Our campground offers a private single rental with an acre of land along Harmon Creek, boasting beautiful waterfalls and breathtaking views of Mother Nature. Greetings from Hilleetla! This beautiful property with big rolling hills, big trees, spring water, creeks and lakes lies deep within the Big Thicket, behind the Pine Curtain. Originally a dairy farm, with the old barn and milk bottles intact, then a miniature pony farm with a miniature stable to match, and later a vacation home for some quasi-urbanites. 

Now our home, our muse, and our place of refuge.

A place to share with friends and family and those seeking an authentic experience, here, on the ground. A working farm, a plant nursery, a garden, our forest farm, and our center for creativity, love, life and design. As a landscape architect (Alissa), designer and horticulturalist (David), we've found our match here, at what we now call Hilleetla.

Great Blue Heron, egrets and other large birds are frequent visitors to the pond.   Resident critters include turtles and bullfrogs.  

Willow Acres

Camp in Sam Houston National Forest   Quiet, rural setting about an hours drive from Houston.  Places to visit within a half hour drive include Lake Livingston, Lake Conroe and The Woodlands.  Wildlife frequently seen include deer, raccoon and great blue heron.  Wolves and an occasional cougar have also visited. A small pond hosts a quantity of red slider turtles and an assortment of frogs

The Gardens.   Area just across from campsite.  Tables, chairs and park bench are perfect for relaxing.  Fire pit is there for roasting hot dogs or marshmallows or just to sit and watch.  

Light the tiki torches and relax in The Gardens. 

Anoles are plentiful and cute critters.  

Getaway Camp and Cabin

Tired of the city ordinances that restricted raising fouls, I decided to look for an acreage that is not too far nor too close to the city and which allowed the raising of farm animals. We have a couple of ducks, 5 geese, 2 pigs, and 11 cows. But they will not bother you :-)

We built a log cabin in the 17-acre property in preparation for downsizing when the boys go to to college. But when our neighbors had to move back to England, they sold us their house and 11-acre land.

With the cabin on the 17-acre now vacant, we decided to open it for camping (on the land) or renting out the log cabin after building the 2-acre pond.

Stay in the log cabin, or pitch a tent. Enjoy stargazing, or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the property.  Pick wild grapes  or wild blackberries when in season or spring wildflowers. Kayak or canoe in the pond.  

Cabin use is free, but these are STRICT RULES.1. No pets please, not even emotional support animals of any kind

2. No smoking inside the cabin

3. Do not use the bathroom towels for kitchen purposes or to wipe off dirt

4. Please no outdoor footwear indoors, but you are welcome to wear clean indoor footwear. Violation will result in forfeiture of the entire deposit

5.  Cars MUST be parked on the rocked section, thus walking is necessary from this point.  This is a 2-3 minute walk. The driveway might be dry but, no vehicles will be allowed past the rocked section.

6. Never leave food - solid or liquid - where ants can find them or you will cause them to infest the house including your bed! They can do so faster than you can imagine.

7. Please do not bring more people than officially booked, or we will cancel the reservation and force you to leave. No refund. We also close/lock the gate once you have checked in. We understand rules can be off-putting, but we had to disclose due to massive damage, thefts, and other violations by a few - Dawn S., Marc A., T. Frazier. IF THESE RULES ARE UNACCEPTABLE, PLEASE DO NOT BOOK.

B&R Lakeside Cabins & RVs

Lake Livingston is a large 23+ mile lake. We bought the property in 2014 and did upgrades on weekends, love the views, fishing, campfires, and meeting people so we opened the first cabin in April of 2018, now have 5 cabins and 9 rv sites and welcome you to enjoy the lake as much as we do. Every season of the year is a little different and all are wonderful!  We are in nature, and across street from wetlands, yet only 2 miles from city grocery store and restaurants! There are 3 piers, fishing, picnicking, beautiful sunsets, nature watching, small watercraft rentals, guide paid pontoon tours, swimming, bonfires, bbq’s with firewood available on site for purchase if desired.  Use for short term rental retreats, or long term.

The Honey Hole

One day, my husband and I were laying in the grass of my grandmother's backyard waiting for her and our kids to get home.  My husband asked "When was the last time you laid in the grass like this?"  We thought back to when we were little.  Both our parents had land.  That brought back such fond memories for us.  We decided lets get some land.  Being the resourceful person I am, I went straight to the green sheets at our favorite Chinese Restaurant.  We've been clearing & improving ever since.  Our kids absolutely loved growing up there on the weekends.  The place is named after my grandmother.  Her name was "Honey".
