My experience at Dante’s lake was awesome. I booked super last minute (day before) due to being unaware of how many people were interested in camping over the MLK weekend. Dante responded in less than an hour of me booking. He texted me the direction and a meet up spot where he would help us navigate directly to the camp site. I texted him what we’d be driving in. We met him on camping day and he was super nice and helpful. He offered fire wood, told us about his lake, the canoe, his dog, goats, neighbors, and let us know he lived right by the lake. So if we needed anything we could come to him and just ask.
We unloaded. Tied our dog up on a stump. Went out on the lake in the canoe. Cooked burgers. Started the fire right before dark and passed out asleep around 8pm.
Going to bed listening to crickets, chickens, and owls was so surreal. My daughter slept all night.
The next working was awesome! Waking up to the lake, rooster, and birds chirping reminded me of a Folgers coffee commercial.
Definitely coming back some timethis year.

Dante was extremely helpful and communicative before we even arrived. He met us on time on the main road to guide us to the site. He gave us a quick tour and different options such as fishing or canoeing on the lake. He also brought us a fire pit to use during our visit. The neighboring site was a little closer than we expected, but was still a great place to camp. Would definitely stay there again.

I loved camping here! Dante was an amazing host. The location and view is wonderful any type of camping you plan to do, with lake and boats to use, fishing was fun and easy. The whole area is a picture worthy and the near by animals added to the outdoor experience you may have had to drive several hours away to get, rather your passing through town looking for a good campsite or want to do a weekend family get away. This place is awesome, will be booking again in the future.

Dante was great host who offered firewood and use of a canoe. This was a first tent camping trip for my two sons and when it was time to pack up, they both said they wish we had an extra night. We all caught a fish. The relaxing sound of the frogs and owls was perfect. Unzipping the tent door to the view of the lake in the morning was awesome. We saw ducks, turtles, egret, along with a few of Dante’s goats. Very peaceful and remote.

Great location. Very private and secluded. Dante the host was great to meet us and show us to the campsites. Kayaks are available to use. The whole setting is very quiet and relaxing. Perfect for two families.
Definitely worth visiting again.

The host was quickly responsive and informative to all my inquiries. He graciously met to guide us to the property, which was great! The fishing was fantastic for kids! They could fish close to the water’s edge and still catch loads of bluegills and even some largemouth bass - they had a blast! We’d certainly go back based on our experience.

Amazing spot. The trees provided shade that made the heat bearable. The water felt phenomenal. The kayaks and canoe provided were so much fun! And we were given firewood for a campfire as well. Highly recommend!

We had a great time on “Hidden Lake”. Dante was a great host- met us at the end of the road to lead us up to the site, gave us a silver lure (that my boyfriend caught two fish with!), and generously walked up to lend us a can opener for our dinner. The picnic table and chairs were appreciated and we were so lucky to have kayaks and a canoe to take out on the lake. Would recommend!

Dante was an amazing host. We had a larger group and he worked with us to accommodate our 2 tents and travel trailer. Communication was great since the beginning he quickly replied to all my messages and helped me book the site. We had 4 teenagers with us and they loved kayaking and fishing on the the lake.

This spot is great if you want a nice camp next to a lake in a safe and private area. The host is friendly and supportive, and the spot is very shady and cool. Pet friendly just make sure dogs don’t disturb ducks and goats. Lots of trees and the host gives access to canoes which were a lot of fun. It’s very relaxing. The Lake wasn’t swimming friendly or at least not for me. The water wasn’t clear enough, and parking is narrow and tricky on this camp spot. Drive with extreme car on the roads and in the camp spot you may end up falling into a ditch if you aren’t careful. All in all, the spot is cool, peaceful, very little problem with bugs. We couldn’t light a fire because of the fire ban at the time but would consider coming back, especially when we visit our San Diego friends.

We spent our Fourth of July at this incredible campsite and it was honestly the perfect escape. The lake was absolutely beautiful — peaceful getaway by the shore. The forest like towering trees surrounding the site made it feel like we were tucked away in our own little nature haven.
The host was super awesome — so accommodating and genuinely welcoming, which made the whole experience feel extra special. One of our favorite parts was the canoes and kayaking which came with the site — such a fun water activity that the whole family enjoyed.
If you’re looking for a place to soak up nature, unwind, and make amazing memories, I can’t recommend this spot enough. We’ll definitely be back! 🌲💦✨

My husband and I were here a few days to just getaway. I’m more the outdoorsy one than he is. This was not ideal for him. We car camped with a tent. We spent the days kayaking on the lake, fishing, swimming, or gathering by the campfire. Dante was an amazing host. He really wanted you to enjoy your time on this beautiful, relaxing spot on the lake. He showed us how to keep our fire going. Brought us wood when we needed it. We saw his baby goats. 🐐 The entire experience was what we needed to recharge. By the end of our stay, my husband said this was better than he thought it would be. We will definitely go back and we’d most definitely recommend to a friend or anyone who wants to get away and camp and be with nature. You won’t regret it.

I almost don’t want to write how amazing this place is because I want to book it again!!!
If you’re looking to escape the city and have an incredible lake day this is the spot. Super safe, shady and amazing views.
You can fish, swim or take the canoe out on the water. Dante is amazing and will bring you fire wood without asking (slide his son a tip, don’t be cheap!!)
We were able to fit 2 westy camper vans no problem. No cell service so make sure to stay in contact with Dante so he can meet you and drive you down!
Will 10000% be back, thank you again!

Wow, Just wow. What a great spot within 30mins of San Diego... I kinda don't want to leave a good review, because it's such a great place... I don't want it to get overrun.
We had the whole lake to ourselves, it even rained and we were fine under the cover of the tree canopy. Dante met us at the top and showed us the property. If you like fishing and camping and want to stay at the lake edge this is your place to escape. There are plenty of kayaks and a great canoe to hit the lake. I packed my wife and both boys in the canoe to fish out on the lake and it was so much fun! There's a swing rope and the water is great, just bring your watershoes and jump in. We will definitely be back and with friends its great for a small group! Thanks again Dante for a wonderful stay! The boys can't wait to come back... definitely this summer!

Spent two nights at the spot. Very serene campsite with plenty of shade and direct access to water. Kayaks are available for use and there is plenty of fish in the water if you want to do some fishing.
Dante was very welcoming. Would come back.

This spot is perfect for a peaceful weekend getaway. One of the things we loved most was the small, uncrowded setting—there was only one other camper nearby, which made it feel private and relaxing.
Dante was an amazing host! He gave us a warm welcome and generously stocked us up with firewood, which made our stay even better.
We also had great luck fishing and caught several fish. This hidden gem truly exceeded our expectations, and we’ll definitely be back!

We camped here as a group of 5 and 2 dogs. The weather didn't turn out in our favor so unfortunately we didn't get to swim in the lake like we had hoped. It was one of the first questions I asked and Dante said his kids swim in there all the time so if that's what you're looking for this would be the perfect place! You are right on the waters edge and even have kayaks and canoes and a rope swing to enjoy. Plenty of fish. My husband didn't have the right type of bait unfortunately but still caught a couple! My dog had a great swim that morning. The sound of the frogs in the evening was so relaxing, although we didn't have a lot of sun the whole area you are camping has plenty of trees overhead for shade! Dante had excellent communication and met us at the top. Those of us with AT&T had perfect reception! I want to make another trip out here when it warms up and take advantage of the lake. Couldn't ask for a better time and the drive out there is beautiful!

Where to begin!!! What an incredible time and stay at Hidden Lake. The 6 of us, three adults three kiddos and a big dog spent two lovely nights here and never wanted to leave! We caught (and released back) about 25 fish over the three days, and had many hours spent on the kayak and having a campfire.
