The location: We selected this location to get away from the city fireworks as our senior Lab is terribly afraid of them. We did not hear one firework, which made this the perfect location. The hosts will greet you and drive you out to the campsite, which is far enough to feel completely isolated. Also, there is cell service in case it's needed.
The hosts: Dave, Whitney, and Family were all excellent hosts throughout our stay. They were swift in responding to our many questions prior to our visit and also when we were in need of firewood during our stay ($25 for a wheel barrel full).
The campsite: The site features a large wooden shaded structure, cool bar area, fire pit, small bbq (for wood / charcoal), 3-burner propane stove, and larger bbq. One addition not mentioned in the description is the bathroom, equipped with a flushable toilet. You can tell a lot of thought went into this camp site.
Here are some things to keep in mind:
1. The hosts added lights all around the site which can be turned on with a gas/electric generator. If you need light at night, I recommend bringing plenty of lanterns, flashlights, solar lights, etc.
2. The nearest market is about 16-20 minutes away.
3. This location is about 1.5 hrs from Solvang.
Our group would totally recommend this camp site and we look forward to returning in the future. Thank you Dave, Whitney, and Family!
