Another great stay at John’s place! Great location, close to shops and restaurants but also peaceful and serene. Everything is as described and I appreciate John’s friendly demeanor and flexibility. Will stay there again for sure!

Oak-Studded Bliss near Santa Cruz

An awesome spot to pitch your tent! John was great about sharing all the important details, so there were no surprises…location was ideal for my trip, and to wake up in a beautiful, oak-studded meadow with birds singing all around? Perfection…don’t forget to visit the Felton Baba temple to meditate, stretch, or just BREATHE. Excellent hosts and a beautiful spot, highly recommended!

Site 3 - Felton Open Space Camp Sites

What a great time! I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the daily offerings at the shrine. The Hosts were incredible, and the site itself was super close to town, which made it easy to explore Felton, Scott's Valley, and the SC Mountains. And... If you are a fan of cider, they have a friendly tasting room and lovely patio. We definitely plan to revisit.

I had high hopes for this stay. A couple of days before our arrival, we received a message that we needed to check in at least half an hour before sunset. I responded that we would probably arrive at or after sunset and he replied that it was ok, to just text him when we arrived. The afternoon of our arrival we had to change our plans and I messaged him that we would arrive around 8:30pm after dinner and received no reply. I messaged him when we were leaving the restaurant and received no reply. I messaged him when we arrived and received no reply and we were left to find our campsite (which was not big deal). But the next day I messaged him asking him about the water spigot he said we could use (we were staying a second night) and received no reply either.

This place was right in Felton so very convenient. There were no amenities like a table, shower or restroom close by. It's basically a spot in pasture to park. Lots of rules. John was a very pleasant host.

Site 6 - Felton Open Space Camp Sites

This property is very close to Felton and just 15-20 minutes from Santa Cruz but it is quiet and peaceful. We even heard spotted owls at night. John is a great host and the campground is dog friendly. The campsites are right on top of one another so don't expect a lot of privacy. The bathroom is quite a walk but we were happy to have a flush toilet and sink so the walk didn't bother us.

Nice camping close to Mt Hermon.

This hipcamp spot is a great location in Felton close to Mt. Hermon, but you feel like you're in the wilderness under the oaks. John was very communicative and accommodating and I would love to be able to stay again in the future.

John was super helpful and knowledgeable about the area with hike recommendations and shortcuts into Santa Cruz! The location was great and close to food/coffee, music venues and gift shops. The bathroom distance didn’t bother us at all. At many campgrounds there’s a bit of a walk to a bathroom so we had no issue with that. It’s close to a winery and we look forward to tasting in the future!

Site 3 - Felton Open Space Camp Sites

I had a great experience camping here. The property is well maintained, in a good location, quiet, and John is an attentive host and comes around to make sure everything is going okay and people are enjoying their stay. A couple things to be aware of to make sure you make the right choice. One, the individual numbered sites are pretty close to each other, as you can gather by clicking through all the pictures. Unless it's a really slow day midweek or something, you will most likely have other campers nearby. And two, John is really good with dogs and has a very welcoming policy for them. Me and my two dogs appreciated this. But if you are afraid of dogs, even friendly, well behaved ones, then this might not be the ideal property for you. Happy camping!

Great shaded camp site. Safe location. Bathroom at the winery was available for the people staying at the campsite which was nice. Picturesque scenery and conveniently located for visiting Santa Cruz or day tripping to Monterrey or even Big Sur.

Pretty cool spot with a really nice vibe. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back! The tasting deck looks really nice, but we didn't get a chance to use it (plus, it's not dog friendly, which is a bit of a bummer). The bugs were bad (we were there in mid August, so to be expected I suppose). Remember to pack your bug spray campers:) Also, as others have said, it's a long walk from the campsites to the toilet. We have our own toilet in the camper, but for tent campers this might be a bummer. FYI: cell service (we have AT&T) was very good here.

The camp space was wonderful, lots of shade. Hot water and flushable toilet are always a plus. John was a great host, and the location was perfect: seemingly in the middle of nowhere but with a coffee shop 8 minutes away by foot.

Directions were very nice. Description states portable toilet. It is actually a very nice flushable toilet that is about 200 yards from campsites.
