This land has been asking to be shared. First it was swings and little things for the grandchildren and their friends. Then the Cabin by the pond began to welcome visitors. Soon the steep slope anchored a Yurt with a wrap-around deck that puts you up in the trees. Our gathering spot by the creek became a camp site. Recently the grandkids' Bunk House found its way in. Our Retreat is 10 acres, narrow, but 1/4 mile deep, stretching down a steep wooded slope to a creek - and up the other side to the top of a bluff. It is only ten miles to Jefferson City but has a quiet and distant feel.

D'Ranch at Clearwater is a small, 40 acre hobby farm located on the north side of the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri. What started as a simple love of backyard chickens has now become a dream farm for Tracey Durant and her husband Theodore. Nestled in the valley between two forest covered hillsides, and running adjacent to Clearwater Creek on the east and the lake on the south, D'Ranch could not have been a more perfect location for the Durants to plant their roots and get their feet wet. While they continue their love of backyard chickens with their small egg and hatchery operation know as HeebyJeeby Chickens, they have expanded their interests to an array of friendly farm animals including horses, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, ducks, and an occasional turkey or two.

Weekend Trip to Retreat to the Country
Absolutely must see! The yurt is beautiful and cozy and everything has its own little place that makes you feel right at home. The land is beautiful and the trail down to the creek allowed for some great scenery and view of the wildlife. We will definitely come again outside of the winter months to enjoy the yurt magic.

I've tent camped at D'Ranch several times. Ted and Tracey are always the best! Chose a cabin this time. Perfect for my needs. Basic with no electric or running water. Port a john nearby. Great place to relax. Good place to see some wildlife.

The perfect get away from urban life. Our 25th wedding anniversary brought us to this Hipcamp yurt. Bill had all our needs taken care of. The woods was in fall transition. The view is amazing as is the mystical yurt.

What went well... Everything! The cabin was just what we needed. The property is lovely and I loved using the kayak on the cove.
I saw Herons, ducks and other water birds and a few amphibians.
They had a great bonfire on Saturday night and my wife and I really enjoyed talking with Tracey and Ted.
All in all a great trip at a great site.

This yurt was absolutely spectacular - my jaw actually dropped as soon as I opened the door. This was our checkpoint on our way home to Ohio from Colorado, 16hrs in the car from CO to MO, and this little place was exactly what we needed. We were elated to find AC, full working kitchen and shower, the most comfortable bed of our entire trip, and gorgeously whimsical deco fitted with tea candles and fairy lights for the perfect ambience. Their kitchen was fitted with all of the utensils and equipment one would need, including a microwave, electric stovetop, and a pantry stocked with seasonings, among many other kitchen amenities. The food we picked up on our way into town had gotten cold by the time we got in, so we were so relieved that we could use the kitchen to heat it all back up! Even the outhouse was stellar, with running water for washing and compost toilet. All in all, the only thing I would have changed about our stay is that I wish we could have stayed longer! Excellent campsite guys, thank you so much

Bill's Yurt was a wonderful place to stay! It is in a beautiful location on the property and the overall location was easy for us to find on our bicycles. The yurt was well supplied and we thought the composting toilet was great! Bill did a great job communicating with us and we would highly recommend staying at the yurt!

The Ranch is so cool and beautiful. I loved that they could accommodate so many different styles of stays, primitive, semi primitive all the way to B&B. The kayaks were great and I saw couples enjoying the paddle boat.
The cabin was clean and comfortable.
Most of all Tracey and Ted were phenomenal host! Friendly, attentive and helpful, but respectful of the guests privacy.
This place is a gem.

This yurt was truly magical! The setting was so private and quaint.. the trails that were right on the property were so fun to explore. Check-in was seamless and all instructions were clearly provided. Bill was an amazing host, and even shipped back some items I had left behind asap. Everything was so clean and all of the cooking supplies provided allowed us to make some scrumptious meals throughout all the outdoor activity. We had such a wonderful time lying in the hammock attached to the deck, and never felt swarmed by bugs! It was two nights of pure bliss in a beautiful area, we cannot wait to come back!

The yurt itself was very inviting, and the wood stove was easy enough to enjoy. The weather itself was less than perfect, but that is how camping goes, even hip, yurt camping. Bill himself was wonderfully communicative, so that there were no troubles finding and using the yurt.

We absolutely loved staying at Bill’s yurt. It was super cozy and had everything we needed for the weekend. My son and I put together a puzzle one evening (provided by the host), my husband and I sat by a fire and played cards (cards and wood provided by the host), and then we took a walk down the trail to a nice little creek where we found a fire pit, chairs and a hammock! Each evening we were visited by the sweetest kitty. The host, Bill, was very nice and my husband enjoyed chatting with him every time he went to get more wood. We will definitely be planning another stay at this location!

My kids didn't want to leave! They loved seeing all the animals but took a special liking to the two dogs, Ellie and Harley. We got a tour of the property on the four-wheeler, took the canoe out, had a fire, and enjoyed the cool weather and sounds of the roosters in the morning. We'd definitely love to return sometime. Great location and awesome hosts!

Katy Trail
Have you ever wanted to bike 240 miles? You can in Missouri, thanks to the Katy Trail. This linear state park straddles a rail-to-trail conversion that crosses the middle of the Show-Me State, with tantalizing views of prairies, hills, and woodlands. A number of towns along the route offer refreshing stops, with restaurants and accommodations catering to cyclists. Campgrounds offer tent and RV sites, some with hookups. You may also find unique glamping rentals nearby.
Columbia
Columbia is the heart of Missouri geographically and home to the state’s flagship university. The population swells during the school year, adding energy to the already-vibrant downtown area, which boasts an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, breweries, and more. Private RV resorts are available, offering amenities such as full hookups and free wifi. Public campgrounds can be accessed at Finger Lakes State Park, just outside of town. This park is a recreational hub, with fishing, paddling, and ATV riding.
Arrow Rock State Historic Site
Arrow Rock State Historic Site and Park lies just over 20 minutes northwest of Boonville, providing history, recreation, and camping. Several remnants of a small town built in the 1800s along the Missouri River have been preserved, allowing visitors to step back in time. For outdoor recreation, toss a line in the fishing pond or hit the trails. The park campground offers tent and RV sites, some with electric and full hookups.
When to go
Missouri experiences all four seasons heartily, offering great variations in temperatures and precipitation. Summers can get above 90°F with added humidity, while spring and fall are generally mild with occasional rain. The woodlands around Boonville are especially scenic in October, as the leaves change. Winter generally isn’t the best time for camping, as temperatures drop below freezing with the possibility of snow and ice.
