Staying at the Hobbit House on the Hill was one of our favorite things we’ve ever done in our lives. And walking around and experiencing all the artwork and how well they made an amazing experience out of their land was simply amazing. Highly recommend. Multiple times.

Our experience at windy goat acres staying in the hobbit house was nothing short of magical. From connecting with nature and spending time with the animals,, sitting by the fire and having a wonderful mushroom fairy picnic.. such a lovely place and kind people. Loved every second 🧚♀️

The hobbit house at Windy Goat Acres was truly magical! We enjoyed learning about its unique construction and the incredible effort Jim and Jess have put into the land. The animals, trails, and creative installations made the experience even more fun, and a visit to the Garden Bar was the perfect way to end the day. We’d love to return soon!

Really cute place. It’s small and cozy. No internal water, sink, or toilets, but a hydrant is outside. It’s a glamping experience so as long as you are good with that then you will love this place! You can drive up the hill, which I didn’t realize until after hauling the luggage. Wish I would’ve asked first. No TV and little WiFi in the hut. But that makes for a more authentic stay.

The Hobbit house was AMAZING! Everything you would expect from a "Hobbit house" and more. It doesn't have it's own bathroom, but a potty is quite nearby and the community restroom is a short walk away.
It is air conditioned, and has a darling little electric fireplace in case it gets a bit chilly.
The farm itself is absolutely gorgeous! Wooded, with animals medicinal herbs everywhere you look and the hosts are so warm and welcoming! Definitely 10/10 would recommend!

We had the most amazing time at the Hobbit House! The incredible detail inside and outside of the house made it truly feel like we were relaxing in the Shire. It looked even better in person than in photos! Exploring the trails and finding all the cool spots to relax then watching the animals was just the cherry on top! Cannot wait to come back again!

My husband and our 14month old son came for a surprise getaway for my husband's birthday. He was delighted to see the Hobbit House on a Hill. The property was magical and whimsical. It was fun to explore the mowed trails and see the barnyard animals. The waffle bar kit was very tasty and a must if you stay. We also did the piggy popsicles and my son loved petting the pig and watching all the other animals come say hi to us. We had a couple of hiccups because of the weather which was no fault of the hosts but they went above and beyond to accommodate is and make us comfortable. They were incredibly kind and I am so happy we visited their lovely farm.

We had a wonderful time visiting the Hobbit House this Saturday. Visiting all the animals at the barn was a real treat, and we were lucky enough to be there when live music was scheduled. It was quite hot and sticky during the day but that didn't stop the activities. Looking forward to visiting again.

We stayed at the Hobbit House and it was awesome! We grilled out every night and had a blast with the movie projector. The animals were friendly and feeding them was cheap and easy! I would absolutely recommend Windy Goat Acres to anyone wanting to get out of urban Iowa and live on an easy-going farm for a few days :)

The Hobbit House was really amazing. So beautifully done and well kept. It's only one big room but my kids and I had plenty of space for eating at the little table and we played a couple card games on the queen size bed. There's electricity, air conditioning, and lighting (though the back half of the room is a little dim) but no indoor plumbing at all. We found a gallon of water that was left for us and there's a faucet just off the patio in the front so it was still pretty easy! We were only there one night but we had a fun adventure! We explored the property, enjoyed some mulberries, petted the cats and goats, and got surprised by a peacock outside the portapotty! It's such a cute place, I'd have loved to have been able to spend more time there just sitting on the patio with a book or watching my kids play on the stage. We'll have to go back!

Our daughter wanted a family camping trip and LOVES Lord of the Rings, so this trip was a no brainer to tryout. We were surprised by all the supplies they had readily available in the house.
We loved checking out all the very friendly animals on the property. We fed and pet the bunnies, then took our leftover food to feed the goats. They had horses randomly walking around to pet, they were so friendly! Plus, they have peacocks that walk around the farmyard all the time. So fun!
If you love the outdoors, or are interested in camping but in an actual air conditioned little house or yurt, this place was awesome.
Also, there’s a lake only about 10 minutes away for fishing or swimming. We loved the trip. It was a perfect family getaway for us. Thanks!

Loved everything about this Hobbit House! Felt immersed in a magical land with all the green space to wander, animals to see, and the hobbit home to relax in. Waffle bar kit for breakfast is highly recommended. Great get away that is peaceful!

This place was amazing. I heard from a friend what it was like but it exceeded my expectations! Every second we were there was magical and memory making. Jess is an amazing host and goes out of her way to make you feel so welcomed. We did the bubbles and waffles for my 4 year old grandson. He will remember this the rest of his life and wants to go back already. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
