Center of the campground, next to Common Area with group Firepit and Bathroom building.What to Expect With this Glampsite-MEALS - At this time The Ranch at Lake Sonoma does not have food options in the campground...Stay tuned this may change soon. Please plan ahead and bring your food and utensils. There are common area BBQs and a firepit at each tent available for cooking. Each tent also comes with an ice chest, anything you want kept cool, bring a bag of ice with you for the chest. Ice is also available for purchase at the Marina.POWER-We provide 1 Solar powered USB plug per tent for night time emergency phone charging. We are fully sustainable power wise, thank you for practicing clean energy with us! We do not have high powered outlets in the campground, but do have a plug for charging computers at the barn if you need something charged briefly. No high powered plugs for hairdryers on site. (this may be updated for next time you visit.)LIGHTING - We provide 2 Battery powered lanterns per tent. Permanent lighting in the tent is solar powered. Nikki the owner of the camp site was super responsive and accessible :). The campsite was beautiful and well kept as well as easy to find. Nikki was nice enough to offer us a different campsite at no extra cost because we were the only ones there for that weekend. Perhaps the winter weather drove people to stay at home but we experienced perfect conditions. We even ventured down to paddle kayaks and fish on the lake :)

Lakeview Campsite 1
A beautiful spot to land just a short drive from the Bay Area. The views of the lake were mostly obstructed by low lying fog save for a few moments of sun during our stay. But all good...love the fog too. And during a holiday weekend in November, it was sparse with visitors. Just perfect. This site is one of the more private and larger, level sites. Clean porta potties. Few short hikes right from the site. And a short walk/drive to the marina. We decided not to kayak this time but it was so peaceful on the lake. Probably a rare moment. Not sure I would stay here in the prime camping season as the sites seem very close with little privacy and imagine the lake gets busy with boats and jet skis. But we'll surely be back again for late November through winter camping.

I enjoyed my stay for one night. It’s winter so the campground was almost empty. Campsites and restrooms are well maintained. At check in, ask about drinkable vs non-drinkable water. More signage would be helpful!

The check-in was easy and the people who checked us in were very friendly and helpful. The campsite was nice but we didn’t realize it was a generator friendly campground. Would not recommend if you’re looking for peace and quiet. They do have quiet hours from 10pm to 8am but sitting by the campfire listening to 2 generators made an otherwise pleasant experience almost intolerable. Also, dog poop was everywhere so we picked up 8+ piles to avoid stepping in it in the middle of the night. Our campsite’s trash can was full when we got there. Either off season and less help or they need to fine tune their operation a bit.

Gorgeous spot! You go to sleep on top of the world and wake up in the clouds. I’ve switched from the site I reserved, 23, to site 9 as all of them were available, lol. The host was very attentive and checked on me a couple of times. Accommodated a late checkout, too. Would return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for neat places to stay.

The setting is beautiful and peaceful. We loved the sunsets, sunrises and dark skies at night. The host was great in helping us with directions and picking a site for our needs. Very clean. This is a great place to camp close to the SF Bay Area, especially if you are a tent camper. However, there are still some improvements needed to make this worth the $80 a night. Potable water. Bathrooms, not portable potties. More level campsites. Unless you’re on the lakeside, this was not the place for our 21 foot campervan. Getting it parked and leveled was a chore. Things they can’t help but you should know. The flies were plentiful, which is a feature of Sonoma County from April to Autumn. Sites at the top of the hill get lots of road noise, starting early. Overall, and despite the challenges we liked this place a lot, but would hesitate to return unless we could get a lower site.

Large Lakeview Campsite 9
Camping at The Ranch was a great experience! The area is surrounded by several wineries, and there’s a nice 40-minute hiking loop if you want to get out and explore. You can also go horseback riding or head down to the marina for more outdoor fun. We stayed at Campsite 9, which had a beautiful view of the lake and plenty of space — enough to comfortably fit two cars, 3-4 smaller tents. There’s no potable water on-site, so be sure to bring your own. The portable restrooms were impressively clean, and the host was incredibly kind and welcoming. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay, and I’m looking forward to coming back with my family next year!

Belated review, but this place is such a find. I needed a spot not too far from San Francisco along my drive from LA to Seattle, and most campgrounds were already booked. I snagged a site here, and I'm so glad I did. The campground is small and privately owned, and each site was spacious. Check the map to see the ones with the best views. The port-a-potties are pretty generously dispersed, so you don't have a long trek to a bathroom in the dark. The views are the best part. If you're going for that classic camping feel, like those scenes from old family movie nights, this is it. Quiet, no crowds, and plenty of nature. Bugs are often a part of the camping deal, but I didn't notice any when I visited mid-October. The hosts are, arguably, just as lovely as the views. They've clearly put their heart and soul into this place. They offer trail rides which are well worth the cost, and the horses are all very well cared for. 10/10, will definitely go back again.

I enjoyed myself camping at site 20! It was my first solo trip and everything went incredibly smoothly. The portopotties were exceptionally clean! Almost as if they had never been used (a very rare site in most places lol). There were a couple trails nearby to hike and seeing the horses giving ride tours was a real treat. I just wish I had time to hang at the bar! That barn was so cool! In all, it was a pleasant experience

Great views, access to hiking and lovely hosts! Fire pits and firewood available to enjoy. Great stargazing!! Clean porto-potty's on site. The Marina is a very short drive (or simple downhill walk) for boat rentals. We enjoyed a few hours on a patio boat, some swimming and sight seeing on the lake. Best to reserved your preferred boat in advance for the best selection.

Check-in was great, site 100% as described. I think I came at the wrong time; flies and wasps. So many. After cooking a bbq I couldn’t eat outside. Flies swarmed my dog , really so many that I almost left. I only booked two nights so I figured it out. Is September a bad time for this site? Other than that I would stay here again - pick your time.

Nice campground, some smaller and some larger sites, most with shade. No running water (as announced) but pit toilets were plenty and clean. Easy access to the lake and free (by foot :-). Hosts (David and Nicki) were friendly and helpful.

We loved tent camping by the lake. The area was really lovely, 40 min to the Russian river, we enjoyed playing in lake Sonoma on the book ends of our trip. Would love to come back and hang with some horses, or enjoy a lake rental. Host was very accommodating and helpful.

Overall, we had a nice experience. The campsite was large and private with a grand view. However, a few things to consider: did not see a potable water source, no true beach to hangout during the day. We were charged an extra $20 to use the Marina resort lawn but really no good space at the waters edge. Also, the price to camp for one night is pretty pricey.

We loved camping here! There is great access to the lake (~1 min drive) with boat rentals, beautiful sunsets, and even though we couldn't use the fire pits, Nikki provided propane fire pits for rent. There is also great access to great vineyards in the Dry Creek Valley! Our campsite (21) was large, and we managed to fit three cars and had plenty of space.
