We just stayed at Quails campsite, and it was an great experience! The site was clean, spacious, and set back from the main road, offering a peaceful atmosphere with a stunning backdrop of a rocky hillside. It’s a perfect spot for stargazing—absolutely breathtaking at night!
We had two trailers (27’ and 31’) on this site, and it worked out great with plenty of room. While there were a few sketchy turns navigating in with the larger trailers, we managed without any major issues. Make sure you follow Jon’s directions exactly because we almost missed a turn.
The location is ideal, conveniently situated between 29 Palms and Joshua Tree. If you’re planning to visit Joshua Tree National Park, we recommend entering through the 29 Palms entrance—the lines are usually much shorter than other entrances.
Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a serene basecamp for exploring the area!

Jon’s spot was the perfect place to enjoy Joshua Tree’s natural beauty. The camp site was private and had unobstructed views of the mountain- truly a gem. Incredible star gazing spot after the sun went down. We plan to come back!

This was incredible! Not too far from things, but st the same time you feel super secluded. Campsite was facing Joshua tree national park and you’re literally up against it with crazy rock formations. The concrete slab with wind shelter was perfect for nights cooking and drinking wine with friends. Lots of entertainment with the golfing pitch and super easy to retrieve balls. The campfire is HUGE! Being your own wood and you’ve got the best fire to stay warm. Local neighbor has a rooster, so that was honestly perfect for the picturesque sunrises. Also, who needs to go into the park for stargazing? Stars were INSANE at this campsite. I can’t wait to come back here—memorable stay in the desert for us Joshua tree lovers.

This camp site is great. It’s clean and taken care of and really enjoyed my stay. The shade area is really nice and the concrete was a nice change of scene. The fire pit is nice and spacious. The view at night really is peaceful. I’ll be back with the fam for sure.

I had an amazing time camping on Jon's land. It was peaceful and beautiful and I had no issue getting there. It was the highlight of my JT trip for sure. Jon was super helpful and kind and I will definitely be back! : )

Jon’s spot is perfect for anyone looking to camp in Joshua Tree, but unable to get a weekend spot inside the park. The spot is well marked and easy to find (even at night), is peaceful, has all the amenities you’ll need including a hammock, charcoal grill, and fire pit, and is perfectly situated 10 min away from both the entrance to JT and nearby Yucca Valley, if you’re in need of extra supplies. Highly recommend!

Beautiful and private campsite with lots of space to romp around and explore. We saw a desert tortoise! So many wildflowers. The location was easy to find and centrally located to supplies you may need to pick up and super close to 2 entrances for Joshua Tree National Park. We would totally reserve this location again. The hammock, shade cover, fire pit and all the other small touches made the camp even better.

This is such a nice campsite in the desert. Really enjoyed it and would definitely be back.
There’s a shade structure, picnic table, plenty of nice flat spots for a tent, and a fire pit.

Jon's land is truly a gem. It is nestled in the deserts nearby Joshua Tree. For campers who enjoy having a good cozy space between sites, this is for you. The site is so similar to staying at a yellow post site except this site provides way more space and a few extra amenities. The concrete pad was perfect to fit my gazelle tent at night and a nice little spot to hang out with the lawn chairs during the day. I love that the fire pit included little tools to manage the fire and the grill was awesome little amenity as well. i didn't have to pack a burner and my friend didn't need to take out his skottle. Our pups got to roam around the land (which does have a few cacti but the boys excellently avoided them) and they loved chasing the chuck it ball we tee'd off in the little golf pad. The site was easy to find if you read the directions. The stores/markets are about 10-15 minutes away so you don't need to worry if you forgot to grab some firewood for a night full of campfire stories. We had such an awesome stay at Quail's and hope to come back one day for another overnighter since it's not too far away from home. Jon was quick to respond to my many messages and he's such an excellent and considerate host.

The Quail Camp was a perfect, tranquil campsite offering plenty of space and privacy. The small details of the camp show it's cared for and kept clean. We enjoyed the shaded patio, hammock and campfire pit and appreciated the rock path lit at night and the cooking area. The hosts gave easy to follow directions. We're looking forward to another trip!!

Really awesome spot, tucked up against some beautiful rock formations and lots of space to yourself. We happened to be there on a SUPER windy night, and being exposed it kept us up a little, but honestly worth it for such beautiful view of the stars. It was nicely kept up, and fun to play a little bit of golf.

We had so much fun camping at Quails! It felt very private which is what we wanted, and with the provided directions it was easy to find. The amenities that were provided - covered patio, firepit, golf, ect - all made the experience even more enjoyable. The flat graded parking zone made it easy to level our trailer and camper van. It's a perfect jumping off point for experiencing JTNP being centered between the two entrances. With the rocks behind camp it felt like being in the park but without the crowds! We will definitely be back!

Absolutely breathtaking. My partner and I have stayed all over the desert and Jon’s place is honestly one of the most beautiful, especially if you enjoy large rock formations. We’re already planning a return visit.

This camp was absolutely as advertised and my dog and I spent two lovely, chilly February nights there. Directions were clear. Booking was straightforward. It was quiet and the sunsets and sunrises were beautiful. It was a little tough to get my camper van level.
Joshua Tree National Park was close and we enjoyed a long drive, with several nice walks, on a weekend day when most of the campsites in the park were full. We found all the amenities we needed either in Twentynine Palms or the town of Joshua Tree.
It was very pleasant to wander the property at various times of day and we would enjoy a return visit!

This was the perfect spot for a group camping trip in a beautiful desert landscape. The highlight was the remote feeling of this campsite compared to camping at a campground, there’s no neighbors to interfere with your serenity. The hosts were very responsive and helpful. The destination would be hard to find, but the hosts provided excellent directions. Would definitely stay here again. Loved it!

My mom and I had a great girls weekend to Joshua Tree! Quail's Campsite was the private, safe location we had in mind. It was cold, rainy, and windy, so we'll have to come back when there's better weather to enjoy the patio, hammock, and firepit! Recommend to campers who are looking for beautiful scenery and privacy. I'd also suggest bringing a way to level your trailer, van, camper, because the pad was slanted quite a bit. Otherwise, 10/10.
