Camp Strong Wood derives its name from the many natural growth oak trees found on the property as well as being in the Strong Hope community. Wildlife abounds with deer, rabbit, squirrel, fox, racoon, opossum, armadillo, chipmunk among other forest dwellers. The lake is in a natural flood bottom and is stocked with largemouth bass, perch, channel catfish and natural flathead catfish which came in through the creek which runs through the land. 1 night at Wendy Oaks RV Resort

We only overnighted at Wendy Oaks. It was a great, easily accessed campground for us. I add that as we travel with a small trailer and a U-turn was necessary. The trees and lake made me feel like I was in a camp ground, Unfortunately it rained all night and we skipped the hike around the lake. Our site was gravel but level.

Weekend Trip to Camp Strong Wood

Our stay was pretty much what we were looking for - secluded, quiet, and comfortable. The best part was the staff. They were beyond just friendly and professional, but were also very accommodating. They gave us a side-by-side tour of the property, let us borrow a phone charger, and even offered us fishing poles and bait to use in the two beautiful ponds. If you are looking for something secluded and quiet where you can just relax and enjoy nature, we strongly recommend.

Chris was terrific from the moment we arrived. The cabin was adequate for our needs and the outdoor kitchen on the porch was perfect. The land and the lake are beautiful. Fresh from the lake fish fried for dinner! A great getaway and we will be back.

Melanie I believe the owner was amazing to work with. We were coming in late and at dusk she was setting up a lattern at our electric hookup so we could easily see our site. As it happens, we arrived at dusk, and she led us straight to our site. She's so easy to work with and so very helpful. She kept us informed of incoming weather and offered us options for emergency purposes. Wendy's Oaks is the most beautiful site we stayed at to and from Dallas to Orlando Florida. I'll go back in a heartbeat and stay longer

I feel my words will prove inadequate to capture the essence of what Camp Strong Wood has to offer anyone who is fortunate enough to follow their sense of wonder into this beautiful land. If you are trying to have a human experience by going back to basics, without sacrificing civility and genuine hospitality - this is the place that needs to top your list. The staff (Chris and Zoey) are wonderful and caring people who made us Floridians feel welcome from the moment we arrived late at night when they came out to greet us with a smile! The atmosphere of community, communication with the land and its creatures and features, and tangible love of what the do was so refreshing - people who are so grateful and blessed to call their stewardship of this acreage their livelihood. Everything is sanitary and well-constructed with care. I loved my stay and will be back in the near future. This place is well worth your time and money, highly recommend.

We had a nice site with a view of the lake. Melanie was very organized at check-in. She brought us to our site, gave us WiFi information, and a list of places to dine. Shivers fish was very good! Lots of great food for a very reasonable price!

Weekend Trip to Wendy Oaks RV Resort

A beautiful, well maintained, well managed, with great amenities, and an easy to get to location. I especially loved the friendly manager and her incredible communication. She greeted us when we arrived, showed us to our came site and after giving us space and time to get our camp set up, she showed us the space and how to use the amenities. We were in a pop up camper and after seeing it was off a busy road I was worried that we might hear road noise but that wasn’t the case for us. It was convenient to stuff around town but tranquil like you were miles away. The other campers were also very friendly, and the neighborhood ducks were a sweet surprise! Would definitely stay again if I am ever back in the area.
