Your base camp for Gold Medal fishing at Spinney Mountain Reservoir, or just some relaxation and stargazing! Once a gargantuan ranch, this section of South Park has been subdivided into residential and recreational lots so more of us can enjoy the local beauty, and remains sparsely populated. Learn more about this land Enjoy exclusive use of this six-acre spread which features trees, rock outcroppings, and absurd mountain views. Remote yet accessible by county road, the property is a few miles from Hartsel, where you'll find a general store and saloon, and the other historic railroad settlements of Park County. (Learn about the South Park National Heritage Area at southparkheritage.org.) The property has flat (but not *quite* level) areas for tent setup and also gently sloping and wooded areas for exploring. All supplies (including water) must be packed in, and all waste packed out. I stashed a collapsible picnic table behind the big rock and you're welcome to use that, please just fold it and stash it again. There are no structures at all on the property. Per Hipcamp and local zoning, you may not relieve yourself outdoors; you must be in a vehicle or privacy tent. There is a fire ring. If you intend to make a camp fire, YOU MUST LET ME KNOW so I can call the Hartsel Fire Department. They will then tell me if there's a burn ban in place and I will relay that info to you. This must be done no later than 24 hours before you plan to burn. Hipcamp will sometimes turn on my fire ban based on data from the National Weather Service. The only way to know the full situation is for me to call. If you see some expensively outfitted motorcyclists cruise by, they're from the Rawhyde Training Camp up the road so give them a wave!Enjoy exclusive use of this six-acre spread which features trees, rock outcroppings, absurd mountain views, stargazing, and QUIET. We loved this spot and it was relatively easy to get to with the directions. The spot was private and had great views! Loved being able to drive straight to a spot and not search the dispersed areas for the holiday weekend or deal with any loud noise. Thanks Eric!

One of our favorite Hipcamp spots!

Hidden gem - I almost don't want to recommend it so it doesn't get booked up by others 😁 Perfect spot for our sprinter and we loved the big fire pit and wood available. Very quiet and well maintained camping area. Our dogs loved exploring the area as well. We only stayed one night but we will definitely return to soak up the unbelievable views.

Loved the views and privacy! We did not see any other lights/buildings/etc. while we were camping out there. The fire pit and folding table were big bonuses. Overall clean and tidy camp grounds. Recommend getting there in the daylight as navigating the road and finding the path off Dog Soldier was a bit tricky in the dark. Eric was very helpful and response!

Myself, my fiance and three dogs had an amazing and very peaceful time!! Beautiful views and no one nearby so we felt comfortable letting our dogs roam around off leash which they loved. Would definitely come back in the future!

What a special place! The directions were spot on and took us right there. The road before you turn onto the campsite road was a little washed out and took careful navigation but had no issues getting through it. It was so peaceful and quiet up there and the views were to die for. It was great that there was a small picnic table and the fire ring! Make sure you take a peek at the sky if it’s clear, the stars were amazing. 100% would camp again!

Great spot, very secluded and peaceful. We were there over Memorial Day and had no traffic driving by and no neighbors within earshot/sight. The campsite does not have a great level spot for a tent - there's a flat area but it certainly isn't level - so no issues for a trailer but ground sleeping was challenging. The view from up the hill from the camping area is fantastic. Fire ring was great, directions were accurate and the picnic table is a nice-to-have. We were unfortunate to visit during a super windy day which cut our trip short but would definitely go back!

We had a wonderful time camping on Erin’s land. The directions were great and the bumpy road didn’t give us much trouble. We pulled a 22ft travel trailer to the spot and it maneuvered just fine. The highlight for us was hanging by the fire ring and taking in the stars and moon rise. It was spectacular! Our dogs loved it and had plenty of space to roam and sniff. We love to hike in the FairPlay area so this home base was perfect. Can’t wait to hopefully return!

Eric's land is a fantastic place, located on a hilltop with an incredible vista. There are plenty of different locations on which to set up your tent or park a small trailer. Eric sends you very easy directions to navigate to the site, and is very responsive with any questions.

We really loved this spot for camping! This piece of land has the feel of hike in camping with how secluded and remote it is - BUT, you still have the convenience of having your vehicle at the site with you. Beautiful views, great location for day trips, and quick communication by the host. We will be coming back.

Our group had such a lovely time camping at this spot. Incredible views all around! The peace and quiet was so restorative and serene! Beautiful Aspen groves to walk through. Beautiful sunset views. It felt private, safe, and accessible. The host was helpful and timely in communication.

This was the perfect escape from reality that I needed. As you’re driving down this long, washboard riddled road for 9 miles you wonder, have I made a mistake? Then you turn onto an even rougher road with big rocks and ruts and wonder, is this right? When you finally pull up to the sight (directions were spot on, by the way), you think, ah yes. Perfect. Yes, it’s remote. But yes, it’s quiet, clean, and beautiful. The little table left for use was awesome. We didn’t light a fire, but the firepit was nice too. There wasn’t much shade or ability to set up in the shade if you’re a tent camper, so bear that in mind if it’s a hot trip. I dragged my little teardrop trailer down there without much issue. As the host states, just go slowly. My dog had freedom to roam and sniff all the sniffs yet still stay close and safe. I had a decent signal with AT&T most of the time. I will definitely be back!

The campsite was perfect! We booked for a weekend getaway. There was no one around, lots of privacy. Views of the mountains are perfect!!! Aspen coverage if there happens to be some wind. And a nice fire pit for a campfire (if no fire restrictions). We really enjoyed our stay.

Great site and extremely private. We were there for 2 nights and only saw one vehicle drive by the site. The views are fantastic. We were surprised by the lack of wildlife in the area - incredibly quiet at night. Two fire pits at the site, and good tree coverage for when the wind picks up. The only downside was the 10 mile dirt road drive to access the site - but once you’re there, it’s well worth it.

We spent a lovely night on Eric's land. There was a little rain the day before, but the road in posed no issue. Once there, it was very quiet and peaceful. About the only people we saw were some motorcycles heading to a camp a little further down the road, but we did not hear them after they passed. We enjoyed the evening with a light show as the sun was poking through the clouds in between periods of rain. Wonderfully peaceful. Cows are roaming free and you might hear them mooing through the night.

This place is AWESOME!! Eric was extremely helpful with answering any questions that I had and was a great/ accommodating host! The views are insane! Sunrise and sunset are gorgeous and a cherry on top is you can see the Milky Way Galaxy at night! Pretty close to Eleven Mile Canyon also to get some quality fishing in! Highly recommend this spot!

Directions given were spot on. I usually plan for at least one wrong turn but encountered none. I have a stock Toyota Tacoma and a 15' trailer and had zero issues or concerns driving to this site. Once I got to the lot marker it was a little confusing knowing where to turn in so I did have to walk out to make sure I had adequate space to maneuver around with my trailer. The site itself was pretty sloped but made it fun to try and level the camper. Close to a block of Aspens and rock formations it really makes setting up your camp with a western view pretty awesome. We hiked through the trees and also on the dirt roads. Great for running! Will be back for sure. Very peaceful and only a few quiet passerby's.
