Old Herrera Ranch - Medina River

We're a five acre piece of an historic Texas ranch in Southwest San Antonio, just 20-minutes from downtown, sitting along the Medina River. Come for the day or stay the night for some primitive camping. We've got plenty of room for tents, roof-top-tent setups or car/van dry-camping. We’re currently in the building/restoring process, but we’ll have some electrical, drinking water, fire pits, plenty of shade, compost toilets, water in the river, and plenty of good vibes. Old Herrera Ranch has been in our family since the early 1800's and holds a lot history. A couple of our old buildings, the "jacals", are dated from around the 1830-40's. You'll also see the old "Dance Hall" which is great for hanging out or even some cover if it rains. They say that Santa Anna's army, invading from Mexico, may have crossed through our area on their way to the Alamo. This may be because our part of the river includes some of the more shallow areas of the Medina River. We are an RV and Boat Storage facility that has open spaces available for overnight or weekly dry camping. It is NOT a beautiful camp spot with amazing views or amenities but it is a very affordable overnight parking spot with gate accessible fenced-in secure place to stay with an onsite live-in manager/security. Why take up valuable space at a truck stop where space is at a premium for those truckers as well as deal with the noise of the trucks coming and going all night? The same thing goes for lot docking at a Walmart or the like where there is no security, where people race their cars and motorcycles through the parking lots, or being kicked out by the Police and sleeping with one eye open all night. If in the San Antonio area, come get a safe peaceful night sleep while traveling through. What you get; You get a gate code to gain access, you get a specific area to park, you get a level place to park on a road base surface so no mud, you get a secure place to park, we are not promising anything fancy, just a safe place to park. We are 20 minutes away from Lackland AFB, 23 minutes from The Alamo and 20 minutes from the San Antonio River Walk.
