Beautiful spot to settle for exploring the area. Loved the privacy of being the only campers there. Enjoyed walking down the path to visit the cows and ponies. Beautiful, clear starry skys. Very clean porta potty. Dan stopped by to greet us and give a brief explanation of the property. Very quiet in the mornings. Just some sounds from the neighbors (kids yelling, dirt bikes and music at night). Otherwise love this location and would stay again.

We had a relaxing, wonderful stay at Dan and Marian's. The camp site is in a big meadow and there was plenty of room for our kids and dogs to run around safely. The site is very quiet and private. Lake Francis is a 5 minute or less drive away where we had a beach to ourselves and spent the afternoon kayaking.
We enjoyed wine tasting and learning about the history and process of wine making. Dan and Marian were gracious hosts and we look forward to camping here again.

Great spot which was formerly used to grow alfalfa. There’s lots of room and several areas perfect for setting up a hammock. Many options for outdoor activities close by and the hosts provided information about the area upon check-in.

This is a great spot! The campsite itself is huge, the toilet was very clean, and Dan and Marian were really lovely hosts. They even let us join in on the family grape picking harvest! There are lots of good hiking trails in the area, the Yuba River, Lake Francis, and other sights we didn’t check out. Overall we really enjoyed our visit and can’t wait to come back again!

Pretty, super spacious site with lots of areas tents could be set up. Dan and Marian were friendly and welcoming. There was even access to a bathroom and outdoor shower which was an unexpected plus !

Unexpectedly delightful. Warm, thoughtful host who went out of her way to make us comfortable. Loved the wine tasting. We chose the site to watch a meteor shower and it didn’t disappoint. Two thumbs up for this wonderful experience.

One huge camp site accommodated me and four friends, each of whom had their own tent (due to Covid). This place had everything we needed, was quiet and peaceful, not far from the north Yuba where we spent the days cooling off in the water!
Note: the site does NOT have fire pit/BBQ, which is good bc fires are so common in the area. Also, the ground is a bit sloped so bring sleeping pads to make up for that.

Dan and Marián are the best hosts. The site is beautiful, secluded, and spotless clean. They are also very warm and kind people. There is a lake near by great for great swimming or you can visit their winery and try their beautiful wines. Great atmosphere and hosts. Can’t wait to be back!

Oaks Ranch was a perfect place to camp. We loved the peacefulness of the land, the stars at night, petting the horses, and spotting wildlife. Most of all, we appreciated how kind and welcoming Dan and Marian were. We hope to go back soon! Thank you again for everything.

This is a lovely little campsite, great for stargazing. Onsite there is a portapotty and water spigot, which was plenty for us - portapotty was very clean! Dan gave us a great recommendation to visit nearby Lake Francis, and I regretted not bringing my bathing suit 😄 We would happily camp here again, potentially with a larger group as the site is spacious and could accommodate that (when there isn't a pandemic happening, of course).

Dan and Marian are so welcoming and warming. The site is near their vineyards which are beautiful and very spacious. Perfect picnic table, water spout, and extra clean Porto potty. They also live near by and let us use their can and wine opener. The lake nearby is very recreational and fun as well!

I was looking to get out of the city but also be conscious about social distancing so this was a true find! Huge private campsite with a super clean porta potty, picnic table, water spigot and trash can. I setup on the east side among the trees for more shade. Cell coverage is spotty. It was the perfect getaway!

Dan and Marian were so pleasant and the sweetest hosts. Marian came down and met us (while maintaining social distance and with a mask on) when we arrived and gave us a little information on the area as well as a few of their local recommendations. The campsite is mostly level in a large meadow but with enough shade if you wish to park in the shade. There was potable water, a picnic table that would easily seat 8, a trash can, and a well kept port-a-potty for use.
HUGE perks: wine tasting at their winery, quiet morning walks by their vineyard with your coffee, lake with beach less than a 5 minute drive, and an even bigger lake (pay for day use) with delicious (and cheap!) ice cream about 15 minutes away.

Fantastic spot! Marian and Dan were very welcoming to their secluded camp site. The sure was very clean, which is obviously very important right now. Would definitely recommend staying here.

The site is the only hipcamp at the vineyard so it was very private. We stayed in a beautiful meadow with shade around the edges, and our kids loved running around it. We also loved walking around the property. There were even some miniature ponies that live on the land, that we got to go see. We really enjoyed swimming in lake francis as well, which was right down the road and great for our toddlers.

Dan & Marian were wonderful hosts. Their kindness enhanced the great experience I had at their ranch. Very nice old trees and plenty of space to set up tent and hammock. It was one of the top hipcamp experience that I had so far. Super private and quiet and a very nice walk around the vineyards. The port-a-potty was super clean, and the water spigot does have a filtered drinking water so just bring your bottles. It has a great open space for star gazing (it's truly remarkable). Definitely coming back.

Marian and Dan’s property is exceptional! They have acres of peaceful , beautifully maintained land, and they share it with trust and confidence. Marian was as sweet as can be and very accommodating.We had our dog with us and there was plenty of space for her to roam around and explore without interrupting anyone. We stayed at this campground for two nights and loved our stay! Location is awesome if you’re looking to explore the many lakes in the area. We even made a day trip up to Sardine Lake and enjoyed the scenic drive very much. Stay at this campground if you’re looking to immerse yourself in nature be within your own little retreat.

On a lovely little vineyard. Look for the Lucero vineyard sign, the Google maps directions aren't quite right. The space was spacious and the property had a pretty decent walking space. We brought our dog and she enjoyed the open space. There are a lot of weeds so some sharp stuff on the ground. It is big enough with a little bit of poison oak around, so watch where you step. Overall the grounds are kept well. They are doing some renovations that will make it into a nice small event space.
Dan and Marian are very nice older couple who run the winery and wine tasting room. Although it was no open when we visited. We did purchase couple bottles.
There are some neighborhood dogs around that aren't all that friendly but yelling at them kept them away and then ignoring them, they left.

The stars are incredible here! I've never seen so many before in my years of camping. Such a beautiful location, we only stayed one night but will definitely have to come back.
The campsite was big and open with some trees providing shade. The land is well maintained and had a nice picnic table and clean porta-potty, and a potable water spigot. It's nice private space in a mostly quiet area, there's a road that passes by on the other side of the field but only has the occasional car passing by.
The lovely host, Marian stopped by to welcome us there and gave us some info on the general area. I would recommend stopping by Lake Francis it's a nice spot to cool down and go for a swim.

Nice place to stop if passing through the area. Host was very welcoming and though the listing says no bathroom or shower, there is a flush toilet and warm shower on the property that guests can use. Recommended if looking for a place to camp in the area.

We stayed overnight at Squirrel Acres. Marian is very sweet. She came to greet us when we arrived and said we could stay as long as we liked/didn't need to checkout on time.
While we were kindly offered the use of bathrooms/shower up at the house - we didn't feel like trekking up there, so we used the portapotty on site. While very clean, it was on wheels and was a bit like a circus ride/tilt-a-whirl when using. Once you got used to the movement , it wasn't as disconcerting as the first time! :)
My one suggestion for the site - would be to move the portapotty to a different spot - it was right next to two perfectly spaced trees that would have been great for a hammock- if not for the proximity to the potty.
The site is private - you're the only ones there, which is great. However, you are in a rural neighborhood and there is some car traffic. In addition, we happened to be there on their bottling weekend, so it was a little busier than normal ( which didn't bother us at all)
If you choose a time when the moon isn't as bright - it would be a prime star gazing location. We happened to have a fuller moon, but it was still a beautiful evening despite the moon stealing the show.
All in all, it was a wonderful stay - we enjoyed having the space to ourselves - stayed up late trying to catch a glimpse of a meteor shower - to no avail. There is Lake Francis a few minutes away - great spot for a swim and a picnic lunch.
This would a be a great spot for families that want space for kiddos to roam without worrying about them wandering into another camper's site.
We would definitely consider coming here again for another star gazing camping trip. Thanks Dan & Marian!

We had a great stay here! We were a group of 5 and had the whole campground to ourselves.
Lake Francis is just a 5-minute drive down the road and an excellent spot for paddleboarding and swimming. A little bit further, about 15 minutes, is New Bullards Bar Reservoir. The water is a beautiful turquoise color! It is set up a bit more for boaters, but we were able to find a beautiful beach at the Dark Day Campground. It's also just about a 30-minute drive to Oregon Creek and Yuba River swimming. Would definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for water activities!
Dan and Marian were very hospitable and welcomed us in for a wine tasting. It was great to learn more about the history of their land and the local community.
