We are located in the Santa Fe National Forest, on 6 acres right on the Pecos river and El Macho creek.  You can fish right off the property and explore local hikes. The elevation is 7200 feet in a gorgeous setting surrounded by mountains. We have a pavilion and a huge outdoor kitchen for you to enjoy.

A glamper's delight! Welcome to our romantic, primitive, off-grid A-Frame, where breathtaking views and stargazing await. On a quirky homestead with stunning views in every direction, fall asleep under the vast night sky while coyotes yip and howl. 

Ojo Caliente, Taos, Rio Grande Gorge, Carson National Forest and world-class hiking only minutes away. Enjoy the tranquility and seclusion without sacrificing the proximity to the conveniences of Taos.

Brilliant sunrises and fiery sunsets are the backdrop, but the stargazing is what takes center stage. With strategically placed windows, guests can lay in bed and connect with the cosmos, witnessing the milky way and shooting stars most nights.

Please note, no plumbing or electricity. Solar shower and simple composting toilet provided.

What is The Ojo?

Simply, 116 acres of riparian and desert landscape situated along the Ojo Caliente River in the heart of northern New Mexico!

What kind of groups come here?

We attract a variety of folks, including families, who want a land based experience. Your group always has the place to itself.

We are all about Place and the roll it plays in helping humans become grounded. People who have visited here have come for vision quests, sweat lodges, Walkabouts, yoga, personal work of various kinds and simple reflection, and more. The Ojo is set amidst an amazing northern New Mexico landscape of water and sculptured desert, mountains and mesas. We seek groups who are not looking for a retreat center, but rather, are looking for a unique place where they can reconnect with the environment. On The Ojo, our goal is to facilitate your stay so that the group can focus on their own special needs.   

We can accommodate up to twenty adults. Kids under thirteen count as 1/2 an adult for calculating your group size. For example: ten adults and six kids would be a total of thirteen adults. 

The land is wildlife friendly, but there has never been a negative encounter with any wild animal. We are home to a diverse number of bird and animal species. 

PLEASE...No pets!

And, there is a wild river running through it! 

We are geared for tent camping and do not provide hook ups for RVs. The camping area extends along the river and can accommodate up to 20 tents. Included in the nightly group rate of $300 is The Ojo Cabin, a cozy retreat cabin that sleeps two adults in a queen bed, and has electricity, running water and its own RV style toilet and a full shower. 

Our 26 foot Hogan, built with love, is there for your group to use as needed. This amazing place has an adobe floor and walls and a spectacular ceiling.

Cooking is done in our dining/cooking pavilion, a short walk from the campground and the cabin. There is free high speed  wi-fi available in the pavilion. Two showers, one seasonal outdoors, have unlimited hot water, and the full kitchen and two refrigerators make cooking easy.  Two foot bridges make access to the pavilion from the camping area easy, and low key lighting makes travel safe after dark. We do not allow cooking elsewhere on the land. 

The pavilion is the place to gather, hang out, cook on the gas grill, throw some horseshoes, or just relax.

The Ojo encompasses classic New Mexico cottonwood/willow Bosque and our land extends to the top of nearby Black Mesa, 1000 feet above the valley floor. The spectacular Shadow Mountain Trail is about 1.5 miles long and the hike rewards you with amazing views of the surrounding countryside.

The Ojo abuts incredible desert badlands in the adjacent BLM land to the west. Various trails make moving through the Bosque and desert easy. Often there are beavers in our little river too!

We have a ceremonial tipi, permission needed for use, and a wonderful classic seven ring labyrinth. We are located only 45 minutes from Santa Fe, an hour to Taos, 30 minutes to Abiquiu, and in the heart of a landscape that has everything for the active, from mountain biking to white water rafting. 

Oh yeah...we are also only ten minutes from Ojo Caliente Hot Spring and Spa.

Little Valley Camp

*Prefer to text because of limited cell service*Semi-remote lush valley surrounded by national forest 8000 ft in the ponderosas.We came here in 1989 with intentions to live off the grid and among nature. Raised our kids here in a school bus and cabin. I put up the teepee in the summers and move the kitchen outside. We hold the land with high respect, plant trees, and enjoy the peace of the forest. Some people have stayed here for a night, others for many months. *Hosting through Hip Camp for the first time in the summer of 2021.* Looking forward to welcoming new visitors and working together to create a great experience for everyone.

This unique cultural experience in a spectacular setting is a once-in-a-lifetime vacation off the high road to Taos.  Grass pasture/orchard farm with private river - in Cundiyo, NM - 24 miles North of Santa Fe, NM on highway 84/285 and highway 503.  Cundiyo is a unique, secluded Northern New Mexico farming community. 18-acre farm -classic western freestone stream runs through the property, and we own both sides of river for approx. 1/2 mile.  A series of grass pastures/meadows are flood irrigated from the river via traditional Acequias.  There are sturdy footbridges over the creek.  Fruit trees and grass, glades of oak trees and stands of cottonwood.  The banks of the creek are shaded by Alder and Willow trees.  There is a simple treehouse and a zipline near one young orchard.  By the river is a simple, old A-frame, log cabin that has a porch for shade/cot sleeping.  Composting toilets (2) on property.  Farm enjoys quiet and privacy, occupying its own stretch of the river valley from ridge to ridge.  The river runs year-round and has excellent trout fishing.  There are horses on the property, and frequent sightings of turkeys, riperian birds, coyotes, snakes, deer and bears.  Incredible mountain and river views.  Nearby hiking, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking.  All roads to and through property are rough, 4WD roads.  Property is boundary fenced.  Canyon walls are very steep and impressive, having bouldering and rock climbing features. The canyon is so private you cannot see another light at night.  No highway noise.  Spectacular in all seasons.  Exceptional culturally - day trips to Santa Fe, Taos, Chimayo, Abiquiu, and Ojo Caliente.  Perfect for families or large groups.  Unforgettable experience.  One month minimum stay due to local ordinance.

Two Hawk Ranch

Two Hawk Ranch is comprised of 12 acres of high mountain valley meadows, hay fields, Acequias, trees and the Rio Chiquito. Yes, we are located at approximately 7,800ft elevation. My husband and I stumbled across this beautiful and serene property by accident in 2020 just as Covid hit. We feel blessed to be here and feel the need to share it’s calming, restful qualities. We have three adult children and have three grandchildren. We also have eight international children as we hosted international students for four years. You are welcome to come sit by the fire and be social or just do your own thing.

Sites located across the property for up to 8 groups. The RV camping is located near one of our horse corrals and above our irrigation Acequia, above or next to the house, or in the field down by the arena after haying is complete (usually after the first week of July as long as the rain cooperates). Can back in or pull through and has 110v power nearby. No water to hook up to, but we can fill your tanks via hose by the house or arena. Other sites available if you don’t need power, or have a generator. 

Property is within a 100yds of national forest service that gives access to off-roading, hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, and winter snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc. We are located just off the High Road to Taos in Llano, 29 miles south of Taos and 55 miles north of Santa Fe. We are eight miles from Ski Sipapu and eight miles from Rio Santa Barbara Canyon. 

Your well-behaved pets are welcome. We also have one great dane (Raggy), a great dane mix (The Morrigan), one ranch cat (Sasha) and four horses (Gentry, Shadow, Mattie & Jr G). The dogs are a rescue of some kind. The Morrigan is black, 3.5 yrs old and comes out of a rescue in AZ. She went in with her litter as a 5 month old puppy, and she came here about a year later. She is reticent and suspicious, so ignore her and she will come up to you on her own; continue to ignore her. Ragnar (Raggy) is our most recent rescue and is from Las Cruces. He's 3 yrs old and a merle. He suffers from anxiety and fears children. We are working him through his fears, and he is doing really well.

The weather here tends to run cooler, as we are located in the mountains in a small valley at approximately 7,800 ft above sea level. In the spring through fall, temps will average from mid 40°F up to mid 60°F at night and mid 60°F up to mid 90°F during the day. Temps can get into the 100°F's in the summer, but that is rare. Generally if the sun is out, it is warm or hot even tho the actual temps are not. It's a high-altitude affect. The opposite is true as well. Cloud cover will feel cooler. We also experience monsoon style rains that occur in the afternoon generally starting in July and running into August or later.

In the late fall through early spring during winter, the average temps usually run from 0°F up to mid 20°F at night with occasional dips into negative temps and in the day generally run from mid 20°F up to the mid 40°F range. Same as above - if the sun is out, it will feel warmer, etc.

We do hay the fields, so we may have tractor activity going on in the late spring and early summer. In the winter we will be clearing snow from the roads and feeding hay.
