Larger parties can rent both the camper or cabins & bring some tents additional people. Or bring a friend and rent one site in conjunction with some of our other sites. you can even split up your camping trip with a night in our backcountry camp site. Located in the rolling Appalachian hills of Southeast Ohio. This farm has been in our family since 1869 when our relatives settled here from Germany. Originally farmed for cattle and sheep with many orchards over the years our property is now mostly mature forest. Southeast Ohio, including our property is known for its hilly topography and microclimates. Hills range from 400 to 1,100 feet. Nearly 500 acres of land with an additional 200+ acres of Wayne National Forest adjacent to our farm and close proximity to other Wayne areas for outdoor activities. We have nearly 10 miles of available trails for hiking. Many activities can be done at or centered around our property. Such as excellent and challenging road biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking and boating. We are two miles from the Little Muskingum River. A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. This is also a great home base for dual sport or adventure bike motorcycle riders to camp while adventuring along gravel roads through Appalachia. If motorcycles aren't your method of entertainment and travel. Bring your horse and ride on several of our trails. From steep ascents to long flat ridge lines, you will have lots of time to immerse yourself with nature while hiking. We're next to a section of the Wayne National Forest and a short drive to other similar Wayne activity sites. If you like to camp, but don't want the busy public park experience then you will enjoy the privacy of our camping location. We are also only about a 20-minute drive to downtown Marietta. Where you can find restaurants, bars, and many other fun activities.

Property was owned by my great grandfather , He lost 150 acres in the early 1900's due to a bad debt from neighboring landowner. Was so happy to be able to repurchase the 150 acres back in 2016,now own the original land tract and added more. 250 acres in total. Portions were strip mined around 1978-1982 creating some flat fields and access to all property. I might add that strip mining if done properly can and does enhance the property. Ponds were built to catch runoff and several new animal species moved in waterfowl ,muskrats, and beavers. The beavers have constructed large dams on property further adding to the beauty. Have seen several bald eagles on and around the property.

Welcome to Our Homestead Campground! Our secluded 80-acre farm is nestled in a valley between three mountains, where two babbling creeks meet—over two miles from the nearest residence. We raise chickens, ducks, and pigs while practicing permaculture and organic farming, using solar energy for parts of our operation. For a more rustic experience, Kolb Field offers a peaceful spot along Coon Creek, shaded by a majestic walnut tree. You’re also welcome to camp almost anywhere on the property to find your perfect spot. A lightly traveled public dirt road runs through our property. While an SUV or 4x4 is recommended, regular cars can access the site, and we have parking for standard vehicles. Please check with us in advance if you plan to bring an RV. Our farm is a great destination for overland camping—perfect for getting your truck a little dirty! We are cautiously dog-friendly. Our farm dogs patrol the property to protect our free-roaming animals, so visiting dogs must be well-behaved, leashed, and comfortable around other animals. If you're unsure about compatibility, please reach out for advice. Our dogs will come to your camp to "check you out". If your dog has a problem with other dogs that are new to them you must let us know so we can control our dogs. We have had people come with problem dogs and not tell us so, we are asking for a $1 extra that we now require as a pet fee. While you're here, visit our local businesses in Gassaway. A one hour drive from Charleston, WV! Each riverside site is approximately a third of an acre in size and has mature shade trees! This primitive setting is nestled along the Elk River, in northern Kanawha County, among both full-time residents and seasonal campsites. Tent or hammock camp along the river bank! You're also welcome to camp almost anywhere on the property to find your perfect spot, if you'd prefer to be mountainside instead. A lightly traveled dirt road runs through the property. While an SUV or 4x4 is recommended, regular cars can access the site. No campers or ATVs please. Our grounds are a great destination for the outdoor enthusiast, but we don't have quite enough parking space for our ATV friends. While you're here, you have foot access to the river, and many places to walk. Feel free to bring your fishing gear, kayaks, bicycles, etc. and stay for a while. Please reach out if you have any questions, we can likely accommodate your needs. The closest town is Clendenin, WV - which includes gas stations, restaurants, a grocery store, and access to the Elk River Trail. All around, you'll have many options for the Elk River Trail, Rail Explorers, Carol's Crossroads Best Restaurant (Maysel), and the upcoming Dundon Trailhead (Clay) - owned and operated by the WV Division of Natural Resources. Many DNR river access sites are nearby too, including Queen Shoals and King Shoals. If we're out of extras here, there are other watercraft rental options in the area, including Elk River Get-A-Way (Clendenin). Note: Please make sure your arrival is between Wednesday and Sunday of the week.

We have two sites different sites in the property. Site #1 “ A mountain Side Retreat” Is a 20ft diameter Bell tent yurt on a 20x24 foot platform giving you a 4foot porch to sit and listen to nature. It is a shared driveway but campers park in a low spot at the bottom of the driveway -- not up by cabin. There is a tall fence to separate camp from the cabin but it is close by. There is so much to enjoy at Lucky Otter: the lake breeze, shady forest canopy, birdsong, room for activities, camp meals, and time around the campfire. Bird sounds prevail over boat noise -- which only occurs during busy season and during the day. At night, you will drift asleep to peaceful nature noises. Lucky Otter is a haven for campers, climbers, and lake folk alike. Rest at camp or venture off to the crags (very close to the Meadow and the Lake) or nearby hiking trails. We are just minutes from Battle Run Boat Launch, Gauley River put-in, and Summersville Dam. Drive just a mere 5 minutes and explore or picnic at Carnifex Ferry State Park -- they have the best panoramic river view! Check out Ample Pizza and Freefolk Brewery -- just a quick 12 minute drive -- and halfway to the National Park! We are a quick trip to the New River Gorge National Park (about 15 miles) and just a twenty minute drive from downtown Fayetteville. Explore Fayette Station where you can find a river front beach, waterfalls, and hiking trails. We offer the perfect spot to relax with your friends or family. Pups are totally welcome -- they must be leashed. Please note that the steep sloping hill past the two adirondack chairs at the bottom of camp that goes down to the lake is NOT our property but the Army Corps. Our farm lies nestled in between two beautiful mountains, one of them named Panther Mountain, in the Gauley River gorge. Here we raise Merino and Jacob sheep. Our farm is also home to a miniature horse and chickens. In addition to the NRG and Summersville Lake and Dam, also close by are Carnifex Ferry Battleground State Park where you can see where a crucial civil war battle took place, as well as Babcock State Park with its iconic grist mill and waterfall. We provide 5 sites on our farm for every camping style, from electric and water RV hookup, dry RV to tent, each with a canopy shelter, table, fire pit and grill. All sites are spaciously separate from one another for privacy and perfect for couples who want to get away from it all, or for families or groups of friends who want to reconnect and catch up. Clean portajohns are provided as well as a common area with a dishwashing station and a "to die for" outdoor hot water shower (above-freezing temperatures permitting)! Dishwashing station and hot water shower does not apply to the Gauley River Adventure site.
