Banner Ranch Julian

We've been camping here for years but unfortunately don't think we'll be returning. Last year they doublebooked our spot but thankfully we were able to move to an open spot different than what we booked. Now this year, they did something similar with one spot being marked with different numbers which effectively split the spot in half. There were two different sitemaps with conflicting information so they just told the other campers to take half of our spot which gave neither of us any privacy, it also meant we had no access to the fire pit and picnic table promised.

I would highly recommend for beginner campers like me. This was our first camping trip and we loved it. The bathrooms worked and all the sites have enough privacy and space. We will be back for sure and we will be picking the same spot.

I ended up in T7. There was a booking issue. Owner offered me a choice. Great site. I just needed a place to pitch my tent for the night while traveling on my motorcycle. It was perfect for that

A Lovely Haven

What a nice spot! We found and booked this site super last minute (like 30 minutes before we arrived) after another campground we had a reservation at didn't work out. We received a message saying a walk-in had taken this site but that T6 was open for us - and how lucky we were! I think T6 was the best site - the most private, the biggest, shady, next to the tiny creek. The general store was handy when we realized we forgot hot sauce, and it was so cool to see turkeys strutting around. This place is only about an hour from our house and I can definitely see us making a quick trip to just sit back in our chairs, string up a hammock and enjoy some time watching the clouds go by.

T5 - Tent Site 5

Gorgeous campground, kinda disappointed that they advertised the sites come with a picnic table- mine did not. The #1 rule is no fires and my neighbor had a huge fire the whole weekend, nobody seemed concerned.

This is a nice campground by the creek. There are a huge oak trees on the property. It has a shower. And the manager was very nice. I would return.

This was my first time using Hipcamp and I was a bit hesitant to camp on private land, but this place was great. Huge campsite, very private and quiet. The staff there were very professional and polite, and they had everything we needed at the general store, including tons of games. I will definitely be coming back here to camp again!

We love camping at Banner ranch. The sites are very nice with good amenities and they have great showers. We had plenty of space, they are very accommodating and pet friendly. We have camped there before and we will again.

Actually, it was first camping from Hipcamp and it was just AWESOME! The site was spacious and private. Check in and out is super easy and no rushing. And we enjoyed encountering animals like turkey and friendly donkeys. It would be greater if the restroom maintenance is better. And we were heard NO FIRE at all but the other campers made the fire every night. Policy is confusing. But still I definitely recommend this place to my friends!

T4 - Tent site 4

Hot shower and restroom were great. It was good we were able to move from T4 to T5 and the management allowed it because we had really noisy neighbors left and right. We had bad luck with the people around us because everyone else except for them were quiet and kept to themselves! We had no cell reception (T-mobile) which made it hard for us to communicate with management but good thing another camper offered for us to use his phone. His provider was at&t and had full bars. Some places have more shade and privacy than the rest. Choose T4 is you want a communal space and/or want to socialize. If not, choose a different space. Camp spaces that are more private is better than the rest. We had trouble finding T4 because it wasn’t on the map.

Site T7

We loved our stay at Banner Ranch! Site T7 is beautiful, spacious, and shady. Only downsides were close to road noise and quite a hike to the restroom in the middle of the night, but we loved the wildlife and little creek running through the property. The spigot at our site wasn’t working, but we just used one at a different site for dishes.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, a few things I wish I had known prior to staying would be that the sites aren’t very clearly labeled and that each site doesn’t have its own water spigot or trash can. We stayed in T2 which was spacious and had lots of shade. Relatively clean bathrooms and showers (with hot water!) but I wish there were a few more lights leading up the pathway to get there (midnight bathroom trips were pretty spooky, even with a flashlight) Overall I think we will stay there again, just plan a bit differently

The campground as a whole is lovely. T8 was def one of the smaller sites with a lot of foxtails everywhere. I would return but would try for a meadow spot next time. Very clean facilities, good location. Note: ~10 degrees warmer than Julian proper in May.

This campsite was so quaint and peaceful! The manager there was very welcoming and accomodating whenever we needed anything. They also had a store to buy some last minute items. It was also only a quick drive away from Julian which was such a lovely little town!

Need to repair water faucet and shower (we only had cold water). Did not empty the garbage for multiple days. For $39/ night, we should expect min services like hot water and empty garbage bins

No real check in procedures. Double booked our site this weekend. Luckily the other group were totally awesome and we made the best of it. Site was very nice and big. Easy trek into Julian. Would book here again just need to verify site is booked properly.

Quiet and Peaceful Camping

Cute little campground centrally located between Anza Borrego Springs and Julian. We stayed at campsite M-4 and there was sweet babbling brook next to our campground that lulled us all to sleep after a fun day off roaring in the desert. My toddler loved chasing wild turkeys and petting their burros. My teenagers loved the basement thrift shop in the general store and billiards tables. Maybe we’ll stay in the covered wagons next time.
