Stoney Meadows is truly a small slice of heaven tucked away in Big Bend. I spent 3 nights at Site 7.
The site:
- At the far end of the campground area, so very private, just 1 neighboring site but they are a good distance away
- Private creek access right at the site
- Perfect trees to set up a hammock
- Firepit and picnic table available
- 30 second walk to a very clean, flushable toilet
- 4 free-roaming dogs, all very sweet and friendly. The two Pyrenees, Polo and Lobo even took turns keeping me company until I put out my fire and went to bed lol!
Amenities:
- In the general campground area, there is the cabins, shower, additional toilet, and kitchen.
- There is potable water, a fridge, propane grills, dishes, and other cooking essentials available in the kitchen
- Firewood bundles available for $10, cash only.
- Starlink wifi is available at the house, very fast!
The host, Scott, is also just a gem. He’s such a kind, older man who clearly pours his heart into his ranch. You can feel and see how much he loves it. He also has some great stories and recommendations around the area. He’s warm, funny, and genuinely a joy to talk to. He also checked in on me a few times, which I appreciated as a female solo camper. Even so, I felt completely safe both at my site and throughout the entire property!
This was hands down the best hipcamp I’ve stayed at. I am already planning another trip back very soon. I highly recommend Stoney Meadows, don’t hesitate, you wont regret it!!
