Quiet spots on a farm not too far from Fruita. The picnic tables are a nice touch. I spent a peaceful night there.
Danny is a hard-working farmer and a gracious host. I'll stay there again, and you should too!

Loved this campsite! Not only was Danny (the host) super welcoming, he also showed us many wonderful sites we could choose from and even offered us a tour of the 200 acre property. The best surprise was his 4 incredibly loving and sweet dogs that came to visit us periodically throughout our stay. They played with, and snuggled with my dog and us, and we couldn't have been happier! From this spot we were close enough to explore Grand junction, Palisade, and Grand Mesa and will definitely stay again to explore the other surrounding areas :)

We had a great experience camping on Danny’s land. We stopped in for a quick weekend soccer tournament and it was just what we needed. Danny was a great host and the camp spot had great open land for the kiddos to run and play. The creek running through was a nice touch and listening to the water run at night was peaceful.

Beautiful property and easily accessible. Picnic table was nice to have out dinner on. There is a farm dog that loves to speak its mind starting at 5 am but stops around 10pm.

Danny was the sweetest man. He has multiple sites and no one is near you. Sunsets were pretty. Pups were free to roam. You do want to show up before the sun goes down because he needs to direct you to your site. It's not obvious but you pull in and you call him and he shows up with a smile ready to get you where you want to be.

Beautiful location and nice host. However, the farm dogs came to our site , barked and barked at us and then proceeded to mark their territory on our sand mat outside our van and the side of our bug tent. The same dogs and the neighbors dogs barked almost continuously all night ruining the peaceful environment of the camp site. Wouldn’t recommend unless you like barking dogs.

We stayed at Danny's farm for four nights to do some mountain biking on Fruita's famous trails. The property is about equal distance to 18-mile and Kokopelli, the two areas we were most interested in. We also did a road ride from the farm, thru town and up and around the Colorado National Monument. Danny is a friendly "gentleman farmer" and we chatted a couple times during our stay. Also met his four dogs who will come down to the two closer of the four spaces he has designated. These are closer to his house but still private. We also spent one of the nights further out into the fields. This one is higher elevation with a better view of the mountains on the horizon, but more exposed. Either way, it's a great place to stay as long as you're OK with farm/ranch terrain and not the most beautiful scenery in the world (which we weren't).

Danny was awesome to work with. We made a last minute decision to push home from Arizona to Colorado. Danny allowed us to come in after hours and gave us direction on where to set up without disturbing anything. We got in around midnight and were back on the road by 7am. It's always awesome to have a destination for a quick sleep, and Danny made that possible for us! Also, his farm is sweet! We will definitely stay next time we are on the western slope!

Had a great time staying on Danny's land for 2 nights over Memorial Day Weekend -- there's BLM land nearby, but we booked here to ensure we got a nice spot and had privacy.
The spot we had was nice and level for our tent with a picnic table and fire pit. There's plenty of privacy (other guests were staying while we were there, but we never saw them - the spots are super spread out). Very quiet, easy drive to town for food/water/bathroom access. No amenities, so pack in/pack out.

Great little place to camp and wonderful host! Not the most scenic if you’re looking for epic desert views but those views are just a really short drive away. Will definitely come back if life allows!

Danny was awesome. We chose the top of the hill and had a great shade tree. We saw a herd of mule dear down in the field, a rabbit, a hawk and the cows did what cows do (but they are kept in a fenced field). Danny supplied some wood for a fire. If you're lucky, he might show you his car collection!

Danny’s place was so much fun and private! I made a few animal friends and enjoyed hearing all the farm animals at night. I wish I could have stayed longer, but I’ll definitely be back. It’s very close to 18 Road Trailhead and downtown Fruita. Danny was also very kind and genuine. Next time I visit I want to learn more about his farm.

Danny's farm was perfect for our plans. It's convenient to town and all if the places we planned to visit. The picnic table and fire ring were great additions. We enjoyed seeing all the lambs, kids and calves that were born right before and during our stay. It was a peaceful experience.

We stayed for four nights while we were waiting for parts to come in for our small Class A motorhome. Danny provided a great place to park the motorhome. We were entertained by Danny’s friendly dogs and some deer that came by each morning. It was interesting to walk around his farm and see the various types of equipment he uses.
The Blue Angels air team provided a special touch to our stay with their air show.
We hadn’t planned to stop at Grand Junction, but if we had to breakdown somewhere, I’m glad it was near Danny’s on that weekend.

The place was easy to find, the hosts were nice, and it was quiet.
But, it is a farm! No desert views or wildlife viewing. And all campsites are on dry grass with foxtails, which were a real nuisance, especially for the dogs.

Danny was a great host! Site was private with plenty of shade trees. There was also a picnic table and fire ring at the site which I was not expecting. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Delightfully quiet place

We stayed in one of the two sites by the creek and under its bluff and found it to be a very private, quiet place. In the pre-dawn hours we were treated to a chorus of birdsong. Over the course of our three-day stay we identified at least 20 species of birds. A fox also made an appearance.
The site is excellent for a pop-up camper or camper van, but perhaps less ideal for a tent as it’s in a rough meadow.
There’s a colorful picnic table and a fire ring. We were very happy to be able to have a campfire after so many years of fire bans. That’s not something we were able to do in the Colorado National Monument.
We also enjoyed a number of different half-hour walks around the farm including along the irrigation ditch. Especially good at sunrise/sunset. A very polite ditch rider did let us know, however, that ditches are not public access. Good to know!
It was a pleasure to meet Danny and his three dogs.

Such a great find! Danny is an excellent host and his ranch is lovely & such a perfect location! He met us as soon as we arrived and showed us the spots so we could take our pick. We had a lovely spot nestled in the trees with a picnic table and views of the mountains. Super peaceful! Our dogs loved being able to hang out off leash and the ranch is fun to walk around. The 3 other spots also had campers but they are spread out so we only saw them when we walked a ways down / drove out. The two spots in the wash you'd see the other group, but it's such a large space I doubt you'd hear each other. Danny himself is super friendly and kind, a great host. We chatted about ranch life for a bit which was very fun to hear about. The cows and sheep were out roaming, as were most of his dogs so we only met Pepper who is a perfect angel! Would highly recommend - this was our first hipcamp and the bar is set high :) Thank you again Danny!

Beautiful spot close to town and on the way to 18 Road trails. Danny is a great host! Lack of toilets is the only downside but the Colorado Welcome Center (rest stop just off I70) has nice bathrooms only 5 minutes away.
