Nestled in the heart of Alaska’s wilderness, Wrangell Mountain Homestead offers a tranquil escape where towering mountains, lush woodlands, and sprawling farmlands meet. Our cozy cabins and rooms provide all the comforts you need: hot running water, electricity, Wi-Fi, and comfortable beds, while maintaining a rustic, off-grid charm. Whether you’re here to explore the historic Kennicott Mines, fish the legendary Copper River, or simply relax by the fire pit under the starlit sky, we offer an Alaskan experience unlike any other. Our beloved Homestead was carved from the wilderness in the 1970s. Built by calloused hands using timber milled right here, four generations shaped a life from this land. They weren’t just building houses; they were building a legacy. A legacy shaped by time, standing strong even as the years carried them elsewhere. The signs of age are there: roofs dipping, walls groaning softly, but the craftsmanship and spirit of those who built this place live on in every beam, nail, and corner of this land. In 2021, we didn’t just buy a property; we inherited a promise. A promise to honor their work and breathe life back into these weathered walls. We’re not erasing the past, we’re restoring it, revealing the raw beauty beneath. This isn’t a polished, curated experience. It’s real. It’s the untamed heart of Alaska. And if you’re willing to embrace its imperfections, you’ll feel the same magic we do.

Room #1

Vacation rental · Sleeps 2
Unplug and recharge in this private one-bedroom, one-bathroom room inside a shared rustic inn on a 320-acre working Alaskan homestead. With forest views, a cozy bed, private bath, running water, electricity, Wi-Fi, and shared kitchen, dining, and living spaces, it's the perfect balance of comfort and nature. Two friendly dogs live on-site. Located en route to Wrangell–St. Elias National Park, the historic Kennecott Mine, the Chitina River for world-class salmon fishing, and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline Viewpoint at Mile 88.2. The inn sits on a hand-built homestead dating back to the 1970s. It’s still active today, with livestock, farming, and occasional equipment use. Expect a peaceful rural atmosphere with a few honest reminders of homestead life. Chickens roam the grounds (but stay in until after 9 AM), and the remote setting means limited nearby services - so plan accordingly. This is more than just a place to stay, it’s a gateway to the wild beauty of Alaska and a piece of its living history.

Trapper Cabin

Cabin · Sleeps 4
Trapper Cabin is a hand-built, two-story log cabin on our 320-acre Alaskan homestead. Built in the 1970s by four generations using timber milled right here on the land, the property sat empty for more than a decade before our family began restoring it. Some areas look worn, rustic, or unfinished because this is a working homestead, not a polished resort. When you stay here, you are part of its ongoing story. The cabin has two queen bedrooms, a full bathroom upstairs and a half bath downstairs. You will have running water, electricity, internet, and a small kitchenette. Dog friendly and TV free, it is a place to enjoy fresh air, quiet nights, and either brilliant stars in winter or the midnight sun in summer. Simple, rustic comfort without pretense. Guests have full access to Trapper Cabin. Other cabins or areas on the homestead may be under repair or look unfinished as part of restoration. You are welcome to explore the grounds, but please respect private spaces and locked rooms. Self-check-in makes arrival easy, and we are nearby if you need anything. Guests who value independence, quiet, and respect for the space help keep the homestead calm and welcoming. The homestead sits in a truly remote part of Alaska, surrounded by forests, fields, and wide open skies. You are a short drive from Wrangell St. Elias National Park, where hiking, fishing, and glacier adventures await. Scenic drives along the Richardson Highway pass historic sites, rivers, and mountains. The nearest towns are a drive away: 30 minutes to Chitina, an hour to Glennallen, 1 hour 45 minutes to Valdez, and 2.5 hours to Kennicott. A small diner and grocery store are nearby, and beyond that is pure wilderness. Some areas of the homestead are active working spaces, so you may hear occasional sounds of farm or land work. We provide basic cooking essentials, though you may wish to bring your own tools or ingredients for larger meals. If you are seeking an authentic Alaskan stay, remote, unplugged, and full of history, you will leave with more than memories; you will leave with stories.
