This spacious and well-maintained campground is located seven miles from the Everglades National Park entrance. The park is open seasonally from November to May, and sites are available on a first-come first-serve basis only. With 108 drive-up spots and one large group campground (reservable by phone) there is usually always enough space to meet the demand of campers (but if you do find yourself out of luck, Flamingo Campground is 30 miles south through the park). Long Pine Key features clean restrooms, flat private camping spots, a picnic area with fire grates, and potable water. There are no showers. Bring your own firewood, and plenty of bug spray. Activities include a fishing pond, fabulous hiking trails, and educational ranger-led programs at the amphitheatre.

Nice campground. Sites spaced out enough so you didn’t feel right on top of one another. Didn’t use the showers since we only stayed one night but nice that they were available. Dump station and water fill available right outside the entrance to the campground. Would stay again.

2016 UPDATE: Showers are now being built at Long Pine Key Campground! Hallelujah! Although there are no hookups for RVs, there is a dump station with water as you exit. I love this campground for its privacy and solitude. The mosquitoes are always a problem, less so in the winter months of course, and also gators if you venture near the pond. We also had a Cottonmouth snake visit our campsite last time we stayed. Just be careful, watchful, and prepared. Enjoy the silence and have fun!
