David has some beautiful land!! Wow. Felt like we hit the jackpot in terms of privacy, a beautiful, spacious campground with plenty to explore! I’d definitely come back here. It was great.

tucked way back in the redwoods, there property is beautiful, quiet with a small creek running through it. high clearance vehicle is best as the road runs across a few creeks. David met me in town and led me to the spot — it would be hard to find otherwise, at least the first time.

The place is beautiful and completely isolated. We enjoyed our time there.
Now, there is quite a bit of junk ( old tractor, wood piles , etc) around the area. Also, no fire option. All of this would be fine if the price was lower, but not at the current price.

We had such a bad encounter with this property owner that we didn’t even end up staying there. He made my wife feel very unsafe.
His listing only said that check in is AFTER 2pm so we figured we’d get there later that evening after a day of river rafting. He messaged me that morning asking when we’d be in and I told him 6-7. He responded and asked if we could come any earlier and said he has to meet at a store nearby to guide you in and I said no, my group and I were floating down the river. So we get to the store at 7, he says be there in 15. I ran into the store to use the bathroom and when I come out this guy gives me an attitude about how he had to wait around all day for me. He then got out of the truck and got passive aggressive saying he doesn’t give a f*** if we stay at his property or not. My wife told me that when I was in the store he approached her and questioned/harassed her about what we’ve been doing and made her feel very uncomfortable. Needless to say we decided not to follow this creep.
We’re filing a complaint about this guy and getting our money back. HipCamp please flag this account, I don’t think anyone would feel safe staying under his watch.

The site was pretty with a creek running through it. The downsides are that there is no bathrooms. Also no campfires permitted. And also it is about 35 minutes from downtown Guerneville.

I would highly recommend AWD, but the drive is totally possible without one - our group had a great time off-roading.
The best part about this site was how secluded it is, but close enough of a drive to town if you want to spend time there. There are a lot of mosquitos so make sure to bring bug repellant.
The site is impossible to find with GPS so you will need to meet with David to initially get there. It is a little challenging to coordinate, but overall David was very accommodating.
We will definitely rebook this site.

We made it in a Honda Odyssey mini van, but would really recommend an all wheel drive SUV or truck. It was an adventure, with 3 wet creek crossings. David is an awesome guy, quick with a smile, who will help lead you in and out if you think you may need assistance. Bring mosquito repellent and a propane fire pit, in case regular camp fires are prohibited. I would recommend staying at main camp for the best set up and room. We had a good time with our 2 wiener dogs.

It was nice to be secluded and not close to other campers. This place has a lot of potential. There is a lot of broken down equipment and vehicles on the property which detract from the beauty of the forest. We were told by the host, we could have campfires, but a disgruntled neighbor stopped at our site and yelled at us for a good 5 minutes after taking a picture of us with our fire. It was an interesting trip for sure.

Overall, we had a good trip and the location is amazing. IMPORTANT- make sure you don’t follow the directions on Hipcamp. They are wrong and took us to a completely different location. Make sure you wait for David to guide you. Also, reminder there are no bathrooms.

Highly recommend! We loved our secluded campsite with close access to a stream. There is plenty of space between camp sites, so there's lots of privacy. The drive in is unpaved and 4x4 would have been great, but I managed to make it in my Prius. Our host was friendly and accommodating.

Campsite was not quite what we hoped for. We did have a wonderful time away from crowds but disappointed to pay as much as we did for what you get.
First, I reached out to the host twice to ask if we could bring extra vehicles and didn't hear back, so I booked an extra site just in case. When we arrived, he told us he could refund the additional site or charge by the head and we all camped in one site per his request. Never received a refund or heard back.
Second, the land was not taken care of. It's a beautiful forest and creek but old, rusting vehicles all over the roadway and campsites. Our campsite actually had a rusting trailer in it with a tarp over it which was pretty creepy. Random 5' deep holes in the ground and the picnic bench fell over when we sat on it. Hoping that it can be cleaned up since it has so much potential to be a special place.
Overall, it was a really nice time and the host is a nice, helpful guy in person! Just wish we had received a partial refund or at least heard back so we could have made the right choice in booking. Also, if you're booking in the next few weeks, be prepared for lots of ticks and mosquitos.

If you’re looking for a remote place to camp and get away, then yes this is the place to do so. If you’re looking for a picturesque campsite, I don’t think I could recommend it. We’re unsure if the campsite we had booked was the one we were given, nor did most of the photos in the listing accurately depict the site. There’s an abundance of trash, broken down machinery, and just stuff in and around the site. David, the host, did greet us at the Safeway up the road and did navigate us to the site. Overall, we didn’t find the price to be worth the site but we still had a lovely time deep in the woods.

David was nice when meeting in town to lead us in. Fun off roading to get to site. Had my old t1n van and clearance wasn’t an issue. Would recommend this spot if it was cleaned up a bit. Otherwise nice quiet location.

Great that David came and met us because it was definitely off the beaten path. Very nice and helpful guy! Would definitely suggest 4WD but doable in a 2WD if necessary (cross some creeks and big bumps to get to site).
It’s a beautiful spot but like another review mentioned, there are some abandoned cars and random items scattered around the property. Almost felt like a post-apocalyptic museum in a cool way. Anyway, wonderful to be surrounded by redwoods, and so close to Guernville. Would recommend, but $100 felt a bit steep for what it was!

We loved our stay on David’s land! It was so serene. The perfect getaway from SF! You’ll definitely need a heavier-duty vehicle to get back there, but once you are … it’s wonderful. 10/10 would recommend!

HIDDEN GEM!!
This is gonna be a long review but stay with me it’s worth it! This place was so beautiful! Me and my boyfriend came here for a peaceful night in the redwood forest and that’s exactly what we got. We were right next to the creek and our campsite was huge! We were greeted by David’s friendly little bully dogs, and then he showed us the beautiful spring of fresh water to drink from/bathe in (my favorite part). There’s also a beautiful hiking trail. Now, before we got to the site we ran into an issue. We somehow missed an important part in the description saying that you should have a car with high clearance and/or all wheel drive, because of the rough terrain. Since the storms hit recently there were a few small creeks you have to drive through to get to your site. It was no problem for the hosts Tacoma, but my boyfriend drives a tiny Mazda so it was a bit rougher for us to get through. David was more helpful than we could even ask for, he led the way and guided us through. By the last creek, we didn’t feel confident enough to drive over it. I said we would walk through the creek with our bags and other stuff we had packed. Instead, David told us to load up his truck with all of our camping stuff (we’re heavy packers) and said he’d drive us up the rest of the way to our site which was so awesome. He made sure we had everything we needed and even helped us unload. The nicest host I’ve ever had! I would 100% recommend this spot to anyone :)

Great local spot for some fun forest adventuring. We went right after the storms and David the host was uncertain wether we would be able to access the land due to the many creek crossings. He went out first to scout the scene and then came back to let us know that it would not be a problem with our trucks.
Great place for the kids to run around. Very quiet and peaceful. We will definitely be heading out there again.

We stayed at Main Camp and loved that the space was 15min from Guernville but felt remote and private. The fire pit and wooden benches were a nice touch.

Nestled in tall redwoods and a short walk to drinking water from a natural spring , my group of four had ample room to tent and hammock in David's main camp. We enjoyed the sturdy benches around a large fire ring, extra tables and chairs David provided, and the overall otherworldly seclusion at camp. A perfect getaway.
The drive is doable in a prius but if there is recent rain I would suggest at least AWD. The site is 15min from the main road.

I shared a magical evening under the stars and redwoods with a friend and dog. We had such a lovely and relaxing time. Really appreciated the work put into the space - we were able to cook up an incredible feast! (fire roasted calzones)

We had a great time at David's camp (main site). The land is beautiful and you wake up with a stunning view surrounded by redwoods. David was very friendly and kind, he met us in Guerneville and led us up the dirt road about 15min. The camp was well setup with a firepit, benches to sit on, firewood, a hatchet, bug spray, and tarps for the tents to lay on. It's obviously much better to arrive during daylight hours to get situated. For experienced campers it's a piece of cake, and it is well setup for unexperienced campers too. Great option if the more popular campsites in Russian River are booked.

Camping here was a fun experience. Bring your own everything and enjoy the woods. We founds an underground bee hive and spent a few hours feeding them meats and berries.
