Boggan's Oasis is in the SE corner of Washington state, right on the breathtaking Grande Ronde River. Visitors can arrive by driving to the bottom of Rattlesnake Grade (WA-129), or the bottom of Buford Grade (OR-3). These two curvacious roads are extremely popular rides for motorcyclists and bicyclists nationally. Visitors may also arrive by water (rafts, driftboats, jetboats, kayaks, etc) coming downriver from Oregon, or upriver from the Snake River (WA/ID). Many other unpaved roads will lead guests to our canyon, which creates great opportunities for off-road vehicle adventures! The Grande Ronde River, which drains much of northeast Oregon's Union and Wallowa counties, is fed by snowpack in the Elkhorn Mountains. The Wallowa River, a major tributary to the Grande Ronde, headwaters in the Wallowa Mountains, mostly within the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Twenty-two miles from Boggan's Oasis, the Grande Ronde River flows into the mighty Snake River. The river is surrounded by steep, rugged canyon walls that rise 3000 to 4000 feet above the river level. Dense conifer forests blend into grassy slopes set off by scattered conifer "stringers." Called "The Land of Winding Waters" by Native Americans, the river is home to rainbow trout, dolly varden, whitefish, squawfish, suckers, bass, and steelhead. Rocky Mountain elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, bighorn sheep, bear, bald eagles, and a variety of smaller animals and birds can be seen daily. And yes, there are rattlesnakes! Fishing, hunting, hiking, all kinds of boating/floating, offroad vehicle riding, and animal/bird watching are beyond expectations in this area. Seasonally, guests can also successfully gather a variety of mushrooms and berries while on one of the many nearby hiking trails. Many of these short walks also lead to incredible, far-reaching views of the Blue Mountains, Wenaha wildlife sanctuary, Hells Canyon, and the tri-state area. The camping sites are back in only, so if you have trouble backing in, I am happy to help. Each spot has a fire pit with first firewood supplied, (additional be purchased) and a picnic table. Surrounding area is sagebrush, 2 miles from Wallowa National Forest with miles and miles of wilderness trails, lakes and Mountain fishing, ATVs, hiking, biking. You can ride your ATVs right from the camp. There is huckleberry and mushroom picking in early summer and late spring. Local wildlife consists of deer, elk, eagles and owls, pheasants, quail, wild turkeys, all kinds of birds, (even an occasional farm chicken may wander by) and coyotes and frogs calling at night. My friendly labs like to come say hi. Campsites are for tents or RVs. Our electric is shared among the campsites. Our water is from a wonderful deep cold well that’s piped to a shared outlet in the middle of the RV camp. Bring a hose to hook up, we have one if you need one. Guest Wi-Fi if you’re close to the store. Cell service is limited. I do allow generators if you are not sharing the park with anyone else. If you’re the only ones, no quiet time, if others are camping, quiet time is from 10:00 pm - 7:00 am. Site 1: largest fire pit, close to the power hook up, the most shady spot but still sunny, closest to the park. Site 2: A bit of shade, most of the day in sun. Closest to water hook up. Site 3: A Sunny site, a little late afternoon shade. A little more privacy as it’s the last spot. Farthest stretch for water and power, but I provide an extension power cord to it. Our little store has items you may need if you run out or forget something. We also sell regular gas.

I loved the place, lots of history & antiques (I’m a sucker for that!). Also was pleasantly surprised that it is, geographically, the center of the US!

This site is great for boon-docking on solar power, while enjoying great views of the Wallowa Mountains and surrounding farm/ranch land in relative privacy. Graveled Tucker Down Road runs on the west side of the sites, separated by a small creek, deciduous trees, and wild shrubs & flowers. The road gets a fair amount of ranch and farm traffic, but the trees do knock down most of the dust. While the site is flat, be ready for ann uneven surface with lots of tall grass, clover, & thistles. We were happy to be able to light our Howl propane fire pit for an evening under the stars. The site location is convenient with a short 5 minute drive to Joseph and just a 15 minute drive to Wallowa Lake & the Tramway. I can understand comments about the $75 per night being steep since there are no hookups but for us it was worth it.

The host responded in a timely manner. The property was easy to get too. The property was beautiful. Enjoyed learning about the history if the town. I was able to enjoy a delicious snack from the local store on the property. I felt safe and slept well. I would definitely revisit and recommend this location!!!

I enjoyed my one night at this historic location; I wish I could have spent more time with Lori and her lovely Dad, hearing about the the Geographic Center of the U.S.! Take the time to read all the news articles they have posted on the walls in their wonderful store - and get some great Farm Fresh Eggs too!

Weekend Trip to Pondosa, Oregon. Old mill town.

We showed up with our small sports Mobile pop-up, my daughter’s SUV, and a tent. Lori and Jim were incredible hosts. We arrived pretty late, but they had us set up with kindling and plenty of firewood, we had a small fire and went to bed. There were coyotes howling in the distance, we woke up to over a dozen deer meandering around, ducks in a pond. Sort of like being in a Bambi movie. Their little store is super cute and they were warm and inviting. I was super stoked on the rural vibe and the abundance of wildlife, you will never get that at an RV park! There was electricity and potable water readily available at our site, for one. The fire pit was awesome and there is a girl on top so we could cook hotdog on it. They are super nice people and if I had to do it over again, I would spend two nights there. It’s a nice halfway point between Jackson hole and Hood River, you gotta get off the freeway a little bit, but don’t we all want to get off the freeway a little bit? There are not any showers in the restroom. Facilities consist of a porta potty like you find on a construction site, but it was really clean and stocked with toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Our house said it sometimes gets windy up there so that is something to be aware of if you are in a tent. However, we were taking a couple of new campers with us, and the wildlife alone was worth coming back again, pretty incredible to see, deer, ducks and horses for city folk. Great experience!

The view was amazing. Even though the residence was nearby, it was down the hill from where we were and so our spot felt private. Was such a great location for exploring Enterprise, Joseph, and Wallowa Lake. We had a wonderful time!

Our host was incredibly responsive and accommodating—quick to answer any questions and made sure we had everything we needed. The site was peaceful and remote, giving us that off-the-grid feeling, yet still conveniently close to nearby activities. Super quiet at night, perfect for stargazing and relaxing. Would definitely stay again!

1 night at Almosta Farm

Janet's place was wonderful! In a quiet scenic place, in a fairly private spot on her property. Loved the animals! Jack Daniels the pig is very friendly and loves treats! the goats curious and friendly as well as the cats. The breads we ordered were delivered hot from the oven and tasted delicious. We also got to pick fresh raspberries from her garden for breakfast. Would definitely stay again if we are ever back in the area.

Cute and quaint. A little quirky with some nice surprises. Note this is 25 minutes from Baker City. Having the little store onsite was useful. The owners are warm, and the local history was interesting. Having nice grass on which to pitch the tent was appreciated.

We loved this remote camp spot for our little RV. It was so peaceful and pretty: the pond with lots of tall cattails and flowers, the ducks walking through camp to get to the water, the many birds flying overhead, the deer, the colorful sunsets, and the star-filled night sky. We had the entire place to ourselves the first night. It was so quiet. The second night a family of 6 came in. The sites are right next to each other so less private and peaceful but still very pleasant. I would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful secluded camp in a cool location in the Oregon desert. Only stayed one night, but had the whole camp to ourselves. Quiet peaceful. No cell reception. It was wonderful!
