The tent set up is simple primitive camping, with a few different choices around the property. 

Louisiana Plantation River Bank

The historic French built antebellum plantation home and gardens was built circa 1793-1820. The home and gardens is located on the Ouachita River. I built a culinary herb farm and nursery on the plantation grounds, in which I was named after by my family. My farm is called Louisiana Herbs LLC. Their are plenty of great sites to pitch a tent and camp in the plantation gardens or on the river bank. Learn more about this land:Pitch your tent on your choice area next to the muddy Ouachita River on the grounds of an historic french antebellum home plantation in northeast Louisiana. You may fish, boat, swim, etc. Suggested early winter to late spring for camping - Louisiana can be a bit hot and humid in the warmer months. We can wine and dine you at the plantation dinner table with home cooked Louisiana cuisine (optional for an extra cost) & get you liquored up with mint juleps, homemade absinthe, mix drinks, etc. anywhere on the plantation grounds is acceptable to pitch a tent and make a campfire. we can provide wood, & possible minimal electricity to your camp area for now. there is access to water at the greenhouse area, as well as electricity. the greenhouse is a culinary herb farm and nursery, no smoking tobacco near the nursery and greenhouse area. 

There was a swimming hole at the recreation area as well as a boat launch. Many people fish and water ski on this river.

The green house was impressive. This part of Louisiana has a huge focus on agriculture.

This plantation house has been in Breston's family for a long time. The property surrounds this stunning old home.

We were able to hang up our rain jackets throughout our stay, which was nice as Louisiana summers can be intense with rain. My strongest suggestion for staying here is in the fall through spring.

There are lots of old relics around because the house was built in the early 1800s. A ton of older system from the huge lifespan are still in place.

A great old bell with a small shed in the front yard. There is something hidden behind every turn here.

Payne Lane Farms & Campground

Less than two (2) miles off Interstate 20, just behind "Salvation's Cross" in Rayville, LA...

Our home was built by Mr. J. L. and Mrs. Gladys Keys in the 1970's. Mrs. Gladys used to work for my Grandmother at the local ladies dress shop. She and her husband often brought us fresh vegetables they raised on their "little piece of heaven." They had no children and all these years later, their idea of heaven became ours to take care of now. We are so blessed here at Payne Lane Farms.

You can safely camp in your travel trailer minutes off of I-20 on our wooded, rural lot minutes from town, convenience stores, food, and even dump stations.

The front orchard provides a refuge of shade and privacy while also allowing you to see everything around you. Rayville, Louisiana has great history and heritage and some fun artifacts to explore if you have an adventurous spirit. Good people and family owned businesses if services are needed while enroute-traveling.

Pull thru the front by turning to right of the mail box and not using the driveway! Maybe a little off road, but this is the country and it won’t hurt to just drive thru the yard sometimes. 

Fresh eggs for sale $3.50 dozen and maybe some fresh vegetables at $3.00 per pound, but ask us as we don't push them. Canning pantry does have inventory for easy meals.

Bayou Darbonne RV lot

Nestled at the mouth of Bayou Darbonne our rv spot boast great views in a quiet setting. This lot is very private and the only RV spot on our .57 acre lot. Access to Joe Bobs boat ramp is about a 1/4 mile away, so you can bring your boat and tie up at the boat dock located on the property. Come enjoy great fishing and beautiful sunrises on this Louisiana bayou!   Minutes away from town and Interstate 20 you may see tons of wild life from deer, foxes, owls, and maybe even an alligator…….
