The property has been in the Monge family since the late 1940's bought by Jose Monge Marquez. The campsite is located in a private property in the outskirts of El Yunque Rainforest in the town of Luquillo. The campsite areas and facilities are about 6 out of 43 acres of all the private property of rainforest, flowers, palm trees, and various fruit trees.
The Sabana River, one of many that originate from El Yunque National Rainforest, the river goes through the property. All the campsites are close by the river with each having their own access and individual fire pits.
The local attractions are:
-El Yunque National Rainforest 15 minute drive up the mountain.
-Las Paylas rockslides (2 minute drive & 8 minutes walking).
-The Luquillo beaches which are La Pared, Playa Azul, Barneario de Luquillo. Los Kioskos de Luquillo, ect. (10 minutes drive).

Greetings!Suenos del Mar is a small tropical farmstead. We plant trees and tend bees. In 2017 hurricane Maria raged through the island and damaged much of the property. We are still recovering but the trees are coming back and we continue to replant. We welcome you to pick some fruit in season. There are many exotic fruit trees, such as pomegranates, guava, mango, guama, nespero, lime, starfruit, and more, Over the years many volunteers have helped to create a welcoming environment. There is a hand-built stone bathroom, a grape arbor and large table where the socializing goes on. Sometimes we offer yoga and meditation and ceremonies. Recently a fire dancer performed for a full moon gathering held there. I stayed on Maureen’s land with my two older siblings and we had a great time! The land is beautiful and Maureen provided everything you needed. Yoga in the morning was amazing. It were fun to be around wild animals but fyi there was neighboring off leash Rottweilers. Overall, Maureen and her land is a great way to explore the island of Vieques!

Maureen was such a phenomenal, accommodating, and welcoming HipCamp host! She emailed me a few days before our trip to ask for my itinerary and planned to meet us at the ferry to pick us up at 6:30am since it was drizzly outside. We went back to her house for a full home-cooked breakfast and she helped us find a bike rental place that we had reserved from and showed us her more remotely-located HipCamp property - Suenos Del Mar. At Suenos Del Mar, there was a very large tent set up with 4 inflatable mattresses inside as well as space to relax, shower, and enjoy the views of the ocean from the property. Because the rain appeared to be developing into a full-on storm, she set up a tent in her home's garage as a back-up accommodation and provided comfortable inflatable mattresses, pillow, linens, and towels. She taught a yoga class in the morning and invited us to come along and also to explore the island a bit more with her. The next morning we told her we were headed out at 5:30am and didn't need any breakfast but she still got up early to make us coffee and toast to-go. Maureen was always nearby ready to offer help or hospitality in anyway. She made us feel extremely welcome just as if we were family visiting from out of town. We would definitely love to stay here again hopefully on the beautiful Suenos Del Mar property if the weather is better!
