You will hear noises from land management on Weekdays 9-5. Weekday prices reduced to reflect this!  We love meeting our guests, and like to provide unique experiences. The property has a pond and rolling hill views with beautiful dogwoods and pines throughout. Each off grid living space offers direct access to the water and boasts a full array of cooking, cleaning, and living items. This property hosts a full camp bathroom including an on grid toilet, sink, and shower. The water heater is tankless propane to ensure the hot water never runs out. This property is a beautiful getaway  This property was also a portion of the northern picket line during the Civil War at the battle of Resaca. Civil war relics are often found right here on the property.

Hi there, I am Kyle Varnell along with my beautiful wife Kassy and our six children, Elijah, Nehemiah, Abigail, Noah, Maryam, and Lydia. We began our farming venture because we want to raise healthy food for our family.  It started with meat chickens and has moved us to more and more of the farming lifestyle.  Our livestock now includes poultry, cattle, and pork. The farm is helping us to become more self-sufficient while improving the land and the quality of food available to our family, friends, and neighbors. 

Maclellan Island

YOU MUST PROVIDE WATERCRAFT OF SOME KIND TO GET TO MACLELLAN ISLAND!

Maclellan Island’s earliest inhabitants were Native Americans whose island community was likely an extension or suburb of Citico, a nearby village. Farmed in the 1800’s and early 1900’s, the island was plowed for many years and largely free of the trees which shade it today. Floods have covered the island from time to time and drove away numerous early settlers including one early farmer, Abel Kesterson, who survived rising waters in 1867 only by holding onto the horns of his cow as they swam to safety. The island eventually passed through the hands of several prominent companies as well as a number of more rambunctious inhabitants. Finally in 1954 Maclellan Island was donated to the Chattanooga Audubon Society by Robert J. Maclellan for preservation as a wildlife refuge.

Camp on your own private island! We only allow one group at a time, so once you book, the island is all yours.

Maclellan Island is a unique 18.8-acre wildlife sanctuary situated in the middle of the Tennessee River, in the heart of downtown Chattanooga. It is accessible by water only. The island is home to a great diversity of plants, animals, and birds. 

Campers can enjoy easy wildlife viewing in a true urban wilderness setting. Muskrats, geese, and kingfishers can be seen feeding at the water’s edge, while the forest is home to songbirds, turkeys, raccoons, owls, possums, foxes, and woodpeckers. It's a great place to quietly watch nesting osprey and great-blue heron as well as an important feeding area for migrating warblers.

IMPORTANT: Maclellan Island is accessible by boat ONLY. You will need to provide your own transportation to and from the island, either using your own boat or by renting a kayak/SUP from a local outfitter.

The RV at Chestuee Creek

Almost two years ago we moved onto this rural property from the city of Chattanooga. One of the biggest reasons was to start growing and raising our own food. Since then we have started managing heritage pigs, registered dairy goats, chickens, ducks, a garden, and a food forest. Our hope for campers is to come not only to camp, but to be exposed to food grown healthier and happier than most. The way we rotate animals on pasture is like none other in our area, so we’d love to give a tour and show what it’s all about.Learn more about this land: Enjoy the view from the hill as the sun sets over the neighbors’ horses and pond. Also, we have several farm things going on, our garden is across the driveway, chickens are a stone through away, the goats will be heard for sure, and our heritage breed pigs may be found in the front yard depending on the time of year!
The site can fit a truck and camper or large RV with a garden hose and extension cord hookup provided nearby. 

Beautiful Sunrises & Sunsets await. On moonless nights, look up!  You'll see the Milky Way.

Andy & Ana's Cute Little Farm

Our farm was once the site of Cherokee Indian villages. Prior to that, it was the site of Creek Indian and Pre-Creek Indian villages. Local historians and archaeologists share that the area hosted Spanish Conquistadors in their quest for gold.

Today, we enjoy the natural beauty of the area with peace & quiet like no other place you can imagine.

We are a rustic, 56-acre organic farm near the river in beautiful NW Georgia. Adventure opportunities include Hiking, Biking (gravel/MTB/road) water sports & sightseeing at local State Parks.

Please Note: Bikes and water sports gear are not provided - please bring your own.

In addition to our Guest House, we have ample camping space available (tent/trailer/short RV)  for overflow guests. Some folks like to camp but have access to the Guest House for more indoor amenities.
