1855 Campground is 45 acres of private property, dedicated to the natural Ozark experience. We border the Mark Twain National Forest, enjoy the outdoors at its best. Our space offers 7 large campsites to provide privacy & serenity.
Site 1, Little Brushy Creek with parking.
Site 2, Nancy’s Landing, smaller site close to the creek with parking.
Site 3 Bills Hill, located high up in the woods.
Sites 4 & 5 Walnut Grove, large flat grassy sites in a meadow with wildflowers.
Site 6 Hidden Hollow, located in a private cove.
Site 7 Roberts Mountain located high up in the woods.
Sites 3-4-5-6-7 are remote wooded campsites. Accessible by foot only & upon request a free shuttle of your camping gear. MUST arrive before 8pm when booking these remote sites.
Bordering the National Forest, so hiking is abundant & encouraged. Far from the city is ideal for star gazing & amazing photo ops. There is a year round freshwater spring flowing nearby. Enjoy fishing, swimming in the pond or babbling brook that runs alongside the property.

I went looking for remote, and remote is what I got. This places was absolutely fantastic! I stayed down by the river and had an amazing time. The road down can be a bit rocky but easily doable in just about any vehicle. Lance was a great host and shared a lot of knowledge about the property and surrounding area. I'll definitely be back!!!

We loved tent camping out here on Lance's land, it was beautiful, the woods are lovely and secluded which is exactly what we were looking for. Lance is a wonderful host and very accommodating. We will definitely be back in the future for a longer stay, 5/5 stars!

I live in a rural area and this is VERY RURAL, and that’s just fine. The hosts are very nice and accommodating. We could have stayed up top but wanted a view of the river so we braved the rustic trail to the secluded river spot. We both had AWD and were glad we did because it was a bumpy ride. However, totally worth it. The site faced west over the river and we got to see deer run across the low river and heard owls and coyotes. It was 100% primitive camping down there but we had brought water and a portable toilet so we were prepared. If you have a vehicle that can make the trek down and you don’t mind primitive and secluded, then this is a spot for you.

This was our third consecutive year camping at Bill’s campground, and each time is as wonderful as before (if not more). Bill cares for the land so well and thoughtfully that it’s difficult not to be stunned everywhere you look. Key highlights (besides the joy of wilderness camping) include a variety of terrains, a cold and refreshing creek, a pond, generous wood bundles/refills, and great conversations with Bill. There are plenty of attractions nearby such as Elephant Rocks and Johnson’s Shut Ins, which I highly recommend checking out if you’re in the area. Thank you as always, Bill!

Susan’s property was the perfect secluded camping spot. It was easy to find, there were lots of friendly farm animals that came to say hello, and the camp sites were far from the house, tucked away by the tree line so you could enjoy the pasture and the woods at the same time. The composting toilet was close enough and clean, and we had easy access to potable water and firewood. We had a lovely stay and would definitely stay again. Thank you!

Would highly recommend staying here. Boyfriend and I drove through MO on a whim during our road trip back to NY from CO to see what the state was all about and to check out the good ol’ arch. We needed a place to stay for one night after a long day of driving that was somewhat close to St. Louis but affordable. This camp and the drive to it made a good lasting impression, and we definitely left MO with good memories. It was so much fun meeting all of the animals, especially the goofy little pigs and the sweet horses. The campsites are super quiet, peaceful, and tucked away and it was nice to have a fully supplied heated outdoor shower.

Hummingbird Hollow is such a peaceful and charming spot! Susan’s farm is beautiful, and the friendly animals made the experience even more special—we loved having the horses wander nearby. The meadow was stunning, and the walking paths were perfect for a relaxing stroll. I also really appreciated the convenient drinking water hose setup. A wonderful place to camp, and I’d gladly return!

Had the field to ourselves.
All of the animals were well behaved.
It was cool to wake up to the horses grazing mere feet from the tent.
Manure appears to be removed regularly, as we didn't encounter any.
Path to the creek was nice.
Would recommend.
