Location is really good. You can walk to town and very close to Henry Cowell Redwoods. Was easy to find. Having the cider and wine tasting on site was a nice bonus. The flush toilet at the winery is convenient but it is way too far away from the campsites. Nobody wants to walk that far in the middle of the night to pee! I highly recommend adding a porta potty near the campsites. An outdoor shower would be a really nice addition as well. Weather was really windy when we stayed so it was a bit of a struggle to keep our tent up. Ground is very soft so I recommend you have long stakes and plenty of rope to secure your tent if it's going to be windy. Super quiet and peaceful at night. Overall was a very nice stay.

Great hosts! They were inviting and thoughtful. The property was beautiful. It was a seven minute walk to the winery, too. The description of the site is not completely accurate, but not a huge deal. The only bathroom is at the winery and it has running water. There is a garbage can in the camping area near the paddock. Because the camping area is rented out via two different apps, it can get confusing. Someone was in our reserved site when we arrived, but it was quickly fixed. Something to keep in mind, but it part of the experience of sleeping in nature: there was a group of crows cawing at 5:30 am every morning to awaken us. They were perched on the trees directly above the campsites, so it's loud. Just be prepared if you plan on sleeping in. Also, there are host dogs on site who roam freely. They are friendly and well behaved, so plan to rub some bellies. The location is fantastic because it's a few minutes away from the state park for hiking or Roaring Camp for train rides, and downtown Felton is also only a few minutes away. The natural food store had great sandwiches and salads that went well with some refreshing cider at the winery. Although it's not my typical camping preference, I would go back if I wanted to spend more time in Felton.

The camp is picturesque and so quiet with plenty of small wildlife to enjoy. John is quite friendly. The winery is very good! The site is within walking distance to town and Henry Cowell.

Camping at the Hallcrest Winery was a super unique and great experience! The entire family was extremely friendly and welcoming. It was so nice to have a big space for friends, dogs, and kids. Will definitely be back!

John made our stay really wonderful! The property is wide open and closer to town than we had imagined, but we still felt like we were far away from cares. The site was easy (though a walk to the bathroom!) There is a Buddhist Stupa on the land which made the stay even more magical. We will return! It was great for the party of 16!!

I loved camping on John’s land. It was a perfect spot for us for the wedding we were attending at Roaring Camp Railroads, which was less than a mile. Fall creek trail and the town was within walking distance from the site. John was so kind and helpful. Would recommend to anyone that wants a great spot to stay in Felton.

Great stay in Felton!

Quiet and accommodating for a quick stay. The host (John) was very helpful and always available. Bathroom and water station is located at the property up the road and is very clean. Trash cans nearby sites. If the sites are all full, it could feel less private. No issues with noise. Plenty of shade throughout. We stopped by the nearby vineyard property and enjoyed the tasting. It was just what we needed passing through on our way north. Overall great stay and would recommend!

Great place to stay for Redwoods

This was the second time we stayed at this campsite - it’s a lovely location. We stayed in site 1 this time which was a little more open space. Just note that the entrance and exit there is a sizeable bump but our 23 foot trailer cleared it without any issues.

I recently had the pleasure of spending a few days at HIPCAMP, and it was an absolutely positive experience! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by John, the owner. There is a working winery on site with a tasting room open to the public - I recommend trying the 2021 Malbec and 2023 Can Franc, my personal favorites.

John has a really nice set up, he was super helpful and friendly. Campsites were very quiet and clean. John kept a fire going at the winery one evening so we could have dinner around it and make smores! We’ll definitely be back when we’re back in the area.

Great little site to crash after a long day of playing in the woods. Excellent cider, super clean flushing bathroom (score), very quiet, and nice host. My dog played with the owner’s dog one morning 🧡. Would definitely recommend.

We spent 2 peaceful nights at John’s place. The setting is lovely and John is a kind and welcoming host. We woke up to 3-4 deer grazing in the meadow one morning. Enjoyed nice strolls in the evenings over to the winery. We’ve already made reservations for another stay.

Wonderful weekend getaway!

My partner and I had a wonderful weekend here. The hosts were extremely kind and offered greatsuggestions on what to check out in the area. Our camp spot was spacious and well shaded, and getting to be within walking distance of the tasting room and restaurants in the town was amazing. This was a perfect spot to getaway for a relaxing weekend.
