We really enjoyed the solitude and beauty of this camp.
It was a fun drive (in the 4W).
We were there in Oct and at dusk a lot of flies appeared, but after 40 min they kind of all died of somehow.

A perfect desert escape under the stars
We had an incredible stay at this private campsite just outside Joshua Tree. The location was exactly what we were looking for—quiet, secluded, and surrounded by stunning desert scenery. At night, the starry sky was absolutely breathtaking—some of the best stargazing we’ve experienced in a long time.
The site felt very safe and private, giving us a true sense of peace and solitude. Benjamin was a fantastic host and provided clear, detailed directions that made finding the site easy. We appreciated the care and thoughtfulness that went into the experience from start to finish.
Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to disconnect and enjoy the beauty of the desert.

Joshua Tree South Private Campsite
The site was incredible. Very private. Well maintained. The stars at night were unbelievable. The host was responsive, available, and helpful. The challenge was getting to and from the site. It is along a narrow dirt road that is rutted out in many spots and best suited for a jeep or atv. We were in a sprinter van with 4WD and given size and weight of vehicle the drive was sketchy and very very slow going, and the beautiful cacti lining the road scratched the heck out of our van. We won’t forget the experience, but would not return.

Me and my 3 friends tent camped here and it was awesome! The stars are so clear out there and there are plenty of mountains to climb. As the description says, a 4x4 vehicle is definitely required as there are 2 pretty steep hills that a normal car couldn’t handle. The fire pit is very large, and it even has an elevated platform that can swivel over the fire so you can place a pan and cook things. There was no outhouse but it wasn’t much of a problem because there’s a gas station about 15-20 minutes away. Overall, such a cool place and would definitely go back.

Amazing site, totally secluded from everything but the desert and the stars. A fun and legitimate 4WD trail to get there, but easy enough to navigate. Benjamin was super responsive. Highly recommended!

We had such an amazing time! This property is magical and we are completely in love with this spot. Being out there all on our own with great hills to climb and rocks to explore was exactly what our family needed to unplug and relax. Seriously a slice of heaven. We'll be back and thanks for sharing it with us!!

It was exactly what we wanted for a remote campsite. It was a beautiful setting and Benjamin was very helpful with directions and any other questions we had. We only stayed 1 night but would love to bring our whole family out for a longer stay. There is plenty of small dead brush to burn for a campfire, but it burns quickly, and I will bring some of my own larger fire logs for our next visit.

Benjamin's property was amazing and very private, so good we didn't ever leave because there was so much to explore around us. I would recommend walking through some of the dry gorges running between the larger hills and mountains. We made fires each night and played our music as loud as we wanted, definitely a great perk being so isolated!
Be careful if you hike up any of the taller mountains nearby, the gravel is very loose and we had some scary moments (it looks tame when you're going up!). I also would not recommend driving in with a smaller SUV, we drove in on a Tesla Model Y and it was tough to get in, though not impossible.
Would highly recommend and I would come back in a heartbeat!

A great spot, isolated and yet fairly quick trip to 10-FWY and supplies. Gorgeous hills, spectacular moonrise. About one hour drive to enter Joshua Tree Park for hiking and sights.

Perfect place for a pop-up tent campsite! Benjamin was thorough with his directions and was easy to communicate with! Took around 15-20 minutes to get to the campsite and we loved the trail to the site just as much as the site itself! It was so nice to runaway from densely populated San Diego and enjoy some peace and quiet in the desert. We loved how private it was & was close to the south entrance of Joshua Tree :) thank you Benjamin!!

Benjamin is an excellent host. He sent navigation pins to show the way and even stayed with me by phone until I reached the campsite safely. The site is simple, clean, and beautiful.

Truth be told, I was apprehensive about this spot. We were only there for one night so $115 after taxes & fees seemed expensive for what you get (a patch of land w/ a fire pit). Didn't have friends to split with so...it was pricey. But having the whole place to yourself plus that amazing off roading experience made it all worth it.
Good:
-Huge land to explore. I'm sure you can find a new trail every day (Even Ben, the owner, hasn't finished exploring everything yet!)
-off roading trail. I just bought my Crosstrek and was itching to use it outside. This route was everything I needed
-Ben is such an awesome person. His excitement and enthusiasm is infectious.
So so:
There's a shade structure but the I'm guessing strong winds were to blame for the bent metal pipes. We needed to be creative with where and how you tighten to get the car under the shade. I did a few taut line hitches that held up perfectly during my stay but honestly unsure if it's still up 😅. The property also has a "bathroom" but it's just a toilet seat on a stand. Didn't end up using since nature was more convenient than lugging my pee back home HAHAHA
It's also far from the main section of the park so if you were planning to camp here, go to the park, then drive back, make sure you give ample time to return before nightfall. Hard to drive that road if you're unfamiliar

Truly a unique experience. Quiet and private patch of desert out in the middle of nowhere yet only 25Min from the main road. Host was awesome guiding us all the way.
4x4 and ok with driving on rough road is a must. We had a 4x4 sprinter van and it was ok

Our stay was wonderful! Extremely secluded from the outside world, which is exactly what we needed. The stars were PHENOMENAL. We definitely recommend this campsite. Benjamin was great to speak with on the phone, and directions were clear. Definitely need the 4x4, no joke. We had fun driving our jeep and exploring on the jeep trails.

My son and I absolutely loved the campsite. It’s like you’re all alone and the only ones in the world. It’s quiet and peaceful. It’s a trek to get to the site but a fun drive. I would absolutely stay here again. It’s a very special spot.

Definitely for 4 wheel drive but once we got there it was super fun and private spot which was perfect for a large group. Will definitely try to come back soon!

Benjamin was straight up with everything. He let me know that you basically need a 4WD to get to the site. His directions were perfect. The site has a nice shade to stay out of the sun and an outhouse (bring your GLAD Bags). In the evening we caught a beautiful horizon to horizon sunset.
