There is an exceptional slice of paradise on Oahu close to downtown Honolulu and just 5 miles and 15 minutes from Waikiki beach.
Hidden up a mile-long, narrow, winding road, over 3 little bridges, and into the jungle in the back of Palolo Valley lies 14 acres of tropical beauty and a cozy tent.
The tent is situated amongst towering trees with a view of a large grassy meadow. The tent is off the grid, using catchment water and solar electrical power.
A large lanai provides an ideal area to sit and enjoy the cool breezes and the frequent rain showers. The 14 acres of private property surrounded by nearly endless conservation forest provides an exceptional place for restoration of body and soul, a healthy and inspirational sanctuary of seclusion, peace, and tranquility. The land is a tableau of soft greens and gentle light. A place for restoration of body and soul, spending time in nature to improve mental, physical, and cognitive health. Feel the invigoration and deep peace, the mana, the energy of that life force of all living things. It is the forest, the soil, the rain. Yours to enjoy alone, other than for the owners at the far end of the property.
There are some short hiking trails and a valley hike to a private waterfall.
The tent is furnished with a Civil War era full-size bed formerly from the Brodhead family, whose ancestors fought in the American Revolutionary War. There is a private shower and restroom, and a BBQ grill.
Umbrellas and rain jackets are provided to deal with the frequent and often heavy rainfall, which keeps the area so green and lush. The land is forested with kukui trees, koa trees, guava trees, eucalyptus deglupta, eucalyptus robusta, cinnamon trees, and flowering ginger in red, white , and yellow with various heliconias, banana, mountain apple, and avocado trees.
The mission for owners Rick Ralston and Sue Jansen is to restore their 14 acres to a more pristine condition, eradicate invasive trees and plants, and reforest with indigenous Hawaiian trees and plants with the addition of selective flowering plants and fruit trees to create a delightful tropical garden paradise.
