Louisville State Recreation Area encompasses 192 acres in eastern Nebraska and is known for its five sandpit lakes, which provide ample opportunities for swimming, fishing, canoeing, and non-powered boating. The park's lakes are surrounded by mature cottonwood trees, offering a scenic and shaded environment for campers and day visitors alike.
Camping accommodations at Louisville SRA include over 200 camping pads with a mix of full hookups, electric, and basic sites, catering to both RV users and tent campers. Campers will find modern restrooms, a shower facility, a dump and fill station, and access to potable water throughout the camping areas. Reservations are available for half of the electrical campsites, with the remainder being first-come, first-served.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of amenities such as a floating playground, swimming beach, playgrounds for children, hiking and biking trails, and picnic shelters. The lakes are stocked with fish including bass, catfish, bluegill, crappie, and seasonally with rainbow trout, making it a popular destination for anglers. The park also has boat, canoe, paddle board, and kayak rentals, and a seasonal concession stand offering groceries, bait, and camping supplies.
The Louisville State Recreation Area is open year-round, with the park office operating extended hours in the summer. The area is part of Nebraska’s Venture Parks system and is a favored spot for families, fishing enthusiasts, and outdoor adventurers seeking a blend of recreation and scenic beauty.
