We named our property the Twisted Branch after one of the big oak trees that sits on the site where you will camp with us! It's on a hilltop with amazing views in nearly all directions. The campsite faces South/West so sunsets are fantastic. We use no chemicals on the soil or annual grasses. It is very quiet and the night sky is always stunning. Owls hoot at night and Redtail Hawks hunt for ground squirrels during the day. We have alot of Acorn woodpeckers living in the oak trees, the ones with the bright red head feathers. April through June we see bright yellow Orioles. At night you will hear hundreds of little frogs in the nearby ponds, depending on the season. We are located in the heart of Wine Country and there are plenty of activities around us and in town.Peace and quiet, views all around, clear, starry nights, in the country but minutes from town.  This is what you experience at the Twisted Branch in Paso Robles, CA. The site is on top of a hill and overlooks vineyards and ranches. It is flat and amenities are minimal. It's the perfect place to unwind, decompress and enjoy nature. The 180+ degree views are incredible.  You will see birds, deer, fox, rabbits, and other wildlife.  The dirt driveway is a bit steep for larger RV's, therefore our limit is 20' and 4 wheel drive is recommended. There are several large beautiful oak trees with heavy low canopies on the way to the site. In the summer and fall, there is risk of damage to higher-than-standard trailers. We are near Sculpterra Winery and Cass Wineries. The town of Paso Robles is 4 miles away and has anything you may need. Our dirt driveway is somewhat steep. Some campers without 4-wheel drive and pulling a trailer have not been able to get to the top of the drive. This has seldom occurred but we want you to know this. Most trailers and 2-wheel drive vehicles do just fine but if your trailer is extra heavy, it could cause you a problem. Feel free to contact us prior to booking; we're happy to help out. During the summer months, there are cattle here grazing. We move the cows prior to your visit. We ask that you book by 3 pm so we can get them moved and are ready for your arrival. If you cannot make the 3pm deadline-to-book request, contact us and we will do what we can. We look forward to sharing our little piece of paradise with you!

Peace and quiet, views all around, clear, starry nights, in the country but minutes from town.  This is what you experience at the Twisted Branch in Paso Robles, CA. The site is on top of a hill and overlooks vineyards and ranches. We loved our stay. The views were amazing. We could have stayed a week on Jac’s property. The perfect place to get away for a night or two and unwind. We will be back!

Couldn't have asked for a nicer host or a more beautiful place to camp. Jac was super warm and welcoming (he even left camping chairs and a tub with takeout menus, playing cards, and amenities) and the site is spectacular -- big views of the surrounding hills and vineyards, big oaks with the namesake twisting branches, and a big sky filled with stars at night. Put this site on your list.

What a view!

The view is amazing from the spot. It was quiet and our dog loved being off leash. Lots of birds and we saw some deer a the way to the property. You could hear sheep every morning from the neighboring farm. The Porto potty was very clean. Was very windy one night but we just stayed inside.

I recently had the pleasure of camping at Twisted Branch, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. Perched on a hilltop, this spot offers breathtaking panoramic views that stretch for miles. Whether you’re catching the sunrise or the sunset, the scenery is truly beyond belief. One of the highlights for me was the stargazing. The clear, open sky allows for an incredible view of the stars, making it the perfect spot for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy the night sky. Wildlife is abundant here as well—during my stay, I spotted deer, hawks, and a variety of other birds nearby. The peaceful surroundings really give you a sense of escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The directions to Twisted Branch were straightforward, so getting there was no hassle. Jac was wonderful—welcoming us at check-in, offering helpful advice, and checking in at the end of our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend Twisted Branch for anyone looking for a serene spot to camp in.

It was a bit of a steep climb to Jac’s site but well maintained and well worth it. Views are stunning and my kids loved watching a few little gophers pop in and out of their hidey holes. Also appreciated the instant booking option and prompt response times. Would recommend and stay again!

Beautiful view, gorgeous sunset. Fell asleep to the sound of frogs. Jac is very friendly. Took us on a tour of his composting operation. We will stay here again!

Wonderful Views and Peaceful Getawa

This little plot of land was a welcome gift for us to unplug, enjoy amazing views, as well as look at the night sky. The hosts couldnt be more accomodating, and the site was so beautiful that we had a hard time leaving. Only going into town for some wine tasting and meals. Off the beaten path, but not too disconnected if you forget anything. We will most definitely be back!

Second visit as good as the first

This was our second visit to Jac’s property, and it once again did not disappoint. The quietness, proximity to Paso Robles and Cambria, and the cool nights and sunny days made for a perfect weekend, Our pups loved basking in the sun and my wife was able to get a tour of their compost operations and bought some compost to take home for our garden. This hipcamp is definitely on our favorites list for when we need a weekend away or if we’re just passing through. Highly recommend.

This stay was everything I wanted & as expected. We wanted a trip between Christmas and new years. The weather was great, chilly but not uncomfortable. It is a private stay with picnic table, restroom and water. The restroom is clearly serviced before guests because it is such a clean porta potty. Jac was a lovely host. Google maps will take you right to the entrance and it’s just another short drive up to the site. We did not have issues finding it. We drove out to go to Sensorio and it was 14min drive. Upon checkout, we went to scuplterra winery which was just 5 mins away. Cool site to visit!

A private FLAT spot on a hilltop with beautiful views overlooking wine country - sunsets and sunrises! Very friendly and unobtrusive host. Spotless porta-potty. Reasonable rates. The write-up said that amenities are limited and that's true. Having water on site is nice amenity to have here. Would absolutely return. Gem of a place. The road on the way out to the left is the shortest distance on the unpaved part. The road to the right is a longer distance on unpaved and it was in washboard condition when I was there. Rough ride, but turn right out of the drive if you don't want to drive on that.

Jac and his wife greeted us at the entrance to their property, were welcoming and made us feel comfortable about staying on their property. The camping area was clean, with a picnic table, chairs, a goody box with games and miscellaneous camping items. The porta-potty was clean and Jac has it cleaned weekly. I love that there’s only one spot too so my family had some privacy.

Jac was an amazing host and we plan to return. We had just had to evacuate due to fire and this trip was just the peace and restoration we needed. The site is easy to get to, private, wildlife, amazing views and a host to beat all hosts! Thanks for sharing your wonderful land!!
