This is the perfect place to relax! Truly! Ozzy and Diane are wonderful hosts, they gave me such a warm welcome. There are so many thoughtful details both inside the house and outside, I was amazed and already looking at dates for my next booking. The bed was so comfortable, I honestly didn’t want to get out of it.

Great host James, place is cute and comfy, as described, very quiet but does not feel isolated next to village road, August but did not feel too hot or cold if you take it easy (but watch out for bees!! they come for any moisture but not aggressive).

Nice place to getaway from the city life and just slow down for a bit. The stars were so clear and bright and listening to nature. The outdoor shower area is a nice touch! James def put in a lot of effort to make the area private.

The Squattage was so cozy!! The hospitality that Ozzy showed was unmatched.. he really looks out for his guests. The game setup outside was all time. Overall great experience🤘

This was the perfect cozy cottage to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary! At the base of the Sequoia National Forest, among nature and the peace quiet, we were able to Retreat + Recharge + Reconnect. Ozzy built this cottage thinking of every little comfortable he could put into it including two fans inside that my husband was so happy about! And Diane decorated the cutest cottage to feel like a home away from home <3 What a dynamic duo! We will definitely be back!! :)

It was so peaceful, quiet and beautiful! 🤩
It was a plus to have a bathroom in the cabin, it was very small but perfect for what we needed! It was nice to unplug and enjoy bonding time with my fiancé. It was also fun to cook on the fire pit and made fresh coffee every morning. We also went hiking to the Trail of 100 giants which was just a short 30min drive. We hope to stay at the squattage again soon!

We absolutely loved hanging out at The Squattage this weekend. Ozzy puts so much love and care into the property, he really has thought of everything, it was so cozy and just what we needed. Got to meet many of the locals, everyone is so lovely. The local general store can't be missed, and you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't ask Ozzy about the local trails. 1Mil/10 I would stay here again and recommend anyone looking to get away for a while do the same and book a few nights at The Squattage. You won't regret it!

The space was super cute and had everything we needed for a comfortable one night stay. Towels and soap provided, comfortable bed, working outdoor shower. Aussie was incredibly helpful and kind.

One of a kind spot! Hosts are super friendly and helpful. Loved watching the sunset while cooking dinner on the outdoor fire pit after a day of hiking to nearby streams and waterfalls. Small space but does the trick of providing a home base with rustic mountain charm.

My first Hipcamp experience was wonderful! The squattage has a large, lovely outdoor space for eating, relaxing, and playing fun games (like axe throwing and bean bag toss). The owner takes pride in this little glamping tiny home, as he should! It’s absolutely adorable. Would definitely stay here again!

I absolutely LOVED this spot! I glamp 3-4 times yearly always looking for unique creative places. This is at the top of my list! James is a knowledgeable host and very helpful. He answered so many of my questions prior to arriving. The neighbors are all friendly and the area is VERY safe. The hens’ eggs were yummy too! There is a store just a block or two away. Having the propane fire pit was an added bonus and well worth the few extra dollars! The loft bed upstairs was SO cute AND comfortable! Very clean! Refreshing outdoor shower was perfect for me after backpacking 45 miles in 2.5 days on the PCT! I’m definitely returning in the near future!

James was wonderful. Cute little squattage. He utilizes a grey water system for the water which was for me, a big plus! Quiet and close to a lot of hikes. I'd recommend this for sure to anyone! Thanks James!

Really nice spot. Everything is great. If you want to cook you will need to bring everything. Perfect for a weekend getaway or a night stop on your road trip. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

We absolutely adored the charming little cabin that Mr. James crafted with such care, it was a delightful haven for our camping adventure. The cabin itself was a masterpiece, nestled amidst the serene beauty of nature. James, our host, was not just friendly but also incredibly accommodating, paying attention to every detail to ensure our stay was memorable.
One of the highlights was the outdoor shower, allowing us to revel in the bliss of nature while cleansing. The upstairs bedroom window was a picturesque touch, offering breathtaking views of the surroundings. Additionally, the nearby market added a touch of convenience to our stay, providing local produce and unique finds.
Despite the tranquility, the village, though quiet, had an enchanting aura, especially at night when it turned eerily dark, adding a touch of mystery to the atmosphere. The occasional hoot of an owl or rustle of leaves created an immersive experience. While the lack of nearby activities meant we had to embark on drives, these journeys revealed hidden gems in the vicinity, making our overall experience even more rewarding. Our stay was nothing short of amazing, filled with cozy moments, natural wonders, and the warmth of Mr. James’ hospitality, making it a truly unforgettable getaway.

The Squattach was so relaxing and fun ! James has really thought about all the little details and created an original repeatable experience.

James' home is ingenious and perfectly thought out. From the glowing moon rocks, to the handcrafted soaps, to the perfect location of the lounge chairs to star gaze every detail every part of the home was incredibly well thought-out. A perfect place to relax and disconnect.

My wife and I loved our weekend visit to James's quaint tiny cabin. The Squattage is a very tranquil and well-designed site. Even though it is right off the small road that runs through California Hot Springs, it feels very private since it is surrounded by tall trees. James (Ozzy) welcomed us warmly and explained how he had built the cabin with many sustainable features, including using recycled wood, running on solar energy, and watering nearby trees with a greywater system connected to the shower. We loved the cosy layout of the cabin, with a tiny sitting room, counter, bathroom, and loft. The propane fireplace was great for cooking all our meals and making s'mores.

James puts extreme care into every choice made and it shows! I was only able to spend one night and can’t wait to return for a longer stay. The sleeping area is so comfortable. The attention to detail and love is ever present. I’m a smaller person and was traveling alone and felt extremely safe on this property. Highly recommend it if you want to be in the forest with some great people nearby in case you need them. After I checked out I went and hiked 100 giants trail, which was magnificent. Then I returned to the diner/convenience store near the squattage for lunch and to check out the crafts fair that they had going.
I also bought a lovely ring from James! Be sure to ask him about jewelry, woodwork, and other cool things that come from the workshop on the property.

Ozzy (James) was an amazing host. He was very patient with us as we ended up arriving much later than planned. He showed us around and explained all the ins and outs of the tiny house. This was definitely one of the coolest tiny homes I’ve stayed in. It had an awesome bunk bed. The outdoor shower was so nice and the I totally recommend buying a propane tank. The fire pit is extremely nice in the evening and was really pretty easy to cook on. Morning coffee on the fire was nice too.
I can’t speak more highly of this cottage. We’ll definitely be back.
