High in the Pinaleño Mountains is an expansive camping area in a grassy stand of aspen and fir. Cunningham Campground can be your base camp for some pretty extreme hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. In fact, even though this campground is Primitive with a capital P, there’s a cozy corral for horses and room for your trailer or rig. After you set up camp, you can head into the canyon on the Grant Creek Trail, or meander along the Grant Hill Loop. Either way, have your camera at the ready!

Chad and Monica moved from the metro phoenix area to Willcox Arizona in the summer of 2015 with the goal of starting a vineyard and winery and living a simpler life in the country. Since moving to Willcox they have cleared 50 acres and planted over 6000 grape vines with more to plant coming soon. They fell in love with the spectacular views, the wildlife and the people. With spectacular sunrises and sunsets  and clear night skies its a beautiful place to live and visit. With a working vineyard and winery you can walk from your camp and buy a bottle of wine or just enjoy a glass on the large deck located at the tasting room that over looks the grain field and silos, orchards and vineyards. There is incredible history that surrounds the area including: Cochise and Geronimo's battle grounds against the US Calvery, the Butterfield Stagecoach routes and pony express trails, The battle of the OK Coral with the Earp Brothers nearby. Birds and Barrels Vineyards is located within one of the only two American Viticulture Areas(AVA's)  in Arizona. Dragoon is rich in history and natural beauty. The name comes from the 3rd U.S. Calvary Dragoons who battled the Chiricahua Apaches here led by Chief Cochise during the Apache Wars. Nearby, you can visit the confederate graves and ruins of the Dragoon Springs Stage Station. About 20 minutes away is Cochise Stronghold, home and burial place of Chief Cochise and Chiricahua Nat'l Monument is about an hour away (great hiking and climbing!). Unique to this area are the amazing rock formations of pillars, balances, and stacked rocks caused by cooled volcanic granite 50 million years ago.  In addition, our area is home to hundreds of different bird species, the occasional Gila monster, coyotes, deer, and javalina.

Bakers Akers is located in what used to be Nebblett, New Mexico but is now Virden, New Mexico. The one room Nebblett school house was located on this property. Virden was settled by the Mormons when they were ran out of old Mexico by Poncho Villa. Kit Carson took this route guiding General Kearney and the Army of the west to California during the Mexican American war. It is now being discussed that Coronado may have come through this area also. The farm was used for breeding and training race horses. It is now a cow/calf operation. Learn more about this land: Camp on the Gila River amongst the century old Cottonwoods and Mulberry trees, with Bermuda grass carpeting. Plenty of shade to pitch a tent or park under.
