Catherine was a wonderfully friendly and caring host. We enjoyed talking with her. She regularly checked to make sure all was well. Horses, chickens, frogs and crickets, hawks, orioles and woodpeckers- it was a very sweet spot to stay.

People apparently had a good time at this place in 2025 to give it good reviews and the owner seems nice, but we found this place to be uncomfortable for camping in Feb 2026. We can't recommend this place. If we knew ahead of time what it was like, we would have gone elsewhere.
The campsites we found when we got there looked nothing like the photo that attracted us to the place. The title photo for this property shows a picnic table on some grass by a creek. There was not an inch of grass to be found anywhere. We bailed after one night due to a campsite that consisted of nothing but deep loose dirt, mud, sand, rocks, and debris. The picnic table was covered with misc stuff, leaves, and debris. We couldn't find one spot that looked nice enough to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee.

Catherine was really good with our kids. She communicated with us throughout the whole booking. Great little farm with 15 chickens, stable of houses and nosey dog. Great spot for some private camping.

Catherine was such a wonderful host. She made sure we were comfortable and let our kids explore her ranch. Our kids loved the horses. It was really quiet at night. We will come back.

Has a really nice time camping at The Ford. The site is large and has lots of shaded, usable space. Tons of greenery and birds. It is close to a road and cars can be loud at night. Bring white noise or earplugs. The chickens were really fun to have nearby, and the frogs and crickets go crazy at night. Bugs are present, but not aggressive. Had a really nice stay.

Perfect little camp. Nice location close Ojai and Ventura. Also near the Ojai - Ventura Bike Path, great for biking and walking/running.
If wildfire conditions weren’t so bad we could have enjoyed a camp fire.
Friendly horses and a dog. A rooster will wake you up in the early morning.
I would visit here again.

The pictures of the property need to be updated. The creek is completely dry, there’s random poop everywhere on the property including in areas where someone would pitch their tent. The water smelled like boiled eggs and the floor had wood chips in a large area which made it very unpleasant to walk in or even try to set up camp in. I wasn’t allowed to start a campfire because “people get nervous with the smell of smoke”. That’s literally the main highlight of camping. I was really bummed out that this wasn’t how I expected it to be. The host was nice ish but it didn’t make up for the unkept property and Hipcamp site. To top it off the cars speeding near the site was loud all night. It literally never got quiet or serene. Do not recommend.

Catherine was a lovely host! We stayed at the Ford tractor, which was beside a clear creek with tons of wild watercress. The sound of crickets and frogs at night was so soothing. Just to note: expect cell service to be limited, although we didn't mind unplugging for a few days. Will definitely be coming back!

Catherine was the most accommodating host. I had a hard time getting my stakes to stay in the ground and so she graciously allowed me to set up at her other campsite on her property. Her ranch is beautifully maintained and having a bathroom made it super convenient. Also ranch dog Kierra was the best welcoming committee, beware if you pet her she won’t want you to stop!

Very peaceful place to lay your head. Was able to sleep at night to the sounds of frogs, owls, and other wildlife. Woke up to some deer and a few woodpeckers. No noise from people and the nearby road can’t really be heard. Host was very kind and helpful, gave me a tour of the grounds, gave me tips on nearby experiences, and was very welcoming.

We had a lovely time at Catherine’s place. The grounds are fabulous. The camping spot was perfect. Great shade and beautiful scenery. We loved petting the horses and chatting it up with the chickens. Only 20 minutes to the beach and 10 to Ojai.

Catherine is an awesome host! Largest campsite I've ever stayed on, beautiful sounds of birds by day and frogs by night. Bathroom setup was perfect. No shower, but they do have running water and a porta potty.
10/10 will be back if we are in the area. The camp dog was a bonus!

Very clean and quiet space for some good relaxing time in nature. Will definitely come again. Excellent communication by host. Great spot for lake and ocean fishing. The domestic and wildlife were such a cool thing to wake up to. Thanks again!

Loved our stay at the FORD campsite. Private, nice ambiance of toads and creek water running, plenty of shade, running water, a toilet, and a couple tables. Will be back!

We loved tent camping on Catherine’s ranch! Our group was 3 mothers (and one father) and 3 toddlers in 3 separate cars, so finding a site to accommodate all of us was very difficult. Catherine had no problem. We all fit with room to spare at FORD Tractor Site.
It was all the way at the end of the property so it was private and cozy. We are sure to come back soon :)

We had a great stay! Easy to find the campsite, loved being by the stream and there was so much wildlife and nature. Quiet site for a good night of sleep and we even heard owls after the sun went down! Beautiful area and we felt safe as well. Was happy that there was a water spigot and clean port a potty. Would love to spend more time here sometime.

It was an amazing place. I enjoyed listening to and seeing horses, chicken, and many frogs. The creek is very close and about 2-3 feet deep. I'd enjoy visiting again.

I picked this camp because it said dogs were accepted. I read the reviews that said the property owner had a dog but kept it away from the campsites if there were other dogs. Upon arrival we were given a welcome letter stating their ranch dog is friendly with people but not other dogs and asked that we keep ours on leash or in the car and to not introduce our dog to the hosts dog. I had just finished setting up the tent, when the host left the property and left her ranch dog out loose. It came to our site creeping slowly towards my dog that was on leash. It appeared to be stalking my dog and we were very unsettled at what may happen. I called the host, she came back to secure the dog but didn’t say a word to us. Not feeling safe, we packed up instantly and left to find somewhere else last minute during X Games weekend at Ventura Fairgrounds. The host refunded our money.

Wow. What can I say about this place! It is close to Ojai and the ocean but far enough away that you feel remote. The land around you and the rushing creek is a perfect view. But the best part are the animals on the farm. Our kids fed the chickens and horses with Katherine, and she even shared some of her fresh laid eggs with the kids. It was a magical stay and we will definitely be back!

Catherine is a very down-to-earth individual who's overal character and aura is extremely hospitiable. I went on a whim and sent Catherine a millon questions when I was looking for the most isolated, quiet, and serene spot next to a bed of water; and to my benefit, she was more than understanding. Even more, she was so kind that I felt comfortable sharing a part of my story and bonding with her -- which is not common with someone as eccentric and off the beaten path as I am. Overall a great spot under the care of a very kind person. 10/10 would recoomend if you're a fan of the sound of water at night, an orchestra of frogs, and stars no city guy is accustom to.
