Super eclectic campsite. Plenty of space and we basically had the place to ourselves. Has a working toilet but no sink to wash your hands so bring your own wipes/water for washing. Robert was super nice and hospitable. Would definitely stay again!

Joshua Tree camping experience
Great host, showed up when we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed and then we didn’t see him again for the rest of the trip, really close to the park too. It was a chill spot with a fire pit and grill all ready for use.

The place was a wonderful spot near Joshua Tree National park. Rob's place was well thought out with wind blockers as well as a lot of open space. It is 15 min away from JT and close by to a lot of stores just in case you're out of supplies. Rob the host is a great man. I got stuck going somewhere it was little too sandy and needed help. Him and Alex, after I waved to them for help, instantly dropped everything to help me. It was a mission that lasted two hours. Getting his car stuck while trying to get mine out. And then getting his car out to wench mine. It was honestly, a beautiful moment of humanity where all of us were strangers but we were sweating and struggling to get this car out. I was so humbled and Rob left me with words of wisdom that I'll take to my grave. We're always in a rush and living with such urgency. He told me by the time you get to his age, that years seem like months, and months feels like weeks, and weeks feels like days.. He said align your flow to the sun and the moon, as they revolve around the solar system, it takes a little time but it takes care of all its needs and requirements. I'm not sure if any of this made sense, but this experience is definitely something I'd remember forever as it felt particularly curated for me. Coming from a busy city, It was very relevant to hear.

Joshua Tree camping experience
It was a last minute decision to camp here, and I was pleasantly surprised at the site and the hospitality of the owner. The camp was well maintained and has everything pre-maintained, from great distance to each campsite, great forewood, table, chairs, fire pit, grill and more. Definitely going back again.

Very easy to find (there is service at the site). Super cute and each site had its own little wall to block wind and sun and there was also furniture. Fire pit and grill too! Robert and his crew are really friendly and chill. Great location right by the JT saloon. We will definitely come back next time!

The directions and description of the campsite were overall fine, as were the portapotty, firewood, etc. Decent site close to JTree, easy to find off of the main road.
My problem was that the reservation said we were booked for site # 6. When we arrived at the property, there were arrow signs for getting to sites # 1-5 but none for 6 and there was no site labeled #6. As you can imagine, this caused stress. I called Robert several times with no answer and sent a message on hipcamp and did not hear from him until about 30 minutes later. I was relieved that he called back and he clarified that unlike what the listing said, sites were 'first come first serve' and we could have any open site we wanted. When I asked about the lack of site #6 signage, he said that people "move things around all the time" and that is why there was no #6 on the site.
I understand that things get moved around, but it should be relatively easy to update the listing indicating 'first come first serve' and to post a site # on something large and permanent, like the wind break structures at each site.
So Robert, thank you for eventually getting back to me but please update the listing and info about the site to indicate that things are 'first come first serve' and post permanent site #s. This will prevent stress for campers. Thank you!

I highly recommend this camp site. Robert, the site owner, is extremely friendly and accommodating. He has built up the sites to include wind protection, some furniture, and even barbecues. The fire pits work great and you can buy cheap wood there too.
Be extra careful to only take the main hard packed roads to his property (unless you have 4x4) or you WILL get stuck in a sandy washed out side road. This happened to us and Robert happily towed us out.
The property is close to the national park and has easy access to the town of Joshua Tree. It is just north of the 62.
Great option for those visiting the park in the day and camping at night.

Loved this camping! Robert was very friendly & helpful. It’s a basic camping but has all you need for a night under the stars! Restroom (no running water) was very clean, few minutes from town and Joshua Tree park. Definitely recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay with Robert. Our trip started off with a bang getting stuck in the sand....NOTE TO ALL -- google indicates some of the washes are roads and they are NOT unless you have a proper off-roading vehicle. A normal sedan did not cut it. Good news is, if you follow the directions and turn on Rice, everything is fine, just a little bumpy :)
The great news was we contacted Robert through the Hipcamp messaging. He was quick to respond and towed us out of our little disaster! He's incredibly nice and helpful! The campsites are built by him and feature a nice wind retaining wall. The desert winds can get pretty strong and this completely protected our tent and belongings. He even fixed it up a little more while we were out hiking during the day.
The location is close enough to shops to be useful, and far enough away to be quiet. Just what we needed with not too far of a drive from the park (where we spent our days).
Would definitely recommend!

Our campsite was spacious and in a nice secluded area from other campers. They sold us more than enough firewood but we only used it one night because we didn't want to attract any more kangaroo rats like we did at first. The views were beautiful from our spot and we would love to stay again. It was very close to the national park which was a plus.

Just like all the other reviews you've read, this is the place for you if you enjoy the real nature of camping at a raw and bare minimal place. You shouldn't expect this to be some kind of 5 stars hotel with Rob waiting to greet you. He was out when we arrived so we just picked a spot...he was totally fine and cool though. It's fun to chat with him too. Rob is very helpful if you need anything.
The only thing I would add is that YES, there will be kangaroo rats at night...they don't do anything but my friends and I definitely freaked out all night cause of its appearance lol.

This spot was great. Close to the city and Joshua tree national park. Some chairs, tables, grill and fire pit are provided. Awesome view of the mountains and the desert. The restroom were very clean as well. Would recommend!

So much fun for a glamping experience in beautiful Joshua tree. Robert was such a welcoming host, getting us all set up at our campsite. He even offered to help us get the fire going, gave us tips on joshua tree, and helped us get our car loose when we got it stuck in the sand! Its not typical to find someone like Robert out there, but I would highly recommend Robert and his lovely property if you want a delightful experience.

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Aaron’s camp site during Joshua Tree’s in-park camping ban. The sites were secluded enough to feel like we had our own space, and there was more than enough room for 4 tents, 2 cars, and gear with plenty of room left over. Each of the sites have their own individual grills and fire pits, but you may want to pack some chairs as there are only a few at each site. The toilet was great - it had a running toilet, lights, and was very clean.
The camp site is far enough from the main road to feel like open desert camping - we could hear the coyotes at night and even saw a few, beautiful sun rise/set, stars, and moon. The entrance to Joshua Tree National Park was a quick 10 minute drive and very close to town for firewood, food, water, gas, etc.
Aaron is a great host, he responded to all of my questions promptly and even checked in with us in-person once to make sure we weren’t having car trouble.

Pro: the host was very nice and friendly. Also, don't expect that this is a National Park camp site - it is a private land, but it is well maintained and clean. Night sky was beautiful, if you are coming here during the winter, make sure you have lots of firewood (at least 5 bundles). They have wood here too but can run out fast. Also, local restaurants are usually open - you can do take outs near by (this review is on Jan 2021 during the pandemic shutdown). JT Kitchen and JT Coffee are near by...
Con: It's cold in winter months (This is con from my wife). Also another con is that there are local wild lives in form of Kangaroo rats. Cute but don't touch them - but they don't seem to mind your presence...and they stair at you...with very big eyes... 0_0 Other than this, its a beautiful site.

The host was very friendly and responsive when I needed more firewood on a cold night. The property is very close to the Joshua Tree National Park entrance, but importantly it's far enough away to avoid getting caught in park traffic on the way to the campsite. The sky is very dark at night, excellent views with only minor light pollution in the area. The toilet worked great and the decorations on the property reminded of stuff that would be at Burning Man! Very cool place, photos don't do justice. Just be careful with the wildlife. As with any other campsite in the area, store food in a place that coyotes and bobcats can't get into (ideally in your vehicle). Don't eat in your tent. Also, watch out for snakes, I didn't see any, but it was probably too cold for them to be out. I highly recommend this place for the money and proximity to the park.

Had an awesome time! The location is great being close by the park, and close to the little town. Was greeted by the host right away, and he made sure we had everything we needed. It was also nice to have an actual bathroom!

It is close enough to joshua tree to get there easy. You may want to have some ground clearance to get into the sites as it is a dirt road. Too many campsites for the property.

Aaron kept the place clean and well maintained. We had plenty of space, while seeing other campers nearby. The bathroom was beautifully maintained and we enjoyed seeing how resourceful the amenities were. Aaron clearly used recycled material to create a beautiful and comfortable site while maintaining the essence and atmosphere of camping. Super grateful for our first hipcamp experience!
