BFH has hammock trees and shaded acreage for tent camping, a no-frills bunkhouse, and two back-in camper sites for those who prefer a bit more luxury. A hidden gem in Topeka, KS. Roughly 44 acres and 41 buildings and cabins for your stay. We have a creek that runs through the property and you can bring your kayak or fishing poles. We also have roughly 3 miles of wooded trails for you to explore. There is a playground for the kids to play on, a basketball court, and a sand volleyball pit. This is very camp at the lake style. Bedding is not included for camp bunk beds. Cabins do not have restrooms built in, but we have shower houses on site for you to use. They do have electricity, heat, and air conditioning. We have grills on site for cooking as well as a bon fire pit to enjoy smore's. Dream Acres at Forest Park is 4 miles away from Lake Shawnee. The World-Famous Topeka Zoo is 5 miles from the park. Lots of historical sights and museums close by also.

We had a good time staying in the shack! We needed a place to stay overnight before riding the Flint Hills Trail, and this worked great. The shack was clean and the air conditioner kept us cool. We had a nice fire and the night went well. Thanks Amy!

The Sleep Shack was perfect! AC worked well. It was clean and stocked with camping chairs and cornhole boards and bags. Shower and port-a-potty were clean; numerous fire pits to choose between with cooking grates attached to most of them. Would highly recommend while biking the Flint Hills Trail or just for a relaxing night or two away.

Amy and Darius are caring hosts. They have built a comfortable camp spot with the perfect balance of amenities. Showers, port a potties, fire rings and access to potable water. The two RV hookups do not overwhelm the Flint Hills setting with plenty of space for tent campers. Throw in their local knowledge and it fills all your needs. Highly recommend!

This sleep shack was beautiful and so well kept! Hosts were super responsive and helpful, very easy to contact and kept the place very clean. We stopped by for just a night on a cross country road trip and it was the perfect place to stay. Cute little town and area to browse, 10/10 would absolutely recommend!

The sleep shack was a wonderful place to recover and rest while getting ready for a gravel race. There were many thoughtful amenities to go along with this place. Chairs, tables, fire pit, air conditioner, shower, etc were all provided. It’s a great value for the money. The scenery of the Flint Hills was amazing! Of course, I enjoyed getting to explore the trails and the surrounding gravel countryside.

Weekend Trip to Basecamp Flint Hills
I bikepacked to Basecamp Flint Hills this weekend for pack-palooza. I stayed one night in the sleepshack and the second night tent camping with a large group of bikers. I hade a long ride to Allen, KS so the sleepshsck was nice not having to set up a tent. The shack was like a cabin with bunkbeds, ac, and electric hookups. The next night I tent camped and had a wonderful night sleep. Didn't wake up til 8am. Amy and her husband put on a wonderful weekend for us, really needed that getaway from my job. I'm looking forward to going back next year.

A clean and quiet little place to rest for the night. The portable toilet was very clean and had been serviced just a few days before we arrived. The shack was cool, comforable, and felt safe! I slept well knowing there was a fire alarm just in case. Would recommend and hope to be back sometime in the future!

The sleep shack was amazing!! After a long day on the bike it was nice to be able to sleep on a bed instead of an air mattress in a tent. Was nice and roomy and the fan gave us plenty of air movement since it wasn’t hot outside yet. Would definitely stay here again!
