Overlook Lean-To, Treehouse, primitive campsites, and so much more! This is glamping at its finest. Our property was originally used as a seasonal hunting/fishing camp in the 1920's. Sheila and Bob bought it in the early 80s and have turned it into an amazing compound built for their family. They blinked their eyes and their children are gone, so this beautiful 50 acre diverse property and its private trail system are meant to be shared.

Nestled in a mature, private pine forest, this well cared for property boasts abundant wildlife and a network of walking, skiing and mountain biking trails which take you past wetlands, cliffs and a variety of forest types. They have all kinds of lodging options from a beautiful vacation cabin they rent, to an Adk lean-to, to a Treehouse, and primitive campsites. You'll find a little bit for everyone at Adirondack Adventure Base.

Hidden Meadow Camping

Our property was purchased and farmed by my ancestors in 1803. They cleared the meadow area of trees and rocks and established the stone wall, enclosing the area. A hemlock and pine forest at the edge of the meadow leads to our 50-acre wetland preserve which provides habitat for many bird and wildlife species. Native people also camped,hunted and trapped here in the early 1800s.Learn more about this land:Relax in a secluded meadow, wander through old Hemlock forest trails and watch many varieties of birds and other wildlife on 60 acres of wetland preserve. A very private spot with space for gatherings, tipis, tents, vans -- all are welcome.Absolutely beautiful night skies due to a lack of light pollution.Only 5 minutes away from the village, where you can pick up groceries and whatever else you need.Kids 12 and under can stay for free. 

Sterling Pond

The camp was first built in 1905 by Dr. Goldsmith and family. The doctor and his family used the camp for summer vacations. During the winter the camp was rented out as winter hotel for loggers. Ice was harvested from the pond and stored in what is now one of the cabins. 
When our family bought the place, the hotel was falling down and the buildings were in disrepair. Geoffrey, the family caretaker, has spent the last few years cleaning up the site. All that remains now of the hotel is the chimney while the ice house and caretaker's cabin have been improved and are now ready for visitors. 
With 840 ft of pond frontage and 4.4 acres you can pitch a tent on the banks of the pond, up in the woods, or stay in one of the two cabins on site -- all are included in the cost of booking! Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Year round fishing has long been a tradition. 
The spring fed pond is home to large and small mouth bass, northern pike, crappy, and blue gills. There are a number of ponds and state lands nearby. Accommodations include two outhouses and two docks so no waiting. There is a canoe and rowboat available and life jackets. The camp is car accessible three seasons and snowshoe accessible in the winter.  There are summer cottages across the pond but not much happening on our side. Cedar Lodge, the nearest bar/restaurant, is about 5 minutes away and very popular all year round. The closest gas station and convenience store is about 20 minutes in the village of Parishville.

This cabin is available for use; it has a wood cookstove and is quite cozy. It's about 600 feet from the road into the woods. 

Bittersweet-Milkweed Farm Cabin

The Bittersweet-Milkweed Collaborative is a 113 acre small-scale adventure in community-oriented regenerative agriculture. We strive for biodiversity and regeneration and healing of the land, increasing soil fertility, pollinator habitat and water health. We welcome volunteers, campers and students, always looking to build community and renew connections. The farm includes permaculture gardens, livestock, fields, forests and protected wetlands, along with trails through the woods for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in the winter. 

Set up camp in the midst of 113 acres of forest, fields and wetlands, exploring the multitude of micro-ecosystems. We offer an off-grid, two-story log cabin - no need to worry about the rain or snow! Enjoy the diversity of life as you relax in the permaculture gardens of our small-scale, certified organic agricultural operation. Feel free to volunteer your time on the farm, or purchase fresh fruits, veggies and meats!
