Our property boasts 10 acres of private land nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills, while being conveniently located 7 minutes off highway 80. On a hillside full of mature oak, pine, and manzanita trees, Manzanita Mountain currently has five individual campsites, a community fire pit, and a bathhouse with two showers, sinks, and new porta-potties. Almost a mile of trails weave through a private forest on half of the property. Each spacious campsite has its own fire pit, water supply, food storage, and level surfaces to spread out your camp stove and gear. Or if you don’t feel like cooking, Auburn and Colfax are a 20 min drive or less with many great restaurant options. Manzanita Mountain is ideally located near excellent hiking and water activities too. Perfect for couples, families, or groups of families to enjoy the outdoors.

Site 1 is the most conveniently located site, only 50 feet from the parking lot and steps from the bath house, it is a nice private site that is very spacious with plenty of room for tents. The site comes with its own water supply, fire pit and plenty of flat logs for sitting and spreading out your camping gear. Nestled into the hillside with a view of the ravine, this site still feels private despite its proximity to the parking area and bath house. Large oak and pine trees provide shade throughout most of the day.

Site 3 is the largest site in the campground. This site is set back off the main path adding an element of privacy. It is 175 feet from the parking lot. You will need to go up a flight of 19 stairs and a short up hill walk to get to the site. It comes with its own water supply, fire pit, critter cabinet and plenty of flat logs for seating. This site is surrounded by mature oak and pine trees providing plenty of shade throughout the day. Neighboring site 2 is a perfect add-on site if you want extra space for larger groups. There are stairs connecting the two sites for easy access between sites.

This is the smallest site at the campground, however it still has plenty of room for a couple tents. This site is 110 feet from the parking lot. In order to access this site, you will need to walk up a staircase with 19 steps. The site comes with its own water supply, critter cabinet, fire pit and logs for seating. This site is perfect for smaller groups, however the stairs in the tent area lead up to Site 3 making it a perfect add on site for larger groups that need more space. This site is very centrally located which means other guests may need to walk past this site on the nearby path to get to the bath house and parking lot.

This is the most private site at Manzanita Mountain. It is located 225 feet from the parking lot. You will need to climb up 19 stairs and a short up hill walk to get into the site. It comes with its own water supply, fire pit, critter cabinet and plenty of logs for seating and spreading out your gear. This is a large site with plenty of room for tents. Lots of mature oak and pine trees provide shade throughout most of the day.

Group site (Sites 2 & 3)

Have a larger group? Site 2 and 3 work great as a combo site that is an excellent choice for larger groups looking for extra space. Conveniently located off the main path, it offers an added sense of privacy while still providing convenient access to campground amenities. Gather around the fire pit and camp kitchen in campsite 3 while taking advantage of the additional tent space in campsite 2. There is a convenient private staircase located between the two sites making it easy to get from one site to the other. The combined site is approximately 110 feet from the parking lot. To reach it, you'll walk up a staircase with 19 steps followed by a short uphill path. You will see Site 2 & 3 on the right hand side. Surrounded by mature oak and pine trees, the site enjoys abundant shade throughout the day, creating a comfortable setting for camping.

Cliff’s spot is awesome! Beautiful, clean, spacious. We loved chatting with him and learning what he’s doing with the space, and got to witness it in its early stages. His craftsmanship is stunning and we can’t wait to come back and see how it develops.

Beautiful campground—super clean and well maintained. Everything felt fresh and new. The host was incredibly kind and even helped us unload our camping gear, which we really appreciated. The location was easy to find, and the showers were amazing. There was also a very sweet dog that hung out with us during our stay, making the experience even more enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful time, Cliff was so accommodating and responsive. The showers were one of my favorite features. It was lovely to shower under the trees with hot water. The campground was well maintained, the toilets were very clean. I'll note that we had no cell service once passing the railroad tracks (a few miles out), but we enjoyed the brake from technology.

Nothing but good things to say about this site! The host is very welcoming and helpful the facilities are clean and private. The camp sites each have their own water source and a sink! Very helpful. There’s a bit of a hike from the parking lot to the camp sites goes from virtually no hike to site 1 to about a minute hike to camp site 5 HOWEVER the hosts have an ATV with a trailer and can help you transport your stuff! Also a nice bonus if you’re a dog lover there’s a local black lab that visits from time to time named Vader and he’s the friendliest most handsome lab ever! Will definitely be coming back I’m very excited to see how much more camp host Cliff adds to the site when we do come back. No complaints at all and there’s plenty of fun outdoors stuff to do just 15 minutes away! Highly recommend!

Camping at Manzanita Mountain far exceeded my expectations. The host, Cliff, was very responsive and greeted us as we arrived to let us know all about the land and the amenities of the camp, offering to haul all of our equipment in an ATV trailer up to our site (which was much appreciated since it was at the top of the property). We came to find that we were the first people to book the site and that this was a project that he’d been working on for over a year to bring to life. I could tell how much passion and hard work went into building this campsite and how grateful he was to see people finally enjoying the space. The bathhouse area was incredible, made by hand out of salvaged wood and featuring the most luxurious camp shower I’ve ever used. The site itself had its own running water/sink area, a countertop, bear locker, lots of wooden slabs and stumps for seating or to store items off the ground, and plenty of room to utilize. There was also a fire pit to use during months outside of fire season. Just off the site was a hiking trail Cliff built into the property which was perfect for my dog and to see some manzanita trees up close. We were there for the 4th of July and that morning, Cliff brought the whole camp donuts. We also ended up going to a local spot along the river that he recommended which was perfect to avoid the crowds of some of the more popular spots that day. All in all, I can’t recommend this site enough and hope to return some time in the future!

Cliff was a great host. He made the stay very comfortable and special with his great smile and friendly nature. Out of all campsites we visited so far in the area, this was best in cleanness, convenience, and safety. It is new and feels personal.

This was one of my favorite camping experiences of my life and I go camping all the time, I even owned a camp ground for a very short period of time and I was so impressed with this place. You can tell the owner put a lot of thought into what you want when going camping and what you probably don't want. We stayed at camp site 3 which was a sweet spot for us. It was close enough to the bathrooms while giving us a absolutely breath taking view being a bit higher on the mountain. Our site seemed to be a bit larger then the other sites and we definitely made use of the space. There was 5 of us so we had 2 large tents and 2 hammocks we set up between some pine trees. I loved that there was so much to do close by. We went to Rollins Lake one day and Bear River another day. We also hiked the Manzanita Mountain trail which winds around the side of the property and was great for the kids being only about a mile long. Shops, restaurants, grocery stores and anything else you would ever want or need including Bass Pro Shop is just a short drive away. The amenities were amazing. We had an epic outdoor kitchen right at our camp site with water and countertops made out of huge trees. There was also hot showers at the bathrooms which we took full advantage of after our lake adventures. This was such a great ran campground I really can't say enough about it. We got to meet the owner and his son and they were so kind and made sure that we had a blast. We will definitely be back.
