I absolutely adore this Little hide away!
It is so spacious that we can bring lots of friends and have plenty of room to hang out. The grill is well maintained and all around just such a beautiful fun place to camp! The cows being in the field this year was my FAVORITE part. I will of course be back again and again!

A convenient and secluded spot in the middle of farmland. The site was clean and ready to go, and the port-o-let was clean and stocked. Early August, so there were mosquitoes at dusk, but as the sun disappeared, so did they. Was treated to a pretty clear night, and a pretty good view for stargazing, especially to the west, where there were no lights.

Great spot right off the highway, feels private even though there are other sites close, & there are basic amenities at each site (firepit, chairs, portapotty)
The view of the pumpkin & corn patch was cute 😍
Yes, reviews are right - lots of mosquitoes -but we didn't notice them as much at night.

We spent the weekend at the Secret Grotto campsite. It was great! Affordable and close to the beach and the town of Ferndale. We enjoyed the fire pit and bbq included at the site . Our kids allowed climbing in the trees that shaded the camp spot. There was lots of room to walk our dogs and the view was pleasant and peaceful.
There is some road noise but that mostly disappears at night.

It was the perfect camp spot for us! Plenty of room nestled in the trees. Clean porta potty.
There were mosquitos but not terrible. There was a loud siren that woke us up at night that turned out to be the volunteer firefighters - not a problem and we just went back to sleep.
Definitely recommend!

Secret Grotto Camp
I enjoyed tent camping at Secret Grotto! It was private and secluded tucked in amongst the trees. During these summer months, bug spray is important! I had an easy time navigating to the campsite and Katherine was responsive and timely in answering questions.

Actually very nice! You wake up looking at the fields with cows and hills in the background.
Better to at least have a car because you need to have quite a bit of water with you to wash stuff with. There is a portable toilet onsite you can use otherwise. Ferndale is 5 min away and there are big stores like Safeway or Grocery Outlet 12min away.
The other campsites are not in sight or within hearing distance (can’t say the same about state parks), so that’s nice too.
Would be back on my way north for sure

Our hosts were very kind and welcoming; they were nice enough to bring us some firewood. The farm was a beautiful place to stay, and the stars at night were incredible! Spiders love the campsite, but they're pretty small and harmless.

Awesome place! Super convenient, quiet, and lovely. Easy to find and the perfect, simple campsite for tent or car camping. The farm grounds were ideal for walking around with my dog, enjoying the views of the far off mountains and nearby sunflower and pumpkin fields. I would definitely stay here again.

The camp hosts were very friendly, came out to greet us and talk, which I appreciated. There was a picnic table and fire pit which were convenient

This was the perfect little campsite for our Ferndale weekend getaway. We were looking for somewhere to just pitch a tent to sleep so we could go off exploring the rest of the trip. It's literally just 5 minutes (if even) from the town and super easy to get to. I loved seeing the view of the sunflower field in the distance! At night the small fire pit was super cozy. Don't get alarmed if you hear coyotes howling in the distance at 3am! Anyway, I would definitely recommend and would camp here again in the future :)

Easy to find, close enough to town for essentials and close enough to 101 for adventures. Clean port a potty. Didn’t smell like farm. Loved the quiet and enjoyed being tucked away in the trees.

Felt very private, even with the other site reserved. We never heard or saw the other campers, except when using the clean porta potty. Cute sunflower field across from the campsite. We had a pop up trailer and tent. Close to Ferndale and Fortuna. We enjoyed hiking the redwoods and fishing Eel River. Only downside was there were a ton of flies.

This is a very nice stop along the 101. I drove my van right under the willow thicket for shade. The dogs enjoyed roaming the roads surroundi g the fields. Super peaceful.

We had a nice time and enjoyed our cozy nook in the trees. Also LOVED exploring the town of Ferndale, just a few minutes drive away. We had a clean porta-potty, tidy campsite, and friendly hosts. Since it is right on the creek, definitely layer up and/or bring bug spray. Thanks for having us!
