In the bureaucratic nightmare that often is the world we live in, there are really only two things you need concern yourself with when escaping to the 277 North campground: 1) there are no reservations for the 17 RV-accessible tent sites 2) you MUST have advance reservations for the group campground (maximum 35 people). Price: crazy cheap ($4/night regular sites, $2/person/night group site last we checked). Amenities: personal covered picnic table and grill, a communal pit toilet, and a boat ramp. Expected electricity and water for that $4 price tag? Sorry, this is a great deal without it, though. This campground overlooks the Amistad Reservoir from the San Pedro Canyon, so it is possible to get a ‘room with a view’ for less than the price of a fancy latte.

From the Southwest, you can admire the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico and catch a glimpse of the silhouette of the laying lady on clear days. At night, marvel at the lights of Del Rio, located 37 miles away, and enjoy unparalleled stargazing opportunities. While we're off-grid in the higher elevations, phone service is available for AT&T and T-Mobile users. Small Acreage (23 Acres) High Dessert Property. Beautiful views and an amazing night sky. Completely primitive and the ground is mostly rocky terrain. However, there are a couple of great camping spots right off the road. If you are adventurous there are even more spots a short hike away down into the valley. Rules: RV onsite is not for use Absolutely no hunting or discharging of firearms Fire needs to be contained to fire pit Be aware of property boundaries Have FUN!
