Eugene T. Mahoney State Park is a modern, year-round destination perfectly situated between Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska. The park features a wide array of amenities, including the Peter Kiewit Lodge, 60 cabins, and 148 campsites—ranging from full hookups to electric-only sites. Campers will find two modern campgrounds: Lakeside and Little Creek, both offering convenient access to water, showers, and restrooms.
Recreation abounds at Mahoney State Park. Visitors can fish in Baright and CenturyLink Lakes, enjoy paddle boating, or play a round of mini golf, disc golf, or traditional golf at the nearby driving range. The Activity Center offers indoor recreation year-round, including a large indoor playground and a 42-foot climbing wall. Winter months bring ice skating, sledding, ice fishing, and cross-country skiing. Onsite stores at Owen Marina and the lodge provide basic camping supplies, snacks, and food.
The park also boasts hiking and biking trails, an observation tower with views of the Platte River, pony rides, horse trail rides, and live theater. The arts and crafts center and robust naturalist programs make it a family favorite. Facilities are well maintained and suitable for group events, with cabins and lodges available for larger gatherings.
While fires are usually permitted, a temporary campfire ban is in effect on all Nebraska state park properties due to dry conditions. The park requires a Nebraska state park entry permit for all visitors. Reservations are accepted online or by phone for both campsites and cabins, with a portion held for first-come, first-served campers.
