Started in 2014 by Tim and Michelle Borland and their three kids, the Bar SZ Ranch is a true family business with a mission to help others “forge their legacy.” Set on 2200-acres in its own valley with iconic California oak trees and golden hills; views of the surrounding mountains and Pinnacles National Park; and painted, sunlit skies guests can't get enough of, this working ranch offers unique, getaway camping and glamping experiences for both new and seasoned campers. The Bar SZ Campground is near Pinnacles National Park but relatively remote from other services, which is part of what makes the area so special. It is a place to unplug, share stories and spend time with your family and friends, and explore the wilderness of California. From the ranch: Pinnacles National Park East entrance 6.6 miles Nearest Groceries and restaurants: Hollister 36 miles north King City 28.5 miles south Tres Pinos 29.2 miles north The nearest amenities (stores, restaurants, gas) are about 30 miles away so please plan ahead and bring the things you will need during your stay. Our tent camping sites sit in our Bar SZ Ranch campground. The campground is located in the Bar SZ Ranch meadow on 2200 acres of beautiful rolling hills, creeks, pastures, and wildlife. Each site accommodates up to 6 campers. Amenities include: communal camp kitchen, free wi-fi, toilets (porta potties), trash and recycle bins. The Bar SZ Ranch is a genuine, working family ranch just a few miles from the east entrance of Pinnacles National Park. We have plenty of room for hiking and exploring and for every guest to experience and learn about all things "ranch life."  Please respect our 10pm curfew in the common area and campground. There is a large communal wood-burning fire pit in the camp kitchen area (please bring your own firewood), as well as a communal camp kitchen for all to use and share. This includes several Weber charcoal grills, folding tables and chairs, a propane burner, toaster oven, coffee maker, drinking water, and microwave. The Weber grills and folding tables and chairs may be borrowed from the camp kitchen to your site during your stay. You may also bring your own portable fire pit (propane or wood burning), but *no open fires are permitted on the ground*.

The Bar SZ Ranch is a genuine, working family ranch just a few miles from the east entrance of Pinnacles National Park. We offer experiences like horseback riding and animal feeding experiences to overnight guests in our houses and glamping tents. We have plenty of room for hiking and exploring and for guests to experience all things "ranch life." If you’d like to schedule ranch activities with us, these are available at an additional cost and a link will be provided for booking. (No activities available on Sundays or Mondays, except for holiday weekends.)

The best experience- Bar none
Private RV Getaway
Stayed in the Montana RV and couldn’t have been happier. The location is perfect for a day at Pinnacles and the property itself is beautiful and made for two wonderful, laid back mornings on the deck and exploring the ranch. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful location with easy to find campsites! Great signage from the entrance all the way to the back of the property where we stayed. We got to see the goats, sheep, and horses on our drive in, so that was a plus too! The communal kitchen and firepit made such a big difference in our experience. We were able to microwave and toast our dinners when we arrived. The stars were beautiful and so clear, and it was great to take a walk in the morning by the river. If i’m ever in the area again, I know where I’m stopping! Thanks Bar SZ <3

All-in-all our experience was good. The manager was really nice and helpful, the shared kitchen was great, and my 8-year-old loved seeing all the animals on the property. My only complaint was trying to fall asleep to the sound of gunfire very close by. This went on for at least half an hour, and was not something I'd want to experience again.

It was too hot during in 90s. The river has no water and it is full of native plants, not quite near camsite as shown in picture.. it was such a boring trip for family with kids. Not many trees to provide shades to spend hot afternoon.

The scene and setting at Bar SZ Ranch was great and picturesque. The added amenities of the camp kitchenette with cooking equipment, filtered drinking water, port-a-potties, tables, wifi, and communal campfire pit were great to have. The creek (river when there's rainfall) that ran nearby was a refreshing escape from the day's heat - tadpole hunting and all. We also partook in the Animal Feeding Experience for the children and that was a special highlight for the entire family. Michelle was incredibly patient and gracious throughout. The farm dog, Faith, was also a delight whenever she graced us with her gentle presence. The East entrance to Pinnacles was about a 10min drive, which was convenient. Other campers we met were friendly and mostly adhered to the Ranch's "leave everything better" principle, which is always appreciated in shared nature spaces.

Wonderful experience! Everyone is so helpful, kind and welcoming! There are so many animals on the farm, each wanting your attention. The communal kitchen space even has lighting! Just a short drive to Pinnacles National Park too. I’m not sure our family will be able to venture to a traditional campground again. Highly recommend Bar SZ Ranch!

We loved the campsite, the communal kitchen, the BBQ area and the facilities. The onsite host was very responsive and friendly, they even sell eggs and meat on the ranch. Only con was that the campsites are in the wide open fields with little to no shade. During summers the camps will get extremely hot and dusty as there are no grass/trees to hold the dirt.

Wonderful Hipcamp site. Gorgeous views all around the campground, lots of wildlife sightings and the river area was fun to explore. Really nice amenities including running water and electricity! A pretty quiet and calm environment that allowed for plenty of relaxation before and after visiting Pinnacles. Strongly recommend!

It’s a beautiful and spacious tent on a gorgeous ranch. The beds are firm/supportive and very comfortable. It was lovely walking around the ranch and visiting the animals. Everyone we came across was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The kitchen is fully stocked and such a great amenity to have. The tent sites are pretty close together, similar to camping at most camp sites. One thing to note is that the main communal fire pit is quite close to this tent so the smoke will waft right in - may not be ideal for folks with lung/sinus sensitivities. If you camp in your own tent you could be much further away from the fire if that’s an issue. Overall, highly recommend staying here! Perfect being so close to Pinnacles

I've never had such welcoming and fun filled Hipcamp hosts. Of my 10+ Hipcamp stays, I can say this one was the best. I was so cool to have a full farm just around the corner to go and check out and experience. Horses, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits (wild and domestic), cats and others. Colby, Mitchell, Tim, and Lilly were so welcoming and pleasant. We bought wood for a fire but were hooked up with a fire pit to be close to our site. Kitchen was setup well and created a great communal place. Some folks horseback rode and did archery, great activities to have on-site. 10/10 would recommend.

Beautiful remote location but super close to Pinnacles National Park. Sites are fine, ground is a bit lumpy so need to clear sticks/rocks. Would be nice to have it prepared ground that is flat and clear of debrie which would have made it better; but it's very similar to many state parks, so this isn't really a negative, but just something that would make the ranch an amazing location. The shared fire pit, kitchen and bathrooms were great.

We had a great time staying here! It was easy to navigate to and super convenient for getting to the east side of Pinnacles National Park. Was so fun seeing and hearing all the animals at the ranch, and we also did a trail ride while we were there that was super fun and informative

The area was very beautiful! Lovely ranch and the campsite kitchen was so nice. Everything was pretty clean, even the bathroom areas. The owners are so sweet and we loved our stay. Animals were so cute too!! We miss the ranch cat, George haha. Definitely suggest :)

We had an excellent time at Bar SZ Ranch. The campground was clean, and the camp kitchen made dinner and campfires really easy. It was really cool to prepare a dinner with ingredients that were sourced from the ranch itself. The activities were a great addition— we really enjoyed the baby animal feeding.

SZ Ranch was absolutely beautiful! The setting was peaceful and scenic, and we loved every minute of it. My kids had the best time meeting and feeding the farm animals and were especially excited about the goats and horses! We also really loved walking and playing in the river. We highly recommend this for families looking for a unique and memorable outdoor experience and would love to come back again soon!

If I could give them 10 stars I would! What a great experience! This is the type of place you can either stay to yourself in your spot or head up to the farm and do an animal feeding or horseback riding (to name a few experiences). You can then learn as little or as much as you want! It’s really a beautiful, one of a kind place. Thanks Tim and Michelle ♥️

Bar SZ ranch was great! The proximity to Pinnacles National Park was the main draw, but having a creek and a communal kitchen was icing on the top. My kids enjoyed with with the dogs, cars, cows and horses!

Absolutely beautiful and peaceful spot. Lots of cute animals. Wifi. Hosts were helpful when needed and otherwise not around which was nice. Porta potty smelled good? Thats right you heard me. Kitchen had cheerful string lights, running water, and electricity. It is about a 20 min drive to the park but a beautiful drive.
