Located on the Flint Hills Trail State Park in Allen Kansas, Basecamp Flint Hills offers camping in the scenic Flint Hills of Kansas. BFH is 20 miles north of the world capital of gravel cycling, Emporia KS, and 20 miles east of historical Council Grove.
BFH has hammock trees and shaded acreage for tent camping, a no-frills bunkhouse, and two back-in camper sites for those who prefer a bit more luxury. This is a community style campground where picnic tables and campfires will be shared with your neighbors. We encourage you to expand your circle and enjoy the experience!
Seasonal facilities include an open air, cold water shower and port-a-potty available April through October.
We do not currently have adequate infrastructure to accommodate horses.

Weekend Trip to Basecamp Flint Hills
I bikepacked to Basecamp Flint Hills this weekend for pack-palooza. I stayed one night in the sleepshack and the second night tent camping with a large group of bikers. I hade a long ride to Allen, KS so the sleepshsck was nice not having to set up a tent. The shack was like a cabin with bunkbeds, ac, and electric hookups. The next night I tent camped and had a wonderful night sleep. Didn't wake up til 8am. Amy and her husband put on a wonderful weekend for us, really needed that getaway from my job. I'm looking forward to going back next year.

It was a great lil space! The cabin as very clean. Location is great. It was an easy walk to the meat locker to get drinks and the community center for lunch after a day of riding on the trail.

Lovely space along the Flint Hills trail. Best stargazing! Cabin was cozy and quiet. Shower and bathroom very clean. Absolutely loved my stay.

The BFH Sleep Shack was perfect for an overnight stay with A/C! Also a nice spot to view the Milky Way and a meteor shower under in dark skies.

We spent two nights in the sleep shack. We were the only ones in the campground. The sleep shack was great for staying during a heat wave. Clean, all good. Lovely place, amazing view of the stars at night.

A clean and quiet little place to rest for the night. The portable toilet was very clean and had been serviced just a few days before we arrived. The shack was cool, comforable, and felt safe! I slept well knowing there was a fire alarm just in case. Would recommend and hope to be back sometime in the future!

The sleep shack was amazing!! After a long day on the bike it was nice to be able to sleep on a bed instead of an air mattress in a tent. Was nice and roomy and the fan gave us plenty of air movement since it wasn’t hot outside yet. Would definitely stay here again!
