with the Wild Horses

We had an amazing time! When we got there we were greeted by Jody & she was AMAZING! She helped us get settled in and made sure we knew that if there was anything we needed we could call her. The beds were incredibly comfortable, it downpoured so hard for most of the night and the dome was great! It didn’t let a single drop of rain in. There’s a wood stove in the dome and it was enough to keep us toasty warm even though it was in the low 30’s, they also provide tons of warm comfy blankets. There was plenty of wood chopped right outside the domes so if you run out it’s very close. We were able to go and help feed the herd and had the opportunity to give plenty of scratches! In the morning we booked the hike with the horses with Tatianna & Chris which was amazing! We were actually in the areas with the gorgeous herd and were able to get hands on again! I honestly could go on all night talking about how amazing it was but in my opinion the very best part of everything was the fact that every single cent that I spent while we were there went right back into caring for and maintaining the herd. When I was looking for a place to go that’s what sealed the deal and made the decision to pick this place very easy!! I highly HIGHLY recommend checking it out for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!

Great but come prepared

Overall it was very nice! We thought we had booked two full beds and found out they were bunk beds when we arrived. There wasn’t much safety rail for two people to share the upper bed. There are no lights around the domes so getting there in the dark is tricky. Bring plenty of lights. Jody and her husband were great! Drove us down to the domes and back up at the end. Brought us extra logs. There really wasn’t firewood but pieces of pine that didn’t burn really great. It was peaceful and waking to the horses was wonderful. Just come prepared and you’ll have a great time. Probably wouldn’t stay longer than a weekend as there’s not much to do on the property.

The property and wild horses was breath taking the whole experience exceeded our expectations. The staff and owners were beyond friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Would definitely come back again and recommend for anyone that has a love for horses and nature to come and have a stay.

Rustic Retreat

This was so much fun! To wake up and see the horses (and donkeys!) wandering right outside our dome was perfect, and getting to do the walk about with MacKenzie and learn about the horses and their background was so interesting. The dome was clean and cozy, with a little wood stove. We weathered a hurricane in October with no problems.

Mold

The domes smelled so moldy we were unable to stay. We did get a refund as I’m severely allergic to mold. It has just rained hard the days before so possibly this caused the strong odor. Although it is a great atmosphere and concept, I could not stay here.

Camping with MacKenzie was great! Me and my people had a wonderful time. The land was beautiful and the terradomes were nicely furnished and extremly cozy. I would definitely visit here again!

Absolutely Incredible

MacKenzie’s wild horse sanctuary is a very special place! We had a great experience. All of the staff were very knowledgeable and kind. We learned a lot about their mission and had a lot of interaction with the horses. The glamping domes were very comfortable and nicely decorated. There was a grill by the communal campfire for cooking, but you will need to bring your own pots and pans, utensils, plates, etc. You should also bring your own drinking water. The terrain near the domes is rocky and uneven, so you should bring good shoes, even if you don’t plan on hiking. You have to walk for a little bit to get to the outhouse, but it is the nicest-looking and nicest-smelling outhouse you will ever see! If you love horses, put this place on the top of your list!

An Unforgettable Encounter

MacKenzie and her wild mustangs are absolutely incredible! Our visit was so much more than we imagined — not only did we gain fascinating insights into positive reinforcement training, but we also had the joy of experiencing it firsthand. Every moment felt inspiring and heartwarming. The entire team at the property radiates warmth and passion, making the experience truly special. And the campsite domes, fantastic. We left with full hearts and a deeper appreciation for these majestic animals, and we will most certainly be back!

Beautiful, but not worth the price

Rustic Retreat

The space is gorgeous, and the horses are living their best lives. So much potential! The facilities were lacking for the price. The "hottub" was just a bathtub next to the shared shower, filspiderweb. needles and spiderwebs. The shower is poorly designed w/ no pressure. Also, the hot water was off. The domes were incredibly cool, and that was one of the highlights. On the downside, they are all in strange places, clumped together. The firepit & communal space was directly in front of our window & it was slightly awkward. The big dome is even cooler, I did yoga & meditated early in the morning. It's about a quarter mile from the other domes down a gravel road, though a truly beautiful walk. The dome itself is awesome, although its not well maintained. Trash on the ground, weeds growing inside, lines of muck on the walls, and air vent tubes poking out. Overall, I liked the space, not worth the price. I wish I had more opportunities to interact w/ the horses, we just didnt have the time because of our roadtrip schedule.

I found Wild ride and Wild Peoole while searching for a place to have some R&R after being in the hospital for 11 days. Mackenzie’s staff is AWESOME! Mackenzie … is a beautiful, hard working, business lady who treated me wonderful! Thank you Chris, Chris, Jody and most of all “MacKenzie” for making me feel SO at home! Great Experience, Great Cause

My partner and I decided on a whim to spend a long weekend here. We are so glad we did! We loved everything about this. The domes are very homely, the grounds have everything you might need (except potable water, but there are plenty of places to get that for yourselves nearby) and you’re never very far from any horses. The hosts are kind and very accommodating. They are also clearly very passionate about their work caring for and training wild mustangs and donkeys. The fact that proceeds go to support their nonprofit is excellent. They are doing great work with their consent-based training program. The guided horse tours and demonstrations are very fun and informative, so make sure to book those with your stay. The surrounding area (within 30min in all directions) also offers lots to do and great places to eat. Can’t believe a place like this exists <90min from Boston! We will definitely be back for another visit.

Our family of five (kids ages 5, 9, 12) had a great time. This is a family-run operation. Mac Kenzie and her husband and in-laws were superb hosts who went above and beyond to meet all of our needs--extra fans, hats with bug nets, frozen water bottles, you name it. We were there on a very hot summer day. The dome was hot and stuffy during the day but cooled down to reasonable sleeping temperature at night. The outhouse was clean and not one bit smelly. The campsite had some extras we were not expecting--bug spray, spatula and tongs for the BBQ, towels. The two double beds in the Comfy Contrasts dome are lofted one over the other. The three domes are very close together, so had there been other guests, we would effectively have all been camping together. The hike with horses was extremely worthwhile and gave us a much better understanding of the work Wild Ride does. They took us on a comfortable, easy walk to accommodate our kids, so don't be intimidated by the description of the hike as steep and strenuous. We did a little other hiking on the property, but there wasn't a whole lot to do. or see. I would definitely recommend this spot if you have activities planned nearby (and Mac Kenzie and co were full of recommendations) but would not suggest relying on the property itself to provide all your entertainment. Fantastic Weekend!

We had the most amazing weekend with our 7 year old. The hosts were so warm and kind and we loved learning about how to train wild mustangs. We went on a hike with the mustangs and they all have such unique personalities. What a gift this place is for them. We also found it to be a gift! The domes were beautiful- comfortable beds and a small private space to change. The three of us were very comfortable in Serene dream but we will bring our other two children for the bunk beds next time! The bathroom (outhouse) was so nicely decorated you forget about the smell ;) The campfire was fantastic and there was wood ready for us. My husband and son played corn hole and we grilled for dinner. The grounds are fun to explore and all while seeing the beautiful mustangs roam! We will definitely be back.

Loved our glamping trip!

We had such a wonderful glamping experience! Mackenzie was a wonderful host. Our kids absolutely loved the horse training demo. It was a highlight of the trip and so special to be a part of it. The hiking trails were peaceful, and the outdoor tub was the perfect way to unwind and soak in the natural beauty around us. It was both fun and relaxing. Really a perfect blend of adventure and serenity. Highly recommend! 🌿🐎✨

Glamping with the horses was fun!

We were traveling in New England and decided to try this cool glamping site instead of booking an ordinary hotel. It was a great choice. We stayed in a geodesic dome complete with two real beds, woodstove, dresser, small table with chairs, and a nice leather sofa overlooking the woods. The pictures of the interior are accurate, and there was also a power bank for charging our phones. The dome is one of three clustered close together with a shared fire pit, on the grounds of an equestrian facility for rescued mustangs that was really cool. We got to watch the horses eat and play, as their feeding station was only about 20 yards from the domes. The woods surrounding the campsite are beautiful and largely untouched. There are several trails worth exploring, one of which leads to a giant dome used for large groups and yoga. Keep in mind that this is a rural area and cell phone reception is not good near the domes (Verizon), and at the time there was no wireless near the campsite, so plan accordingly. Both calls and texts were spotty and often took several minutes to go through. Facetime did not work. Internet browsing was not possible. The other cell phone providers may work fine...we had Verizon and it did not. Other than that, it was a fun stay, for a good cause, and I would recommend.

Glamping with Mustangs and Donkeys!

Rustic Retreat: Equestrian Glamping

Words can’t express the hospitality and love when staying here at Wild Ride! Kenzie and her husband were genuine, easy going, and sooo knowledgeable about all of their rescue horses! Kenzie trains them with a flawless method filled with intuition and true love for her horses! The accommodations were fantastic! I felt like I was in the woods at a cozy retreat in the Netherlands! We stayed on the coldest night of the year (temps in the teens) My only suggestions is bring a really warm sleeping bag bc the dome doesn’t keep the heat for very long. Highly recommend this establishment and i’ll def be back with friends in the future!

We loved camping here! It was very quiet and cozy, very relaxing. Being around the horses was super cool and we even got to watch a training demonstration. The only downsides were the shower did not work and was completely open on top (underneath the trees) and there were huge spiders in the bathrooms every night! Other than the bathrooms and showers, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Also, the domes only slept 2, 3 would be pushing it, and they are advertised as being able to accommodate 4 people.

Amazing Property

Had a wonderful time camping here for Father's Day. Trails were interesting, horses were beautiful, and MacKenzie was incredibly accommodating and friendly. She even took us on an unplanned tour of the southern trails and showed up acres of blueberry bushes. My daughter took everything in (at least when she wasn't napping on my back :) P.S. Bonus points for Star Trek fans -- you'll understand when you get there!

Great place for a break.

Tent camped at "primitive" site by the creek. Lovely quiet spot far from the the active areas of the property. Lovely sound of the creek running, plus birds. Probably would have had a lot more going on, animal-wise, had it been later in the season. I didn't avail myself of any of the add-ons because I am not actually a horse person. The woods are criss-crossed with former car paths, deer paths, and (potential?) horse paths, and there are plenty of deer...check yourself for ticks and consider bug spray!
