Backcountry Beauty and Comforts
This is a great place to stay if you want to be really deep In Klamath River country. It is a a 1 hour trip on a country road and then an unpaved road to get there, so make sure you’ve packed what you want for your stay so there’s no need to run to the little town on the coast. The meadow and Orchard and riverfront are beautiful and the hosts are Very kind. They Only just acquired the property and with their youth and energy have plans to improve things quite a bit. The two tent sites we saw were tucked away in the forest, just off the edge of the meadow, looked perfect. The yurt is stunning, and closest to the river. We stayed in the main house, which is about 7 to 10 minutes walking to the river. You have to go down a little hill and across the meadow and then another little hill. The river is pretty lazy and swimmable at this access point. As of now the main house, which was built in the 40s, is a bit rundown, but it functions reasonably well. It was nice to have a roof and toilet and a kitchen and clean water from the tap to simplify things for our family, we aren’t fancy though. The stars at night on the meadow were spectacular. Blackberries and thimble berries are everywhere.
