The Cabins are nestled around a patch of Bamboo and other high desert vegetation as well as a very rich cultural history with many Ruins and Other Native American Sights in the surrounding areas. The Verde River is one of Arizona's only two Wild and Scenic Rivers, yet it remains relatively undiscovered as a recreational resource is within walking distance and offers endless exploration and water fun in the Spring and Summer Months! The road to reach us is breathtaking in itself with ancient Sinaguan Ruins and strangely beautifully sculpted landscapes along the River drive. Enjoy miles of forests, rivers, lakes, swimming, hiking, mtb, all near by and all while being comfy and cozy for a nights recharge to do it all again after a hot shower or Jacuzzi. Each Cabin is fully equipped (hot water/appliances/kitchen/bathroom/dishes) as an Adventure base during your stay providing a comfortable, cozy and unique location for couples or small groups/families to enjoy while adventuring and creating memories in the area. 40 acres of primeval Juniper forest, with trees dated at 1200 years old, create the perfect solitude getaway. Camping here in Coconino County north of Ash Fork and Seligman, down 10 miles of isolated dirt road - this is far enough away to feel remote and surrounded by nothing but ancient trees. Yet there are many cool destinations not far away: Once you get out to the highway, Williams is 30 minutes away so you can plan you visit to the Grand Canyon or ride the Grand Canyon Railway. Another 30 minutes in that direction to reach Flagstaff with its skiing, nightlife, observatory, and eclectic culture. Continue exploring and you can visit the red rocks of Sedona, the natural caves of Peach Springs, and the crystal-blue waterfalls at Havasupai. While you're camping, enjoy the peace and quiet surrounded by meadows and ancient Juniper trees. Bring your fifth wheel, camper, toyhauler, or even your tent. Bring as many friends with you as you'd like - there's plenty of space. Sit around a campfire of sweet-smelling Juniper wood while you roast marshmallows. Depending on the time of year, hunting may be in season, with Deer and Elk. Remember that hunting is permitted if you have a valid hunting license, on the adjacent mile-wide parcel of State Trust land sprawling out to the west of the property. Roads are accessible most of the year with just about any kind of vehicle - as long as the weather is nice. So be sure the check the weather report or almanac before planning your visit. If the weather is dry, just about any kind of car, truck or trailer can make it down the 10-miles of dirt road to get to the property. If rain is on the calendar, you're going to need 4-wheel-drive and clearance. The dirt roads develop deep mud patches that can mire most cars or trailers. There will also be snow in the wintertime - so plan accordingly for mud, ice, and rough roads. But most of the year is easy as long as it's dry!

The land is next to 300,000 acres of state land so plenty of hiking available as well as just walks down a dirt road that has more foot traffic than vehicles .

Our story is short. We bought this land in 2012 and it was barren. We have created a nice sanctuary with trees, a pond, and relaxing hangout areas. We are artists and biologists. Our children are homeschooled. Yes, We also have three dogs that are friendly. We are 20 minutes to climbing areas (Promised Land and The Dells), Sedona is an hour away, Prescott is 25 to 30 minutes. , Grand Canyon is !.5 hours, the Verde River is 40 minutes one way and an hour and 15 in the other direction. You are welcome to set up a tent or bring your RV. If you bring a tent please bring a camp toilet. It is dry camping. We do have an electrical outlet and water. We hope you'll camp here.

Our location is mid-way between Ash Fork and Seligman, AZ off of Route 66. It is pristine juniper covered land in every direction at 5200'+ elevation with incredible Northwest Arizona mountain and valley views. If you're looking to enjoy the off-grid camping experience, come stay a night or 2 on "The 40 on Rte. 66." During new moon times, the sky is full of stars and the Milky Way is easily visible. During full moon times, the trees and ground are lit up in all directions. Sightings of deer and jackrabbits are common as well as hearing coyotes in the distance. Being open range land, the cattle will wander into sight. Various cacti and desert plants around the campsites. Nearby Route 66 attractions include Ash Fork, Seligman and Williams. Grand Canyon National Park is approx. 1.5 hours away. We are along the longest remaining un-interrupted section of Route 66. We have several improved camp sites to make your stay easier; however, there are plenty of unmarked and unimproved areas within the Hipcamp area for you to stay. This is our land but you are welcomed to camp your way. All are welcomed. 420 friendly. Please be respectful of your fellow Hipcampers.

Wanderer's Rest

High desert, with lots of Juniper trees and other mixed vegetation. Elevation - 3800 feet, not too cold in the winter, gets to 100+ in summer. Rainy season, though we haven't had one in past few years, is late June through September. Our 3 sights are all level gravel, 50amp, 30amp and 1 non hookup site. Imagine yourself sitting out in the warm evenings looking up at the wonderous, star filled sky. Or watching the sun set over the Hualapai Mountains, or getting up early to catch the sun rising over the Aquarius Mountains. The Hualapai Mountain hiking trails and Lodge (Great food with Mountain views) are within half an hour drive. The City of Kingman is also half an hour away west on hwy 40. Where there are Wineries, Breweries, Museums, Restaurants and ample shopping, including, of course, a Walmart. Other nearby fun places to explore: Follow the famous Mother Road - "Route 66." Where you can: Visit Peach Springs and drive to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, have a picnic by the beach and splash in the Colorado River. Take a picture by the 3 dimensional Route 66 sign. Drive up the 22 mile Sidewinder (191 curves), to the old restored mining town of Oatman, with all kinds of little shops, and a daily gunfight. And be sure to meet the Mayor of Oatman, who is actually one of many locals wandering freely through town, descended from the original Donkeys owned by the miners when they abandoned the town. Yes the mayor is a Donkey, and watch it because he may try to steel your bag if it contains candy or food. Keep driving down old Rte 66 to Topic, have a drink sitting in one of the Butt Chairs at the bar, or outside overlooking the Marina. Next drive 40 minutes to Lake Havasu, where there are many great experiences, including hanging out in a little piece of London with Restaurants, Bars and shops along Lake Havasu (Colorado River), under the actual London Bridge. Which was disassembled stone by stone, numbered, shipped and reassembled. Now bridges the City to the Island. Not too far from here is the Grand Canyon West Entrance. View it's Grandness walking out over the Canyon on the Amazing Glass Skywalk. You can go river rafting, ziplining and explore cultural exhibits depicting ancient village life. Do all this from our home base - "Wanderer's Rest."

Tried getting here from the East. Google maps, which is 99% reliable kept putting me on really old roads that resembled four wheeler trails. Each one taking me to a locked gate on private ranch land. The sun was setting, so I had to give up after an hour. Go to Mingus Mountain instead, if you're coming from the East. It's worth the change of course.
