This is a newer campground to Rock County near Luverne, MN. This property is known as the "boy scouts" by the locals.
When we were kids we spent time on this property riding bike, horses, and exploring.
We have turned this 13 acre property into
22 site campground that we are excited to share with you.
Nestled in a bed of trees just 2 miles from I-90 and 1/4 mile South of the Luverne City Park. This campground has 12 sites with rural water and 20,30&50 amp electric at every site. Dump Station. 8 Full Hook Up Sites (Sewer, Water, Electric) Two small ponds and shade trees. Wifi. Shower House/Bathrooms.
Campers can enjoy the quiet place to relax and enjoy nature and wildlife, a perfect place for bird watching. We also have a paved bike trial that connects to the campground that leads to miles of trials around Luverne and out to the State park.

Downhome Country Farm is 10 acres of woods and prairie with a large garden, chickens, wild turkeys, guinea fowl, mules, horses, a dog, and bee hives in the pasture. We have two restored vintage campers that and multiple tent sites.The bathroom and solar shower are shared by all guests. There are 2 sites for self-contained RV's with 20A electric available and water at some sites. 2 tent sites are available until the hay season (August) then the pasture is wide open tent camping. Horse boarding with camping available too. Each site can request individual fire rings. We have an outdoor community area that has a large fire pit, covered shelter and a woodfired pizza oven that will be in use on some weekends and by request. A nature trail, fresh produce usually. A tetherball!! Plus national touring musicians are known to provide pop up private concerts some weekends and impromptu jam sessions by the campfire or on the front porch. On occasion, we have outdoor movies(when the sun goes down early) and morning yoga along with great activities in the surrounding community too. Or just hang out in the hammocks or swing from the 60 foot swing in the old cottonwood and soak in that downhome country feeling while it “snows” in July. Weekend Trip to The Specialty Crop
This is an absolutely wonderful place to rest your head! After two weeks in tents, my family of three opted for the log cabin. It was clean, cozy, and we all got an amazing night's rest. The shower and composting toilet were very clean, abd you even get to pass by a few chickens on the way. Katie, one of the owners, was a delight to talk to, and made us feel so welcome. On the way out we stopped by their farmers' stand for sourdough, bagels, and cookies. This is definitely someplace we'll come back to!!

Absolutely perfect. Nothing more and nothing less than what is advertised. It was a perfect spot to unwind for the night. Made squirrel friend in the back that I named Peter. Price was amazing and showers and bathroom close by - 1 min walk. Bring your own bedding though!!! Thanks for a great stay.

Carole’s land was absolutely beautiful. With the horses, chickens, and amazing scenery, this spot is tough to beat .The diner camper itself was extremely cozy. I could not recommend more highly!

First and foremost, I love that this place is pet friendly. We love traveling with our dogs so a pet friendly stay was a must.
This campground and cabin is very close to downtown Luverne and therefore Blue Mounds State Park which is super awesome. It's even within a 40 minute drive to Sioux Falls, SD, if you wanted to venture over there. So much to do in the area and the vibe at the campground was very private and calm.
The Blue Cabin we stayed in was clean and as described - no bathroom, no kitchen - which was fine with us. We used our propane stove and the firepit which worked well for our needs. The cabin also had a nice table and chairs inside with a picnic table outside. The shower house was clean and there was plenty of hot water for showers. Not a far walk from the cabin to get to them but if you have a small bladder (like me) make sure you plan accordingly.
The other guests at the campground were very kind and courteous. Plenty of space to walk your dogs or venture on your own. There is a walking/biking trail on the backside of the campground and the property has its own pond with a super cute dock.
The only thing we wish the cabin had was an additional set of outlets and maybe a lamp but hey, this is a primitive cabin! Something that has electrical and gets you out of the elements.
We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend. We plan to return in the future.

Weekend Trip to Downhome Country Farm
This was such a fun experience! When we pulled up, about 20 chickens circled our vehicle and were clucking happily, best welcoming committee ever! Camper was clean and had hot water. Bathrooms are communal so just make sure you don't mind walking outside at night to use it. Hosts were more than welcoming and its obvious they care about the property and their animals. They were knowledgable about the area and gave great reccomendations on food. 100% would stay there again.

Stayed at the Blue Cabin in Luverne, Minnesota with my wife, our three-year-old daughter, and our dog. The place was incredibly calm and quiet — perfect for a family getaway. We spent the evening by the fire roasting marshmallows and watching the sunset over the beautiful pond. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a peaceful, memorable spot.

We are on a long journey driving from Durham, NC to Kyle South Dakota. After a very long day of driving with a two year old we were welcomed by Carole and Steve to their beautiful farm. They share the beautiful place house with my granddaughter stocked with baby dolls and all. Totally made her day! Carole surprised me with a slice of homemade carrot cake and a cup of hot coffee to celebrate my birthday. The diner was very clean, cosy and comfortable. We had a good night sleep.. we loved Carole and Steve.. great hospitality!

The Specialty Crop was a wonderful place to stay! The cabin is so cozy and homey, the location is so peaceful, and such a great view of the stars at night! Chris and Katie were out of town when we visited, but Katie's parents filled in and were outstanding hosts! I also highly recommend Katie's sourdough bread, so delicious!

Group trip
This was our second stay at Specialty Crop but this time we carved out two nights to enjoy. The four of us arrived super late our first night and immediately fell into our comfy beds waiting for us. Our 17 and 20 year old girls LOVE sharing the bed in the tiny loft 😉.
Sunday morning we were greeted by the adorable roosters, chickens and kitty cats while we sipped coffee on the front porch. It was a busy day moving our Augie girl into her dorm. We were blessed to have such a comfy place to return to. We enjoyed a lovely campfire and more snuggles from kitty cat, Chai and dog Runa before retiring a bit earlier for another glorious night of sleep.
If I had to tell you what my FAVORITE part about this place was, it would most definately be the outdoor shower. It really is amazing!! Chris, Katie and their children are such amazing hosts and we love staying with them in their little cabin.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at River Road Campground (Blue Cabin) during a road trip, and I can't recommend it enough! The site is absolutely breathtaking, surrounded by stunning views that truly make you feel connected to nature.
The campground itself is well-maintained and offers a variety of amenities that cater to both seasoned campers and newcomers. The spots are spacious and provide plenty of privacy, allowing you to relax and enjoy the serene environment.

Easily one of our best camping experiences! The little log cabin at Katie & Chris’s place was the perfect home base for our recent family trip to the Sioux River Folk Festival. We were welcomed with warmth and next-level hospitality, even while they were in the midst of tree cleanup after a major storm. The cabin was charming and well-appointed, and the queen bed was super comfortable! Our kids loved having their own space up in the loft and we all decided that we want to build our own outdoor bathhouse at home because the shower was so great! Chris and Katie have poured their hearts into their property and into providing an outstanding experience for guests. There are so many incredible reasons, both big & small, why we loved our stay at the Specialty Crop and we can’t wait to return! Thank you for making us feel like family!
